Yes, Will, LIVE YOUR LIFE! Caring for an aging parent, especially one that’s dealing with mental health issues, is all consuming and you can easily lose yourself in the process of care if you don’t put yourself first. I used to work with family advocacy a LONG time ago in NYC and the bureaucracy of these state run facilities will drive anyone insane. You might want to look into guardianship for your mother in her state. Guardianship of an adult is a long, arduous process so even if it’s not something you are thinking of right now, at least get the info you need so you can be ready. Thank you for always being super real in your vlogs. I feel like we get so many different sides of Will, vlog Will, video Will, live Will… they all give us the different facets of your personality. ❤

I’ve battled mental illness i’ve been inpatient several times it’s stressful on all parties and it feels like you lose your rights as a patient. Manayunk is near Spring Garden (museum district where Philly Museum of Art,Barnes, Rodin is etc) and East Falls is a bit more suburban and peaceful!

Most people without the funds to pay for help at a private mental health hospital with the horses and the yoga teachers are regulated to these hell holes. I want to say that I completely understand what you’re going through with your mom. My mom wasn’t in a facility but she would go into a demented state when her ammonia levels became elevated. She passed in 2017. She and I were really close up until she started to get sick. When she went down I never would’ve thought my big brother wiuld step up but he did in a tremendous way because I couldn’t handle seeing my mom in that state. Anyway Will I’m praying for healing and strength for you and your mother. Keep pushing and living your life. We love you.

I had to leave my old hospital job because of situations like this. I couldn’t spend every lunch break helping patients and their family. A lot of these workers are waiting to hit their 10 years to be vested or the last few years to retire. It’s not right and you don’t want to become to monster in someone’s story. So sorry you had the debacle at that hospital 😢.

DO NOT live on Temple's campus. Too much riff raff (drunk/ noisy students). I think you'd enjoy Fishtown the most, maybe Northern Liberties as well. Fishtown is where all the yuppies live. I personally don't like South Philly as much because I feel like there's less to do but it feels very residential and neighborhood-y. I've always loved Old City, its in the more historical part of the city and is lively and the buildings have character. I think Brewerytown is a bit more disconnected from the city but more and more people are moving there, so it might be cheaper. So excited to hear you might be moving here! Hopefully, I'll pass you on the street one day and say hi!

I appreciate your transparency with what's going on with your mom's treatment as well as how you feel. These institutions as you described are not in the business of true care. And that's really sad and isolating for patients and their loved ones. So even though I had a good cry I really enjoyed the vlog. We enjoy seeing you happy especially when simultaneously dealing with hard stuff. Also welcome back to the east coast!!! (or at least when you move in)

Will, Love to You! I appreciate you. I honor your tears. The fears, frustrations, exhaustion and heart break in those moments are Real Real. I know what it is like to just want even a tiny glimmer of humanity (or at least logic) in a hospital/care facility where the most humanity should be expressed because the most vulnerable are there for help/care and as family members of those in the hospital we are already dealing with SO much. I feel you. I keep sending light and love and prayers for all the right people and support to show up for your mom and you! 💕🤗

Thank you for sharing your perspective and experiences navigating mental health hospitals. Hearing your story, reminds me why I hesitate to refer my clients to be admitted for inpatient care. It’s unfortunate that a lot of mental health hospitals literally just higher whoever. So sorry your mom has to be in a place like that.

Welcome back to the East Coast. We missed you. I live in Philly and purchased over 20yrs ago so I have street parking. Well… I opt to pay for a lot a few blocks away. Because I want the bumper paint intact and don’t want to drive around for hours looking for a spot. The gentrifiers can’t parallel park!

As I get older I’m fighting to break out of my isolation shell and interact with family and friends more cause “what if this is the last time” always crosses my mind.
