    Been keeping a colony next to my porch of carpenters and they have survived there 3rd winter and are looking good and strong with substantial growth 😀

      I do similar at a park near my home! We are on year three as well! Any time I have leftovers I try to set a little aside for them. I'm careful to not feed them too often in case they get overwhelmed with food and it may mold.

      Those asian ants must think it's indeed exotic.. there are no maple trees in Asia, and the foreign smell might not be too enticing.

    The colour variety on the Queen's is truly incredible! I never would have expected it from looking at the colours of the workers. How is it you get such amazing footage of them!?

    After you put the drop of Maple Syrup next to the weaver ants, I love how one of them just looked at the syrup for a few seconds, then seemed to look directly at the camera. Almost as if it say "What am I supposed to do with this?"

    I actually have a lot of mango trees around, and there are usually 2-3 weaver ant nests per branch, honestly amazing
    they do pack quite a sting.

      It was at that moment my daughter asked to have a nappy on, even though she had been perfectly silent the whole time.. and I ended up missing the whole exchange..
      Ended up having to rewind once I had escaped her view..

    Dude, imagine being that guy who first discovered weaver ants. You see a strange mass of leaves in the woods, and suddenly notice hundreds of ants crawling out of it. xD
    I think weaver ants are among my favorite ants. And I especially love their beautiful queens. It was amazing seeing the ants form that barrier of ants around the worm to hold it in place.

    I have a whole kingdom of carpenter ants in my frontyard, and I have been feeding them and checking up of them from time to time, thier nest is so big now from last time I've seen the nest
    Update:THE ANT KINGDOM IS HUGE NOW, ITS AS BIG AS CAR WHEELE, AND THERE IS SO MANY NEW ANTS, OMFG IM SO HAPPY THAT MY FIRE ANTS ARE FINALLY SOLVED, HAVENT SEEN A FIRE ANT FOR DAYS NOW

      I can't find myself liking carpenter ants much locally, knowing they are some of the ants that might end up eating my house. X.x i don't go out of my way to kill them, i just don't have the heart to feed them.

    Gotta love your videos! I'm currently watching this in the basement, we had a tornado last night. This really helped me feel better about the situation.
    Also, don't worry, it didn't hit us. I just heard tornado sirens going off, no destruction. It's all ok.

    Those are amazing ants indeed. Last time I saw them was at the shore of Lake Begnas in Nepal, some years ago. Here at home I only have a Crematogaster ionia colony on my balcony to feed. 🙂

    I saw a video, I think on Monster Bug Wars, where a weaver ant nest was blown into a paper wasp nest by a storm! I've been in love with weaver ants ever since... and 2 ant videos later was the 1st AntsCanada video I ran into! :)

    Here in the Philippines, we call them Antiks cause they're always in some sort off antics and are always in our mango, rambutan or any fruit bearing trees

    Honestly, your videos don't make me want to keep ants, moreso then pay more attention to their a tivities around me. Recently, I've had a colony of Australian red meat ants pop up in my back yard... hella aggressive, but fascinating. Thank you for continuing to open peoples eyes to the world around them.

    I have a little fatsia tree on the balcony and there seem to be a colony nearby who likes to use it to chill in. At any given time there's generally a few ants just chillin' in the folds.

    Hey, Ants Canada, if you didn’t know, you are in the nesting location of Anoplolepis Gracilipes (yellow crazy ants), that means after giving what we AC family calls “The Golden Empire” away, you can start another (if you manage to find more to be exact)

    I was just watching some ants using some power lines to travel between some trees in a park near my house. I took some pictures thinking I should try to identify them, and they look identical to the weavers you found! Such a cool species!! 😄
