There was something about Kurt that made you just shut up and listen to him and his voice. His pain is raw, real, and I wish with every ounce of my being that he was still here. RIP Kurt, you will never be forgotten. I hope you're singing and feel nothing but happiness in heaven.
***** So why he decide to play songs like jesus dont want me for a sunbeam if he was an atheist and if you see some clips of bleach tours in his van they travelled he had a jesus icon
He might have been one, might have not. That's not the point though. I made a nice comment about him being happy in heaven. Why is this an argument? I get that this is RUclips but damn.
He's running All Apologies over a year before the studio drop. It's personal for him and he knows he's fucked up and not gonna make it. He starts screwing up at 1:17. Pretty deep clip.
I noticed that too, he stuffs up a little and gets a bit nervous but pulls it back beautifully, some vulnerable vibe to the performance here , beautiful
I can understand why some find it lazy and poorly done, but this is easily one of my favorite performances of a song by them. It’s completely different from the others in a strange way. It is intimate in a way unlike anything else they’ve done. The nuanced imperfections in Kurt’s vocals here are incredible to listen to. It feels as though he’s singing right beside you in an airy field, a personal spur of the moment song. Krist’s bass line is beautiful with this 60s psychedelic vibe to it. It all just feels special somehow.
Definitely the psychedelic vibe on this one . Kurt was probably seeing something only the strongest lyrics were singing back to him! All apologies!!!!! Cool video for this but I love the song more!
You can see his emotion almost overwhelmed him at several points. And that's why this band is so iconic. Real, undying passion. 'It means so much to so many people' - Krist Novoselic.
such a beautiful performance. what i love about the reading concert is how all the mistakes and imperfections just add to the beauty of it. its honest, you can tell kurt really felt what he was singing especially at this particular moment with all the things being wrote about his family and his daughter just being born. him getting lost with the guitar part and his choking up during the verse all just add to the power when the chorus finally hits. that scream at 2:01 is powerful man, rest in peace kurt, you're music is still just as potent to this day.
1:23-1:32 I think nobody noticed this yet. Kurt almost cried at this point. You can see around his eyes it's turning red, swallowed the last letters, closed his eyes to keep it in then started blinking like crazy. This happened to me many times so I recognized it immediately. Take this as a personal opinion though. I could be wrong. I think he got very emotional about his kiddo, all the lyrics and the meaning behind them. As a dad having no words to tell or so many but not allowed to by some burden. "all my words are grey", "I don't have the right". He gives "all apologies" to his kid for being who he was, "what else could I be, all apologies" Same thing. He could have chosen any other paths and professions but he became a celebrity instead, "all apologies". It was all written directly to his kid not just "for". This song is so beautiful and that ten seconds just made it all clear for me. I got so emotional when I realized it. If this is what was on his mind when writing it then I think he truly is one of the most underappreciated artists of all time. By the way: Whatever happened to him either way he may have known it beforehand. It would make sense about the "what else could I write, I don't have the right" to his daughter. All the apologies to the kiddo because this is all what will remain of him. The songs, the stories and he will not see her grow up. I am taking this too far, I know.
"Eventually, child welfare services launched an investigation questioning their parenting abilities. The investigation was eventually dismissed, but not without a significant amount of legal wrangling and Cobain being removed from her parents' custody for a short time, beginning when she was two weeks old. After a lengthy legal battle, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love were able to regain custody of their daughter. They employed several nannies over the next two years to help them care for her. According to Michael Azerrad in Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana, this incident inspired Kurt Cobain to write the song "Rape Me".[9]" from wikipedia, I can't imagine what its like being a parent, must've been tough on Love and Cobain.
If you watch the full versions of this concert, Kurt had just announced (just prior to starting this song) his 12 day old daughter and asked them to say 'we love you C'... that's why the tears etc I guess. Cheers :)
Very interesting ....and how much pain did Kurt hold or have inside ? How much pain, harm or injuries did he endur his whole life ? Do you think that music (actually) heals ... or that humans continue express what they might need (once and a while)? It seems to be one of the hardst things for a perp to say sorry , feel regret or make a promise to never harm or injure again !! Many souls of the cusp of going to hell, seems like it !!
Why does everyone think he was out of tune and playing like he was lazy? That's the whole point of grunge it's lazy guitar riffs and strong hard rock, yet melodic. Kurt cobain catapulted an underground sub genre of music to the mainstream. He brought kids who were sick of hair metal and garbage music to a era of hope and restoration. He brought the world in the grunge scene which is lazy music like I said previously. Yet everybody liked him. The whole point is that to do bring an underground sub genre into the mainstream is amazing, I miss you Kurt. Rant over.

Sound garden, Alice in chains played great music and played grunge, but with nirvana they were something else to the world they were different and surely themselves. That's what makes them great. :)
+proximalpha It's True.Nirvana made very good music but most their live performances had major noticeable fuck ups with the guitar. Then again,Kurt's vocals were amazing and the MTV Unplugged performance was also epic.
Every time he touched a guitar it turned into a magical creation of talent. The group Nirvana was admired by the millions because of that and the trends that they set. They did not play by the rules of the musical industry that did their best to stifle their creativity. The album "Nevermind" knocked Michael Jackson off the '92 Billboard chart from #1 to #5. What better metaphor is there for what Cobain could have accomplished if he were here with us today?

I was at youth church the other day, wearing my Nirvana shirt, and this twelve year old came and said he likes my shirt and that he loves Nirvana. Now I can die in peace... :')
In my opinion this is the best song Kurt wrote. The messages he conveys are ambiguous and malleable and the dual melodies of guitar and voice make this one of my favourite songs.
"all in all is all we are, all in all is all we are, all in all is all we are, all in all is all we are, all in all is all we are, all in all is all we are"

The thing about Nirvana is they played music for all generations to love and admire. This band will continue to flourish throughout history. Kurt is now immortal...The best part about it, even if Kurt were alive today, he`d still just be a musician playing music and having a good time...
Before that performance Kurt talks about Courtney on how she thinks that everyone hates her..then Kurt ask the crowd if they can say 'i love you Courtney" Kurt have the biggest smile..and it feels like he really loves her so much..
Those of us lived through it... I mean it was INCREDIBLE till Kurt died, then the movement died with him. It was just horrible. Brings back mixed feelings. I mean we all bought are stuff at second hand stores and fought the system, and still do, but that day in April when he died was the blackest. Now you see Nirvana shirts in Nordstrom’s, which is really shitty and completely opposite of what was intended. Remember to make your own mark with your generation and not live through this. Use it as energy, but make it happen! We were called Gen X, loser generation, but we changed music forever, and music is the key to life!
you are correct. People forget that an artist is someone who can make something out of anything, or in other words, an artist is someone who can adapt. That is exactly what happens each generation
Wow. He played left handed. What a talent! It's like playing right handed, but for left handers. That takes serious talent! Go through a heroin addiction and you'll understand that Kurt OBVIOUSLY killed himself. Every typical suicide warning sign was there.. Every. Single. One.
The other versions of this song (on In Utero, and MTV Unplugged) were recorded a couple years after this concert. I think Kurt had wrote this song at about the time of this concert, and he could've changed the lyrics later on to relate to the audience more. He didn't mess up the lyrics.
M.C.O Group news "Performing Love" ... Thanks to that bit of grammar I now have the vision of Kurt changing the lyrics of Drain You to be about sex while singing WHILE he's making love with Courtney. Actually now that I think about it that seems difficult to visualize. I suppose the concept came to my head, not the actual vision. Not sure if I should be thankful for that or not. Confused.
This is a lie. The demo had already been recorded and the official recording would be made just a few months later. Kurt wasn't even alive "a couple years later"
We will see that All Apologies feels the same, because that song is a feeling that pours out from fellow human beings who always feel sad and happy. As an answer to a human who rarely shares his feelings, only in his songs can we find part of his life.
Если вы смотрели полный концерт, то он там перед концертом посвятил песню жене и своей дочери и попросил публику сказать "Кортни, мы любим тебя", очень трогательный момент. Светлая память Курту
"Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." - "Nothing Gold can Stay" by Robert Frost
If you watch the full versions of this concert, Kurt had just announced (just prior to this song) his 12 day old daughter and asked them to say 'we love you C'... that's why the tears etc.
Hey I'm Shane Davis , been a musician since I was almost 17 and I was 12 when Kurt died. Nirvana inspired me and I want to thank all parties involved with Nirvana for allowing us to see all of the great videos of them. Nirvana's music impacted me greatly and then he was gone . Then in 2002 we finally got to hear the last Nirvana song recorded and it really excited me to hear You know you're right for the first time but it also saddened me all over again ...
Gives me goosebumps and tears. used to listen to this with my girlfriend and when i was fukkd up... the greatest songs are the ones the make you feel happy and sad at the same time. (BEAUTIFUL)
Remember taping this off the radio live, aged 19, he dedicated this "to my wife and 12 day old daughter", although I cant find a version on RUclips where he actually says this, but trust me, he did x
I would think that this is an early version of the song as the album version came out a year later, like many other songs performed live before the studio releases.
Frank Sinatra always sung his iconic tunes different every time. But jazz is supposed to be freestyle. Live music should be different to the brushed up studio version
does anyone else understand what kurt was going through from 1:20? his guitar somehow got out of tune and he tried adding extra lyrics so he could tune his guitar.
You can tell he's not happy. He always wanted to be a rockstar, but then... the worst thing happened... he got what he wanted. And he hated it. The last two years of his performances, you can really track his enthusiasm almost show by show.
Patricio87 He was, but not until after it was done, yeah. He was dreading it up till that point, though, and the band almost broke up that night because Kurt kept telling Dave to play softer to the point that Dave was like "I can just not play at all, if that's what you want" -- luckily somebody had some acoustic drumsticks laying around. They likely saved the band for a little while longer. Believe me, dude, I have read two biographies on Kurt Cobain and one biography on the band, and Kurt was (overall) not happy with being a rockstar. That doesn't mean he can't be proud of some of the work he did, but the actual job of being a touring musician he did not care for. Nor did he like being famous. Nor did he like the negative effects of being a drug addict, or the pressure he was under both from Geffen and the music industry (you know, his employer) AS WELL as his family (especially his wife) to stop using drugs -- he was just finding himself in a darker and darker place as time went by. Until finally he just killed himself. And yes, he did commit suicide, anybody who believes Courtney is smart enough to have him murdered and get away with it all this time is retarded.
voteZDLR Courtney and Kurt were in a middle of a divorce. Courtney wasn't so happy about that because she was a person that wanted the money and fame unlike Kurt. If Kurt divorced her she would have half of his money(19 million dollars) and if he died she would have all his money even the bands money which is worth of 38 million dollars. Kurt wanted to leave Courtney, take Frances with him, restart his life without drugs,be a great father to Frances. The former lawyer of Kurt and Courtney found a practice sheet with Courtney's handwriting to copy Kurt's handwriting in Courtney's backpack that she forgot at her place. Days later Kurt was found dead. She practiced his handwriting to write his "suicide note." Also in the suicide note was mentioned something about his stomach problems. In an interview in 1993 he said that those problems were gone for over a year. The reason why Courtney had let Kurt been killed at the age of 27 was because Kurt told his sister that he also wanted to be a part of the 27 club. He said those stuff way before he met Courtney and had Frances. Even Courtney's father thinks that Courtney sended somebody to kill Kurt. Someone asked Courtney what she would to if Kurt was back alive and she said:"I would kill him again." AGAIN.AGAIN.A-G-A-I-N. But that wouldn't be a problem because he would've left her with his precious daughter and raise her like a real man with no drugs involved. He would do anything to make Frances happy, everybody said that Kurt was a better father than Courtney was a mother. So why would he leave his bandmates, his daughter, parents and other loved-ones? He knew that their would be fans who would also commit suicide. He wasn't dumb.
peace fighter They were, indeed, in the middle of a divorce. And you are right, she probably did want ALL of the money. And I don't know where you are getting the figures of 38 million, net worth, maybe you are saying that was Cobain's net worth at the time of death? It FAR exceeds that nowadays, though. Kurt probably did want to leave Courtney and take the little girl with him, but one thing you are wrong about is that Kurt was actually *NOT* sober at the time of death. That stomach pain you are talking about, the only thing that relieved that was Heroin -- an opiate painkiller, illegal yes, but it is a painkiller. Courtney, and everyone else, was trying to force him to get off drugs "or else" she was the one threatening to divorce him. He may have been trying to pull strings behind her back to serve her with divorce papers first, but the bottom line is that she would have won the divorce settlement AND received full custody of Frances, with probably incredible child support payments and little to no visitation rights, and there's not a damn thing he could do about it. His addiction was too strong, he did not want to quit, so in the day(s) before his death, he ran away from rehab, acquired drugs and hid out in his greenhouse while he pondered what he was going to do. I want sources for the whole "practicing handwriting for the suicide note" and I also want the source where Courtney said "she would kill Kurt again". Frankly, I think the second of those two especially is probably not true, or is hearsay. If it's in an interview, I would like to see it. And the bottom line is, I honestly think his addiction and situation with his family and said loved ones, compounded by the seriousness of his addiction, he felt too much pressure from everyone else to do something he probably didn't want to do, and honestly felt stuck to the point that suicide, for him, WAS the best way out. Yes, he was 27, and it was no secret he had a thing with the "27 Club" -- even his Mom knew what it was, most likely because of him. He may have also realized that his sudden death would catapult his family's fame and fortune into the John Lennon stratosphere, so at least his daughter was well taken care of, financially. Bottom line is I believe he killed himself, but if you can show me sources for those two things I mentioned above -- as well as any other proof (with sources) -- I may reconsider my position. But getting off of Heroin leaves you in the perfect head-space for suicide, period. Believe me, I know. And the fact he was doing as much as he did would just make it that much harder on him.
Hmm.. maybe but I'm not really buying that. He looks totally spaced out and was prone to mixing up lyrics (e.g. Pennyroyal Tea from Unplugged). :)@@semaforosargentina
Precious man, soothing voice... Probably line "married, buried" is going to person we know who is. Yes, it looks like i am simping for this man, I went through whole puberty listening Nirvana, Cobain simply put some mark in my life...
I'm young ( not saying) and I'm a nirvana mega fan I see a lot of people saying that u can't be a fan if u are young and just know if u say that u are probably not a true fan.
I think that he is speaking from the perspective of a depressed person and not being able to understand how other people are able to be happy. Just like the other line in the song, '"I wish they I could be like you, easily amused".
I understand, it's a perfectly good explanation, I just find the word too "old fashion", see? I'm talking about form, not content. "All the words are gray", to me, works better, it's a more coherent verse.

@@LoekTheKing Nah you use your foot for timing. not your jaw... Ive heard multiple interviews about people selling him speed and shit so quit acting like you know what your talking about.
Love how he holds his vocals slightly longer here than he does on the In Utero EP.

Kurt doesn't have over complicated guitar skills but he puts enough efforts to make good music
The thing about Nirvana is they played music for all generations to love and admire. This band will continue to flourish throughout history. Kurt is now immortal...The best part about it, even if Kurt were alive today, he`d still just be a musician playing music and having a good time...
you can see that speed jaw goin 1:23-1:31 no matter how fu****** up he gets or played his music will and has always been epic.
Before that performance Kurt talks about Courtney on how she thinks that everyone hates her..then Kurt ask the crowd if they can say 'i love you Courtney" Kurt have the biggest smile..and it feels like he really loves her so much..
Damn.... every time I decide to venture into looking, or listening to this brother, my heart breaks. Awesome guy (in so much pain)... Rest, brother.
1:50 let’s all cry together
Pure genius legendary voice
man I wish I was alive during the grunge movement ..... what a bummer kurt cobain and layne staley are gone best voices ever
Ikr
+Kaelin Hampton yup it's so sad
+Elijah Soto Did you forget about Mark Arm and Andrew Wood?
CaribDude815 no certainly not I just got a deeper feeling for Kurt and layne
Those of us lived through it... I mean it was INCREDIBLE till Kurt died, then the movement died with him. It was just horrible. Brings back mixed feelings. I mean we all bought are stuff at second hand stores and fought the system, and still do, but that day in April when he died was the blackest. Now you see Nirvana shirts in Nordstrom’s, which is really shitty and completely opposite of what was intended. Remember to make your own mark with your generation and not live through this. Use it as energy, but make it happen! We were called Gen X, loser generation, but we changed music forever, and music is the key to life!
lmao where he fucks up at 1:25 and closes his eyes then gets feedback... love it.
you are correct. People forget that an artist is someone who can make something out of anything, or in other words, an artist is someone who can adapt. That is exactly what happens each generation
This is definitely one of Kurts more peaceful songs and I love it 😍
If you put the speed to 2x it magically becomes a pop-punk song.
***** AY LMAO
+The Unknown Performer one of the best reasons to not alter the speed.
Jadyn Devon lmao u mad bro? Btw Pearl Jam > Soundgarden > Nirvana
Well grudge is inspired by punk and metal. That's basically how Nirvana got their sound. So that actually makes sense.
+The Unknown Performer put nirvana in front of pearl jam and that'll be accurate
what an amazing voice, gotta be one of the best voices i ever heard!
Quite brilliant how hee could completely colour outside the lines of what would be expected at any performance yet still sound ever so magnificent.
Throughout the performance he was having a rough time, but he pushed through. A true performer
Noticed that too, like he was having a bad day or something troubling him
he sounds sick, like the cold or something@@troyswarts7353
So sad , what a Performance .. and he played LEFT HANDED .💕. So sure he did not take his own life
Wow. He played left handed. What a talent! It's like playing right handed, but for left handers. That takes serious talent!
Go through a heroin addiction and you'll understand that Kurt OBVIOUSLY killed himself. Every typical suicide warning sign was there.. Every. Single. One.
Dave Carsley There’s literally evidence that says he didn’t committed suicide.
Bringing 'this' great performance to the fore, again. One great little band. Nirvana in their HeyDay. 'All Apologies'(Live at Reading 1992)
It's so cool the hear this song before it was released
just before, he asked the whole crowd to shout "courtney we love you!" and he had the biggest smile on his face :)
You could tell he was a true punk, truly didn't give a shit what anyone thought of him. That's an admirable quality.
Kurt's voice is just powerful beauty
The other versions of this song (on In Utero, and MTV Unplugged) were recorded a couple years after this concert. I think Kurt had wrote this song at about the time of this concert, and he could've changed the lyrics later on to relate to the audience more. He didn't mess up the lyrics.
Also some artist change their lyrocs while their performing love on the spot, just for the heck of it ,
M.C.O Group news "Performing Love" ...
@@Skullkan6 Lmfao why drain you
He looked so good that night. He truly shocked me.
We will see that All Apologies feels the same, because that song is a feeling that pours out from fellow human beings who always feel sad and happy. As an answer to a human who rarely shares his feelings, only in his songs can we find part of his life.
I just love this!! Could listen to it all day! Imagine if he was still with us making more music, that would be a dream come true!
When I hear this band kurt lives in my head, it's like if it was a drug I want more and I can not stop consuming it.
Menurutku ini adalah konser nirvana terbaik ♥️
Если вы смотрели полный концерт, то он там перед концертом посвятил песню жене и своей дочери и попросил публику сказать "Кортни, мы любим тебя", очень трогательный момент. Светлая память Курту
Жалко её не добавили в это плейлист
He truly was the definition of imperfect beauty.
"Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."
- "Nothing Gold can Stay" by Robert Frost
2024 still play this songs best band of all time
What a legend. tragedy we lost him your in our hearts for ever Kurt
fucking love everything about this performance
How does Kurt make everything look so good, every outfit!
Minha música favorita da banda Nirvana, apenas me deixe ir. Todos os integrantes da banda são lendas💛🧡

I love nirvana even for a heavy grunge band, they never felt the need to swear every other lyric to prove how badass they were.
That plus not caring to swear sometimes if it was better for the lyrics made it even better
Gives me goosebumps and tears. used to listen to this with my girlfriend and when i was fukkd up... the greatest songs are the ones the make you feel happy and sad at the same time. (BEAUTIFUL)
i've never been to a nirvana concert
but i'm glad this existed
this song was still new and relatively unfinished at the time. this album wasn't out yet in 92
i like the rasp in his vocals ...adds to the effect of the song ....:)

The first time I heard this melody, I was transported somewhere else man…
Remember taping this off the radio live, aged 19, he dedicated this "to my wife and 12 day old daughter", although I cant find a version on RUclips where he actually says this, but trust me, he did x

He didn't mess up the lyrics. He change them for artistic reasons.
I would think that this is an early version of the song as the album version came out a year later, like many other songs performed live before the studio releases.
Kurt changes the lyrics to his songs all the time
And who cares if he change the lyrics its still his composition
Frank Sinatra always sung his iconic tunes different every time. But jazz is supposed to be freestyle. Live music should be different to the brushed up studio version
Nah, he just didn’t actually know what the ‘final’ lyrics were yet because it was a new song
espesando mi lunes con este tema que genialidad
Una verdadera genialidad
does anyone else understand what kurt was going through from 1:20? his guitar somehow got out of tune and he tried adding extra lyrics so he could tune his guitar.
Gabriel Ezeta yeah, you are spot on. he also said after the show he’s guitar got so out of tune, he broke/clipped every string after the show.
In my opinion, one of the best guitar riffs
Am I the only one hearing “In my son I feel as one” in this particular performance?
Genuine question and much respect for Kurt.
You can tell he's not happy. He always wanted to be a rockstar, but then... the worst thing happened... he got what he wanted. And he hated it. The last two years of his performances, you can really track his enthusiasm almost show by show.
not true. He was really proud of their MTV unplugged performance.

"All my words are grey" a nice alternative to the In Utero version if you want sing this around your homophobic family members
I sing it the way it I like it. Nirvana is all like, "come as you are," not, "say what everyone else wants to hear." That's why they're real.

The look on his face when he realises he's singing the first verse for the second time. :)
It was intentional, lyrics weren't finished yet
Hmm.. maybe but I'm not really buying that. He looks totally spaced out and was prone to mixing up lyrics (e.g. Pennyroyal Tea from Unplugged). :)@@semaforosargentina

I Love Kurt Cobain and nirvana, Nirvana is my favorite musical group
"All my words are gray" make a hell of a lot more sense than "Everyone is gay"! I never got that verse.
The term "Gay" was originally used to mean happy.
Yeah, I thought about that. But is it what Kurt meant? The lyrics have no archaisms, why include this one? It's a strange verse...
He says that here, not on the record
Kurt was very talented! Very handsome, every time my father puts on some Nirvana songs, I hear Kurt's vocals, it was simply perfect! I miss Kurt. But now he is in a better place. Kurt I love you so much you saved me I love you I love you I love you I love you ❤️
Genial!!! Throughout the song the camera only is focused on Kurt, you can feel the powerful vocal of this legend as if we were there!!
