"Competition is everything, cooperation happens after a flood." ~ George Carlin
Actually cooperation is everything in nature, but humans have been drifted away from the harmony so much that everything has become competition to them because they are not harmonious: The Connections (2021) [short documentary] 💖
This is why God flooded the Earth and told Noah to build an ark.
He's not celebrating the imbalance tho. He's saying this is the main reason our species is failing.
@@adampkalb You don't Really believe that....Do you?...If so, I have some magic beans I can sell you.
That quote was taken way out of context.
"Is everybody okay? Let's get something to eat." That showed so much of Carlin's humanity.
He knew the ways of Jesus well.
You're both wrong. This guy loved when a bunch of people would die. He's openly admitted that. Natural disasters are one of his favorites.
@@floppybeefcurtains7679 no. Still not wrong. You need to learn his history. He is also not his ACT....
@@residentgrey If you know that he is not his act, then you should *ALSO* know that while Carlin maybe be *_Aware_* of "The ways of Jesus"... he also knows that such ways are just humans trying to control other humans. I won't claim to know his internal thoughts, but he seemed very against "teams" and is a main part of why I am so individualistic. Which, in my opinion is one of the main things we're loosing. Everyone to far too comfortable *NOT* dealing with the *ACTUAL SPECIFICS* and are _More than happy_ to just generalize the problem and blame everyone who is even remotely related to cause, even if it's *JUST* skin color, like how Whoopi and other Critical Race Theorists think the holocaust "Wasn't racist.... it was just white people killing white people, nothing racist there."..... Fucking dumb shit.
I, like carlin, Love a person, hate *PEOPLE,* Love humanity, hate society.
And now we're all fat.
"When your born into this world, your born into a freak show, and in America, you get a front row seat." George Carlin
And he said this what - back in the late 90s? Imagine if he were alive today…
In Middle East you're one of the performers.
And Carlin was the main act.
Except Carlin would have spelled “you’re” correctly.
@@Me97202 No cares but you. If you don't like that. Then run to your mommy and daddy about your problems.
George was very savvy.....he understood how stuff really worked and wasn't afraid to say it.
He's one of the G.O.A.T. for a reason.
He’s ok. I like the words but I was always bothered how silent he was on racism/white supremacy.
@@Justiceisbest "silent he was on racism/white supremacy" what are you talking about he wasn't silent on these things.
BJAdamBarry maybe I haven’t watched much he was before my time truly. The standup I’ve seen he seemed to dance around it. I could be inaccurate tho
I’m not sure if he saw that as his role but search for his bit called Muhammad Ali. Even from this short clip here it’s evident he knew what was dividing people.
One of the GOATs. When some of my, understandably, angry brethren exclaim, "There are no good white folk." I remind them of Carlin. He hate ALL himan stupidity... equally. And rigorously tried to show us that WE could be more... TOGETHER.
I love Carlin but he had no economic power so of course we can love him .
What I love about Carlin's interviews is that you can see his intelligence is genuine (for those who like to argue that his comedy acts are just practiced memorizations). He's very well-spoken and his beliefs are shaped from decades of sharp observation.
What I hate is how completely rational and reasonable and common sense-ical this all is, and yet people still look at it like it's some kind of profound an uncommon revelation. Our societal paradigm is completely out of whack to the point that we see Carlin saying totally sensible things that we should all be saying, and think "That guy's a genius, he's got such great insight!"
@@rhettorical I couldn’t agree more!
@@rhettorical Nah, there are better Carlin quotes out there, this one was pretty bland imo. "Lack of compassion is a problem" -overly simplistic bs you could get from anyone who doesnt understand a thing about people or politics. Proceeds to go off about the shape of rockets and bullets and compares war to rape -gross Freudian over examination which is not at all appropriate though I do see where he was going with it and it is kinda funny.
I think I heard him say he dropped out of HS. So glad his mind didn't.
2020 would have been his year
Could listen to him, on repeat, tell it exactly like it is. No bullshitting.
Miss this dude. Carlin really told it like it is.

Thousands of years from now, one way or another, Carlin will be remembered among humanities greatest philosophers
He didn’t believe that humanity will still be in existence thousands of years into the future
@@gregbors8364 he's probably right
Carlin would have a field day with what is going on today. I wish he was still here because I really would love to hear what he had to say
Me too
This is so profound!! George Carlin was such a great man!
George still had hope hear you can see it. A few years later every passing interview and monologue you can see all hope for humanity slip away. And it appears he was right. Robocop and The Terminator maybe seemed far fetched in some ways as 80s movies often were, but followed up with The Matrix it appears true. Computers(and greed) would be our downfall.
True indeed.
Technology (computers) steadily made greed, laziness and self consciousness grow exponentially and humanity die slowly with ways to often exponentially kill it.
Only helps and promote growth and development when you have balance. When you don’t, this world happens
The very essence of capitalist industrialism.
'Twas greed that done it."
-America's epitaph
So blessed to have seen him perform live. My seats were awful. But what stage presence. He was way ahead of his time and uses comedy to make you think and feel. I’ve read one of his books Braindroppiings and I was laughing so hard by myself just reading it. The epic baseball vs football. This guy was a good guy and a genius.
His point about demonstrating male sexual prowess through phallic weapons is true, and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing taught us this.
I swear those were my exact thoughts, then I see your comment.🤔
@@The_M0st_High Amen brethren. My thoughts also. Great to see we can relate to the legendary works of Dr Welsing, who now resides with the ancestors.
Salute.
Phallic weapons are more aerodynamic than vaginal shaped weapons.... even though the vagina is a super great weapon on it's own.
Yup. Very true. Her work including the Isis Papers is astounding.
Societies which value cooperation and civic duty are some of the safest places to live, like Japan. I happen to live in a country which does the exact opposite at every turn, and as a result, the society is hateful, vengeful, selfish, sexist, abusive. Fireworks wake up the whole neighborhood in the middle of the night because some drunk wants to celebrate his birthday. People cut in front of each other in line then start fighting. Men will not give way to anyone anywhere, lest their masculinity is questioned, so... everyone running into everyone and angry. Yelling, spitting in the elevator, hallways, sidewalks, homeless animals (estimated 85k) roam the streets. This is a country ruled by selfishness and ego. I hope the US will change for the better, or what I've described is its future.
I miss this guy all the time.
Sure wish he was here for these current events.
Same here, he would have a field day with all the crap that is happening and I would love to hear what he had to say
Why? So he could keep calling out the absurdity of our social system while we do nothing about it? He had to give up caring before he died. He couldn’t stand seeing humanity go down.
We have to save ourselves. We have to wake up, unite enough of us around a shared strategy to get off the competitive economic enslavement system of monetary-market capitalism to a society of abundance and prosperity that doesn’t need money!
We have blueprints from great minds, let’s not waste them. Like Peter Joseph of TZM and The New Human Rights Movement and Michael Tellinger of UBUNTU Contributionism and One Small Town.
@@carlosrubino6451 It's the same as it was hundreds of years ago. Nothing has changed. People have not changed. Technology has evolved, society has not. Remember that Galileo was put in jail for saying that the Earth revolves around the sun. Today, there are millions of people who want to lock up climate scientists for explaining basic science to the masses. It's the exact same scenario. Even recent history repeats itself. The same type of people who put Anne Frank in a concentration camp now want to ban her diary from being taught in public schools.
the fact that george says that if we can get these things in balance there's hope for humanity and by extension he would have hope for humanity shows how much weight that holds
This was 1992. You can see that he has a little idealism left. Ten years later his view was a lot different on our species. "If you scratch a cynic, underneath you'll find a disappointed idealist" - George Carlin
@@Alex-ry6cd He's being taken too literally now. It was just another vehicle to provoke thought.

Anyone who speaks from a place of pure truth will NEVER be liked by the masses. The truth is not marketable in a world founded on nothing but bullshit.
He had plenty of fans, but those in government sure didn't like him.... and the baby boomer Karens
It's funny, much of his audience probably doesn't realize they're in the groups he complains about.
"Easy to stand tall when you have your foot on someone's neck". Well, Mr. Carlin. If you didn't just predict the current times...
I love Irish Americans who empathize with Black People.
One thing for him is he grew up near Harlem when it was 99% Black People in the 1930's-1950's.
I am none of the above. But yeah. The Irish know about state oppression in similar ways.
@@MemoGrafix he literally grew up in Harlem. Called it White Harlem.
It's great, but we need people who will empathise with Natives of America the Red Indians, who's land was stolen and known as America. I don't care in Ideologies or in Religion, it's a human thing.
I'm only 19, but can sympathize with alot of George Carlin's standup material. I'm not 100% in agreement with him on religion, but I can see where a lot of his anger comes from in it. This guy was a prophet though, holy shit.

This is what WIDE AWOKE sounds like.
Please, George Carlin would cringe at people who considered themselves woke
George Carlin spoke out against language that concealed reality. IMO “woke” is a perfect example of that. To me, woke hints at some kind of special, hidden knowledge, that only some people have access too. It’s total bullshit. Carlin would probably say “of course I’m awake ya fucking nimrod, we’re in the middle of a conversation”
On the block I live woke simply means aware. To be aware one must be awake. Mr. Carlin, RIP, helped awaken us to many truths. Not even claiming to be superman.

0:31 Carlin has been reading his Whitman, who was talking about our fellow planetary bedfellows, the animals:
*I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain'd/ I stand and look at them long and long/They do not sweat and whine about their condition/They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins/They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God/Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things/Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago/Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.* ☀️ The ‘mania of owning things’. Indeed.
Private property rights are human rights. No other rights are possible without it. Without a pen, paper, a computer, an apartment. You cant even have freedom of speech.
Pure Genius. His views on human nature have been proven to be extraordinarily prescient.
I was born in 1992 and everything I do isn't enough! 🤷♂️🥳
A Brilliant Man....
The first half of this video is just Peter Kropotkin’s writings on anarchism and mutual aid, one century later.
"Two wonderful qualities that made human species - cooperation and competition."
"It's easy to stand tall when you're standing on someone's neck."
Cooperation is what made our species so successful. We are one of the most cooperative species: language and culture are both a result of cooperation, as well as tools that aid and enhance cooperation.
Property rights are peoples' rights; the tragedy of the commons is not a lesson to be lost. Indeed, it is only through property rights that compassion can be effective and sustainable. George's heart was in the right place, and cooperation is essential for the respect of other's rights and support of those who are in trouble . . . But I won't be giving up my property, thank you very much. Still, he made a good point which needs to be considered, as George wasn't your run-of-the-mill thinker by any means.

"They fight and show their sexual prowess with their guns and missiles. Those penis shaped weapons." - Carlin
"Yeah I'm pretty sure there are some physics and aerodynamics involved in the shape of a missile. Can't make a bomb a shape of a twat and expect it to make it to another country. Maybe if you frisbee it. Even then that gap is going to create some serious drag." - Bill Burr.
Yea but they purposely paint the top a different color than the rest. Like it’s the tip of a penis. Especially with rockets.
"If we ... ask Nature: 'who are the fittest: those who are continually at war with each other, or those who support one another?' we at once see that those animals which acquire habits of mutual aid are undoubtedly the fittest. They have more chances to survive, and they attain, in their respective classes, the highest development of intelligence and bodily organisation." - Peter Kropotkin

"Let's say there were only 10 of us, and we were dropped on this planet already formed. One of the first things we'd say would be 'is everybody OK? let's get something to eat'. And that should be the first thing any society says. But we don't. And I just think competition got the upper hand over cooperation."
