- The Novation LaunchKey Mk3 is a cool little controller with Ableton Live integration. This simple jam is done all on the LaunchKey demonstrating the basic workflow including the very funky arpeggiator with Mutate and Deviate functions.
And it's not an iPad it's a Microsoft Surface Pro 6.

I do like the fact they put pitch and mod on it. So many mini keyboards don't have it anymore. That is a crime against keyboard controllers in my book!

It’s a function in Ableton Live - “record quantisation” in the settings

thx so much for this video! other videos have so much talking, that you get through a lot before you reach any useful info, if at all. i have a question, how do you use the launchkey to move to the next scene in ableton? or is there no way? i would like to move up and down different scenes , to get to a specific slot.
I believe you can, you navigate around in Session view and then hit the Launch Scene button. I don't have this keyboard wired up so i can't check, but there's stuff on it in the manual.

No, not really. Novation has just released some controllers for FL Studio - you should check those out.

But you dind't record most of the stuff with the arp etc.... so, it was done just real time and not recorded?
Not exactly sure what you mean? I recorded some clips of drums, synth and piano and then performed some arp sounds over the top - is that ok?
Amazing! Thank you for the beautiful performance. :D I have also just bought a LaunchKey mini mk3 and have a little problem - Does the pad have sensitivities? Because there is no pressure difference on my pads but I can see your hi-hat pad sounds it has!
They are velocity sensitive - maybe check to see if it's disabled in the software app.
I bought that and now I cannot connect to my interface motu 2, do u know which cable must I buy?!? in amazon are the chinese who send cables but never is a cable...if u get me a link I would appreciate a lot, I am from europe, thanks a lot
Do you need 2 USB ports? In which case get a hub, any hub.

I just bought that keyboard today at guitar center and I’ll be getting it in 3 to 5 working days. But it doesn’t have a volume knob can you program one of those knobs for volume.

How do you undo with this setup?
Great chill tune! How did you configure the LaunchKey mini to auto Arm each track when moving between tracks? When I do the same maneuver as you, it only selects the new Track, but does not Arm it for recording.
Not sure that I do. I change tracks and then hit the Record button to record.....
Does this get recorded as a short loop or a long clip with all the changes happening? Thanks
Yes, it’s with Ableton Live where you create loops, so each part is an instrument in Live that I’m playing from the launch key which is then looped and then I can trigger the loops from the pads

Not sure what that means. Ableton has a script for the LaunchKey Mini if that's what you're after.
Hi, I have a question. (I’m new at Ableton and I recently have a Novation Launchkey mini like yours in the video, so I still have to figure out how this all works...) I wanted to make a beat, so I pressed the record button on the launchkey. It did recorded it, but I can’t see it anywhere on my arrangement time selection and it just keeps playing. I don’t know how I can edit my beat it on Ableton.
Well it must be there somewhere :D look in the Clips/Session view, not the arrangement - that's probably where you'll find it. The LaunchKey creates clips when you clip record, it doesn't enable recording in the arrangement (i think).

Hey Robin! I think only you can give an honest answer here. Will it be possible to run Surface Pro by a controller like MK3 or Push or anything WITHOUT an interface. Meaning will Windows on SP6/7 handle delivering pad/key press to Live without a lag? I am thinking of changing mobile platform from iPad to Surface IF it can deliver without extra wires/interface/charger on ago (not on a studio table, but train, backyard, etc). Also SP7 promising better performance. Do you think it can handle decent Ableton project with just SP and cans? What drivers would it use? Say I just freeze everything and have a single Arturia VST, couple EFX. Can it be done without lag, so can play MK3 or jus5 pc keyboard interactive? Very cool and easy going laydback tune, keep you interested too. Enjoying! TNX!
Hello! I have lots and lots of videos on using ASIO4ALL drivers with the onboard sound and the performance you get in Ableton and other software - browse through the videos on my channel and you'll find them. Is it possible? YES! Is it awesome? Not exactly, kind of, depends on what you want and the software you're using. Ableton Live doesnt like modern Windows WSAPI drivers so you have to use ASIO4ALL - it can work - see my videos :)

Pads - beat making? Not sure what you mean? Which pads? I'm using a pad from Ableton Live's wavetable synth.... not sure what you're asking, sorry.

Oh, ha! Yes, right, of course that's what you meant, lol. Sorry! Yeah, felt good to me, a little small in comparison to a Maschine or something but the velocity response was really good and workable, so yeah, as good as if not better than most.
Don't know what you mean by "scratching"? You get a code for Ableton Lite when you register your keyboard
@child of YAHAWAH What are you talking about?? DJ scratching? This is a little MIDI keyboard and this is the only video I've done on it. There's no manual in the box - just register your hardware online and you'll get the extras. I think you think this is something it's not :)

You’ll have to check out the manual or at least explain what you’re trying to transpose and what do you mean by “sounds”?
It changes sounds like pianos, guitars, etc, every time you push + - and hold shift..instead of transpoing keys..?

would have been nice to hear you filter that not-303 sound, yea, I think as a jam it's nice, try not to what I do and get too indulgent on the keys (IMO) I think you would get more out of your not-acid baseline would have been more complimented by the change at 5:19... greats stuff cheers, hope I wasn't patronising too much x

But u r bending plastic...also its a 100$ MiDI Controller...its good for the prize...the Pads feel good and u have good feeling knobs
