Ueda-san is so humble. And kudos to Geoff for asking good questions very respectfully.
As a Team Ico fan, my eyes are wet.

The last guardian defines what ueda is: genius. I finished the game and i've cried in the end, his games are not mere games but real art, great interview, to me, ueda san should be in the hall of fame gamer like kojima and myamoto, all uedas games are masterpieces!

What I am even more shocked about is that nobody posted a reply to your beautiful comment. All 3 games were beyond belief. The last guardian had me in pieces. I love his games so much.
I still find myself watching the last guardian trailer at times and it brings back the emotion. Fumito Ueda is a magician. Hope there are more works of art in the pipeline.

it's interesting to hear that he's a gamer. of all developers, he's the one I would have thought most likely to not be into games. I don't mean that in a bad way, just that the style of his games seems really far removed from what is going on in the industry.

The Playstation 3 simply couldn't run the game in full HD and 30fps, so they had to scratch a lot of gameplay mechanics (for example a second Trico), but after the PS3 was announced, Sony forced them to switch consoles, which Ueda didn't want to happen. He left sony and founded his own company called "genDesign" and thought about a new project, but he couldn't let go of The Last Guardian. He decided to work together with Sony to complete the game, and the entire Sony team helped him to port the game for the PS4, which took about 2 years (2012-2014). After that, he was able to add every feature he had to scratch before and finally completed the game.

C Hamann -- Nice recap. So basically the entire secrecy behind this game is that the PS3 was too weak and crappy? No wonder no one ever says anything about what took so long (because it would make Sony look bad). It's unfortunate because it makes the game's team look bad when it wasn't their fault.

Not about power as much as it was about memory. DYK that the batmobile alone in Arkham Knight took more memory than the entire RAM of last gen consoles?

Wow. IMO ueda saying that he doesn't want to say whether the Last Guardian is in the same universe as SoTC and Ico, or why it is or isn't linked because it would spoil everything, to me that says the biggest connection between the games has got to be the Master of the Valley. I've been suspecting that there is some connection between the Master, and Dormin, and the queen in Ico. Not to mention, the green goo in the barrels I also believe is connected to the other games as well. And of course the horns.

The 3 games definitely share the same universe. So many evidence proves it. But where and the time they take place is still a mystery. Along with many other mysteries the games don’t reveal. I understand why Ueda doesn’t want to tell us cos it would ruin them. Leave it to the players theories. That’s what makes it fun
