You'll need alot of luck from my experience. In my 20's I had absolutely horrible luck finding jobs, no one would hire me no matter what I tried. I didn't go to college or anything like that because I had learning issues in school, particularly with math, and almost failed high school. The only jobs I got was by knowing someone who helped me get on, and then gaining experience within that industry. I've only worked for 2 companies in my industry. I've worked at my current company for 11 years now. But I really need a change in my life, and need to change jobs due to really insanely long commutes, and a whole host of other reasons. (very, very long story) But now at age 38 I've had nothing but problems getting jobs over the last 1.5 years...just basic manual labor oriented jobs, because that's in line with my normal type of work experience. I need just a basic job close to home so that I can then focus on taking steps to learn something new, or find an apprenticeship/training program...or something like that. With my current job I have no time for anything like that. I'm always burned out, and have to get up super early and I get back home really late.
I wish it was as easy as stated. I have bad anxiety and get caught up with a lot of my words. Overall I always just seem so awkward and very unprofessional. I feel like I’ll never get a job :(

Also, if they say, the manager or the supervisor isn't available, should I hand in the resume instead to whoever employee I talked to?

You know maybe I'm not trying hard enough and I have to do this again today but everytime I go into apply with a company or workplace and ask or inquire about a job they then proceed to tell me to go online. I've been unemployed since June and don't know what to do at this point honestly. I feel like walking in seems like a big waste of time but at the same time when you apply online at home you also don't hear anything back. It's like a lose-lose situation to where you almost have to beg and keep calling back the company for a job. If it wasn't for my mom harping at me to get a job every 30 seconds and getting dirty looks for not helping out around the house and all of this BS then I wouldn't care about getting one to begin with honestly. I told her I didn't want my next job to make me feel enslaved like my last job of almost 6 years that I hated so much and she keeps aggravating me and telling me to take whatever I can get. She knows I have anxiety and she's just not making it easy on me because that's all I ever hear her complain about. The worst thing about job hunting is you have outsiders looking down on you and treating you like dirt all because they think it's so easy when it's not easy to find one.
my bad not replying for so long what happened was I asked they said the manager had just left then I asked when they would be back and they told me between so and so hours and then the employee said they had just had a bunch of interviews and hired like 3 people so they were probably not gonna hire anyone else. I walked into the GNC in my mall yesterday to try and get a job and the manager said that he would review my application and looked at my Polo I had on then looked at me up and down and my hair was all fucked up. I know what you mean man the struggle is real and been trying to find a new job and I've been unemployed since June. If it wasn't for my family bitching at me for getting one every chance they could get then I wouldn't even care about trying to get one to begin with. Thing is the dude said he was hiring and that he would review it but I already know he ain't even gonna look through it. He said he was short staffed but if he really "needed" a worker then I would have got the interview right then and there. I also live here in Florida but getting a job is tough af here. There’s a Subway really close to where I live that has a job ad on the door that says that I can apply in person. Even with the confirmation that applying in person is acceptable I’m still so worried about it

lol compilation no i didn’t go with her, she dropped me off and i went in alone and asked to speak to the manager, he asked for my resumé and I got the interview right then and there . i got the job but i quit a couple weeks later bc of covid, it’s a grocery store so it’s the most contaminated place you can be. I’d suggest not to get a job now bc you could get sick but if you do, don’t take your mom or dad bc you’ll look like you need someone’s help getting a job IMO , your parents won’t be there when your working so they shouldn’t be there when applying. Sorry if that sounds mean, its just solid advice 🙂 also make sure you have a resume on hand and make sure your stuff is relevant to the job. I have job experience since I was 13 and a 4.0 GPA so it was pretty easy for me to convince them

I applied at a hotel as a receptionist, i got an interview at the spot and everything was going smoothly i surprisingly didnt feel so nervous, they asked me to comeback the next day to look inside the hotel with the manager, i got so happy i thought i got accepted but the fuckers wanted me to work as a dish washer and clean the rooms :)) and i have a master degree i hated how they underestimated me!! i got so mad when they told me that at that moment i didnt care who was infront of me i got the fuck out of that hotel.
Dj Cessika Thank you for asking me💕 here’s how it went ( The job was King Soopers btw): I showed up 15- 20 mins early and I checked in at customer service as I was instructed and they had me wait for like 10 mins and said my interviewer would be there shortly then 20- 30 mins went by and one of the mangers told me that my interviewer was in a meeting and she had me write my name and number down so they could reschedule.. but let me remind you it was a interview that they set up.. so I was kinda hurt bc I worked so hard and I was so nerves and happy that finally someone gave me a chance and that’s all I really wanted 😒and 2- 3 days go by so I decided to call them back and one of the managers told me to come in that same day ( I couldn’t bc I was not in the area and I don’t even have a car or a job to pay for my transportation) I told her I could come the very next day and she said Monday’s are bad for her and then she said well I’ll just give u a call and let u know when and I was like okay have a nice day and she said okay bye, It’s been like 3 weeks and I haven’t heard anything.. "ask to speak to the manager" - this is why you should do your research before venturing into the unknown. This is the factual, accurate information the world needs, not crap about war and stress over climate change (let's face it, humans have their own personal worries which are greater than climate change and all this garma except for car dependency and holiday visas (owning a car will NEVER fit into my budget and I can go on 10 more holidays without a car) is advice that I'll forget and ignore), or extra unnecessary panic, but something useful and valuable that could pull the trigger. Climate change is being slowed down and we will each net zero eventually.
2024, tips i would say now since mostly its online, you would really go in person for resturant jobs, big companies like walmart, McDonalds, target is all online but its always good to present yourself in person. But also lets say you walk into a restaurant filled with people, dont be nervous and go up to an employee and ask for the manager. Your their for the work not for what people think of you in a few minutes. Never be shy

Almost forgot ;P 3 days ago I submitted a walk-in res. to two stores, the first one was kinda iffy, the Manager said to do it online (I also told them I applied at this place months ago online as well) And just asked if I could leave my res. with em. For the second, they asked my age, happily took my res and am literally an hour away for the job interview! (Got a call back the same day I sent the res.) It's a hit or miss tbh, like some stores can be a bit rude, but overall it took way quicker, just socially riskier to the dignity!! Lmao, 😂😂

Tactical Nite nah retail stores are good too work at and hire at 16. just apply as a cashier. retail stores however do not pay as much as some other types of jobs so if you need to pay car insurance/ car bills/ gas you might have to work more

I’m 16 and applying for a job as a customer service assistant at heb tomorrow. I’m normally really good with eye contact and public speaking but when it comes to something im fighting for I start to stutter and it gets rlly obvious that I’m nervous. 😬

lol compilation no i didn’t go with her, she dropped me off and i went in alone and asked to speak to the manager, he asked for my resumé and I got the interview right then and there . i got the job but i quit a couple weeks later bc of covid, it’s a grocery store so it’s the most contaminated place you can be. I’d suggest not to get a job now bc you could get sick but if you do, don’t take your mom or dad bc you’ll look like you need someone’s help getting a job IMO , your parents won’t be there when your working so they shouldn’t be there when applying. Sorry if that sounds mean, its just solid advice 🙂 also make sure you have a resume on hand and make sure your stuff is relevant to the job. I have job experience since I was 13 and a 4.0 GPA so it was pretty easy for me to convince them

I applied at a hotel as a receptionist, i got an interview at the spot and everything was going smoothly i surprisingly didnt feel so nervous, they asked me to comeback the next day to look inside the hotel with the manager, i got so happy i thought i got accepted but the fuckers wanted me to work as a dish washer and clean the rooms :)) and i have a master degree i hated how they underestimated me!! i got so mad when they told me that at that moment i didnt care who was infront of me i got the fuck out of that hotel.

Dj Cessika Thank you for asking me💕 here’s how it went ( The job was King Soopers btw): I showed up 15- 20 mins early and I checked in at customer service as I was instructed and they had me wait for like 10 mins and said my interviewer would be there shortly then 20- 30 mins went by and one of the mangers told me that my interviewer was in a meeting and she had me write my name and number down so they could reschedule.. but let me remind you it was a interview that they set up.. so I was kinda hurt bc I worked so hard and I was so nerves and happy that finally someone gave me a chance and that’s all I really wanted 😒and 2- 3 days go by so I decided to call them back and one of the managers told me to come in that same day ( I couldn’t bc I was not in the area and I don’t even have a car or a job to pay for my transportation) I told her I could come the very next day and she said Monday’s are bad for her and then she said well I’ll just give u a call and let u know when and I was like okay have a nice day and she said okay bye, It’s been like 3 weeks and I haven’t heard anything.. I keep trying but nobody will give me the opportunity to show them how much of a good worker I am, I’m fina be 16 this month so hopefully age might be what was holding me back 😢I just hope I can find a job and help my mom and Little sister bc they all mean the world to me and I just want them to have all the things I never had growing up bc of money problems💓Thank you for listening

2024, tips i would say now since mostly its online, you would really go in person for resturant jobs, big companies like walmart, McDonalds, target is all online but its always good to present yourself in person. But also lets say you walk into a restaurant filled with people, dont be nervous and go up to an employee and ask for the manager. Your their for the work not for what people think of you in a few minutes. Never be shy
Also always avoid unsure websites that ask social security number, unless you are sure the website is secure. if ssn needed present in person

Almost forgot ;P 3 days ago I submitted a walk-in res. to two stores, the first one was kinda iffy, the Manager said to do it online (I also told them I applied at this place months ago online as well) And just asked if I could leave my res. with em. For the second, they asked my age, happily took my res and am literally an hour away for the job interview! (Got a call back the same day I sent the res.) It's a hit or miss tbh, like some stores can be a bit rude, but overall it took way quicker, just socially riskier to the dignity!! Lmao, 😂😂

Tactical Nite nah retail stores are good too work at and hire at 16. just apply as a cashier. retail stores however do not pay as much as some other types of jobs so if you need to pay car insurance/ car bills/ gas you might have to work more
