In my team estimation is done in group , where weightage to senior developer is given more and senior developer tend to give less estimation to most of task. for example if i estimate a task for 8 days and some other developer estimate it for 6 days and then senior developer told 3 days then they ask from the developer why this work should take 8 or 6 days , since i am fresher , i don't have proper answer because doing the task for first time. In that case manger decided the estimation to be 3 days as decided by senior and there are many ad-hoc tasks in my team and size of team is very small as compared to other teams in company.
There's one more challenge that many face and that is the competition within a team. Teammates putting in longer hours compromising their WLB puts you in a tight spot as you fear that you won't be getting that promotion and hike. How can this be dealt?
