This song is for my husband Jimmy who is gone from us 5 years ago tomorrow,he is the love of my life. We saw Kenny a few times, and they are spectacular. When my time here on earth is over,we will meet again in Heaven,I know he is waiting there for me,and we will rest in peace forever more. Love You,Pat
I've just listened to "I Need You", probably 8times in a row, and it's absolutley beautiful. Kenny, you are the best DooWop artist I have ever heard. Please come to Australia.
First time I heard you sing this song, I played it over & over. Really love it, but love everything you and Planotones sing. You are the greatest. and so are the Planotones.
I just saw Kenny in Clearwater, FL at the Capitol Theatre too, on 8/28/09 and he was so wonderful... the best show I've ever seen. I was in a trance all weekend after the show and still have a smile on my face!! He's so great!
How beautiful. I miss my late husband so much. As he was dying I must have said "I love you so much", a hundred times or more. His last words on this earth were " I love you too". It hurts so much to lose your best friend, lover, and the father of your children. Now I wait to see him again in heaven where I know he should be.
Although I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for 42 years, I would love for KV to sing this to me. Songs don't do anything for my husband, but they are my memories of a sweet past. Thank you, Kenny Vance.
Oh what heart warming song that exceeds the standards set by the original version. Lyrics are so simple and pointed. Kennys' renditions is a simple love story about me and most all of us that can bring tears of joy running down our cheeks. I hope he in heaven with us. He is our gift from God.
What a beautiful song......I could listen to it over and over. Perfect doo-wop melody. Thank you Kenny Vance & The Planetones.....from an ardent Aussie fan.
Kenny you sound so great singing this song. It gives me goose bumps. So romatic. I keep listening to it over and over. You are a genuis and a legend in your own time
Wow!This is my first time hearing this song;and I thought I knew all of the oldies!@ Kenny is truly the best guy on the scene today,he and his Planotones do a terrific doowop show
I was there too~~ what a fabulous performance! I was the same way, I smiled all night, it was one of the best shows I have seen, ever! I was so impressed by their showmanship and how they gave us so much of their soul~~ especially Kenny. We were lucky to be there!!!!
kenny brings back what is real about the 50dies,he is honest and real,in a world filled with trouble,he really brings back the the days of doo wop, your a great singer kenny keep it up! betty
Sometimes life can be so confusing. We all carry pain from the past and sometimes anxiety about the future and what it should be or mean. We are often overwhelmed just trying to get by day to day. As we get older our worries can become deeper and we sometimes can become stuck trying not to make anymore mistakes. But its all okay while listening to Kenny.
Kenny, great delivery , smooth one of my current fav's. Been racking my brain for the original artist. Something tells me it's one of those old rockabilly cross-overs.I do remember hearing the orig. yrs. ago. RK, an old doo-wopper and Erasums Hall alum.
September 24, 2011, happy anniversary to my love who couldn't be here for our anniversary. We still love each other but this song is so from the heart!
Kenny...absolutely love this song! Where can it be bought? I own your "Live at Cuillo" DVD plus your other CD's. I just checked your website hoping to find this song but it's not there! You guys are the best and thanks a million for "keeping the music alive!"
Kenny's got solid musical roots --- he was a founding member of Jay & the Americans. "Looking for an Echo" is his best; this is a close second. (And he sings "Angel Baby" on pitch.)
I was once watching a movie..about a 50's car that was going to go over the bridge.. It was a Fantasy Movie.i only heard part of the song!!! It was so pretty..i never heard it before..So as I was in Robert Gordons file...THEIR i found this song! I couldn't hardly believe it!!! I LOVE this song.so Pretty! More than I can say for the Movie Well the beginning & the End was the BEST in the show! The rest of the show wasn't 50's!! That wasn't good!!! I COULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAISY MAE
Kenny Vance, a great talent in the music business, got his start with Jay and the Americans. He later became a music director and song writter. He appeared in the movie American Hot Wax along with a group he formed called The Planotones They continued to make appearences singing Do Wop and Street Corner Harmony music. In my opinion, although, this rendition of "Need You" is good, only the original by Donnie Owens is the Best, as is the case with most originals. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine
arty- post some videos...where are you playing this weekend..i live in NJ id love to stop by and hear you sing...not a vocalist?? i guess his plaque in the Vocal Group hall of Fame should be taken down cause you think he sucks...
Kenny does a very nice cover as a ballad; however I still prefer Donnie Owens' 1958 original backed by the Ben Denton singers, which had a slight Country and western style to it.Having said that, I believe Kenny Vance is today the best interpreter of my cherished Doowops.
Sorry to disagree with Ron from the Highway Stars Magazine. Donnie Owens might have been the first to sing this song but NOBODY does it with more feeling than Kenny. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!!!!
why do people call it doo wop.. it's not and ask any singer of the 50's and they will say the same.. a dj started to call songs doo wop in the 70's after having doo and wop in the songs any way doo wop is really Rhythm and blues and this is not
wrecker4 Sorry , The 1st DooWop was name the 1st DooWop song in 1954...... Called" Earth Angel"....By The Penquins.. I Remember this so well because I was a witness back then........ 1954.....Earth Angel
Kenny Vance takes me back to the fifties and brings back a meaningful time in my life.

This video is great but it doesn't do the man justice. You have to see him live, he's truly incredible.

Wow!!!!
Kenny's got solid musical roots --- he was a founding member of Jay & the Americans.
"Looking for an Echo" is his best; this is a close second. (And he sings "Angel Baby" on pitch.)
This was recorded by Donnie Owens in 1958.I`m not sure when it was written.
By the late Donnie Owens in 1958. It did peak at 25 on Billboard. As always Kenny is the best.
Absolutely LOVELY!!! I want to fall in love RIGHT NOW!!! :)
Hey baby, here I am......meow.

HAPPY BIRTH DAY LOVE YOU GIANNA
can anybody write the complete letter of that music? My language is Portuguese. For who writes... thank you
Very nice version of the 1958 Donnie Owens' classic.
Need You the best words in a Doo Wop song.

ArtyElvis always goes funny about kenny when hese been sniffing old ladys bicycle saddles
Sorry to disagree with Ron from the Highway Stars Magazine. Donnie Owens might have been the first to sing this song but NOBODY does it with more feeling than Kenny. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!!!!
Kenny Vance is a great singer. However, he doesn't come close to Donnie Owens or Johnny Jack version of this song.
arty- you are a better singer than Kenny Vance? prove it, post a video...usually there is a reason why people cant get work..
why do people call it doo wop.. it's not and ask any singer of the 50's and they will say the same.. a dj started to call songs doo wop in the 70's after having doo and wop in the songs any way doo wop is really Rhythm and blues and this is not
