My grandmother use to be good friends with Ida Lupino an her husband Howard Duff in the ‘60’s and 70’s when she lived in L.A. She use to tell me and my brother and sisters when we were very small about the good times with Ida Lupino, like going to parties, shopping, etc.

Ida Lupino was a mesmerizing actor and a superbly gifted writer/director. For a time she was married to (and collaborated with) my great uncle, Collier Young. One of my life's greatest regrets was not meeting her as a child, when our family lived only hours away.

They divorced in 1951 after a short 2 year marriage. You must be around 80-85 years old now, good on you.

Katherine Hepburn was strictly a lesbian who had an affinity for dark-haired young women. Her “love affair” with Spencer Tracy was, supposedly, a big sham.

didn’t she shack up w Hughes for a time (?)

I've watched a few of Ida Lupino's films and enjoyed them all.
This was predictable though, too obvious Drew was the Cavalier.

Great movie. Just one problem. A serious one. Not one hint of dixieland jazz band music.

It's not that I don't like the movies and series Lupino was in, but I've never really cared for her as an actress. Her roles (or acting) always seemed to be very monotone and dry.
