Hello from Portland Oregon, you have taught me so many techniques to make quilt binding easier. One thing I learned recently is to roll my sewn, folded and ironed binding onto a empty lint roller wand. It keeps it neat and easy to roll out and then sew it on. I will try the glue/iron technique as well as joining the ends of the binding as you demonstrated. Great series of tutorials!

This video you've shared here is a game changer for me and I'm so grateful! I've been longing to try to quilt my tops instead of hand-tying and I love the wavy stitch, but I don't have an ideal set up and I didn't know to use the walking foot with it. I had such a great time following your directions to quilt a top with my walking foot, the guide and the wavy stitch! Thank you. Thank you.

Hi, I am in love with the wavy stitches and I started quilt with it my first quilt. , thanks for the tips . I am new using MC15000, Just got it this year, so am learning a bit each day.
Yesterday I was quilting , but something got wrong.
I am using Serpentine stitch No. 8 , not using feet F, instead I am working with Accufeed Feet AD.
My setting length 7. Width 5 , tension 5 And pressure auto.
Now, I can only sew one line or two with this setting.
Then , something estrange happens and the waves turn smaller and closer . I have try everything and still not working . I have to switch off the machine , re set again , try on some samples , and keep doing this several times. Finally I am waiting at least 2-3 hours the try again.
    Or wait till next day.
    What could be wrong ?
I even safe the settings, but nothing works. So I am just able to sew one line each day.
I want to cry , I can figure out what is the problem.
    Do you have any idea??

Thank you so much for this tutorial, I have been struggling with quilting my own quilts on my JUKI HZL 5100 . Mainly because The throat space is only about six or 7 inches in width. The height is about 6 inches . I'm not sure what the width of your machine is? I sure would like to know what model your machine is also? I'm looking for a new machine in the future. You just showed me that it's possible to quilt a quilt. On a machine at home. I was looking into juki TL- 15 , Because it has a taller height in the throat space. But in comparison I'm not sure what your throat space height is ? Either way you sure made it look easier. Thank you for all your informative information. And being able to see you quilt the quilt makes all the difference. I'm joining your channel just from seeing this video one time. In hopes that I will learn more from you in the future Thank you.

Welcome! You just sew past your quilt top by a little bit and then trim the entire thing square when you are done. The binding stitches will hold all of the quilting stitches secure. You can also sew a stitch about an 1/8 inch around the edges when you are done quilting to secure the stitches before or after trimming square.

Your quilting looks great I love the wavy stich :) Thank you for demonstrating this on video. I have a Bernina machine, which I love, but it's older than me. I am considering investing in a sewing machine with the larger throat plate for quilting. It appears you like the Janome. I've also considered Bernina. Any tips on how to find the right machine for my needs?

    • @notesfromleisa-land
      @notesfromleisa-land 2 года назад +1

I have both an old Bernina and a newer Bernina...the newer still only has 7.5" of throat space. After much deliberations, I started to see what wider throat space machines there were. I just bought a used JUKI Kirei and it has 12" of throat space. It is like moving from a tiny house to a mansion. I bought simply for the real estate, but it has thread cutting, pivot, two throat plates and feeders, even feed etc and tons of stitches. Dollar for dollar many more features (and you would find same for other japanese brands. Granted, they don't have the same "feel" as a Bernina, but performance and features make them a good value as you would pay thousands more for feature upgrade on Bernina.

I recommend when you go to your dealer, try out as many machines as you can. Definitely look at throat space and if you use decorative stitches, see how many are offered. Also see if a walking foot is included or if it must be purchased separately. Also ( a biggie), make sure if you need servicing, a technician is at least close to you. I tried at least eight machines before I decided on mine, and am very happy I did.

I usually quilt at my dining room table. I'm only standing since this is the easiest place to record video :) Although, I do occasionally stand and quilt to mix things up.

Just found your channel. I love the way you handle quilting the top. I am new to doing my own tops and wonder how you choose straight or curvy when there is a pattern like stars log cabin or flying geese. Do you just start on one end and do your lines. I am wanting to try it on 20 inch squares thanks

Thank for your tutorial. What pattern is your quilt. I really like it and I would like to make one. Thank you.

One of the reasons I love Pfaff sewing machines so much, you don't have to have a walking foot.

Does Pfaff have a large throat? I do live the built in walking foot, a friend has a small Pfaff but that foot looks so handy.

@@sarat8574 I have a small one that I actually made some quilts on, but it wasn't easy. Then I got a Pfaff made for quilting and I love it. It has a large throat and I really like not having to change to a walking all the time.

Do you just baste to top of quilt or do baste all???

You didn't pin it at all? Wouldn't that cause puckers? Did you spray baste? This is a pretty quilt. Thank you.

This is spray basted! I don't have any luck pin basting so spray basting is my go-to. I have the spray baste tutorial linked above.

Do you always stand when quilting? Or just for the tutorial? I'm curious if that helps keep the quilt in line while quilting.

Just for tutorials these days. I used to stand and quilt more because it can help to really handle the quilt. Now my aging body can't handle it as well...lol..

Nice change of pace from straight line stitching. I don’t have a large throat space on my computerized machine that has this stitch but definitely will give it a try will wall hangings or baby quilts.
