I don't know how you do these things. I intensely hate being in physical discomfort so this is just something. The level of discipline that you have to keep going is insane. I'm always in awe whenever I watch your videos.
I beg you.... don't do this. He took a big risk wearing those for as long as he did. Your foot is mostly tendons and ligaments. These tissues are slow to change and easy to rupture. Forcing ligaments that have been in one position for years into a totally new position by force for extended periods can cause them to rip apart, which can lead to permanent damage. Spacers can be useful in "SLOWLY" correcting bone alignment in the feet. Emphasis on SLOWLY. Like over months.... not days. And Definetly DO NOT wear these in shoes. Not only will it put severe pressure and the toes, but it can cause imbalances in your joint alignments that can result in other joint injuries. I use Correct Toe spacers. They changed my life. When I started using them, I just had bunion & hammer toe surgery on my left foot. I had a pin removed in my second toe and started physical therapy immediately. Once the swelling went done started gaining mobility from exercise and break up to scar tissue, worked on strengthening the muscles in my toes and ankles and I slowing started wearing Correct Toes with zero drop sneakers. The instructions say to wear it a few minutes and to a few hours until your feet get used it. I definitely wouldn’t recommend wearing it over long period of time without slowing using and working on strengthening the muscles in the toes, ankles, legs, hips and even lower back. It’s been it’s been almost 6 years since I’ve used it and my overpronation has improved, I no long suffer from pain from plantar fasciitis, I no longer need surgery in my right foot for bunion and hammertoes because my toes are straighter and no longer hurt. Correct Toes was created by a podiatrist and it’s designed to wear while walking, not sleeping. It works to help strengthen the intrinsic muscles in the toes to help realign the toes to the way it was designed to be.
They went back because toe spacers are for stretching the toe not strengthening them. There are specific exercise for your feet. You also need to wear them for at least an 30 mins to an hour a day for 6+ months to notice some permanent changes. It's like any other muscle in your body.
Felt the same exact symptoms when I started, especially in my right big toe. Took at least 2.5 months for my feet to get used to them. What really helped me was toe socks instead of the traditional socks. IMO I felt like I was pushing in w/ the socks going against what I wanted the spacers to do. Adding toe socks really helped with the comfort and helped with toe separation as well
I think it's a slow, gradual process, much like the damage to the toes was a slow gradual process. I wear them all day at work with appropriate footwear and I see small improvements that seem to be permanent (at least I'm hoping!).
As a Remedial Exercise Therapist I never suggest people wear spacers for longer than 20 minutes at a time. If you forget to take them out and don't feel any discomfort it's perfectly fine to leave them in (I assume relaxing and lose thought of your feet in this case). However, as you mentioned, you will adjust your gait to better suit your new condition. This means you will adjust to avoid the new discomfort and/or pain associated... so it's likely you will lean into the more comfortable foot (leg) and have a limp like gait or roll in (ankle eversion). The small toe requires the least amount of spacing. The big toe requires the most amount of spacing. Walking gait (just to be clear, running gait is different) should always be heel first, roll mainly on the outside edge of your foot then through the balls of the feet and last to touch and leave the floor each step is the big toe. Interesting video. Always get a kick out of your experiments even if I can tend to predict your outcomes :p. Keep up the great content Lucas :]
walking gait should be from the ball of the foot starting at outermost part. Heel striking is just shocking the ankles and knees etc. Try running barefoot on hard surfaces. You will notice how much worse heel striking is. How the hell as a therapist can you recommend people heel strike? Is having those shock absorbers in shoes (heel area especially) naturally good to you?
@@undefinednull5749 Walking gait and running gait are different. The shock is absorbed through the rolling from heel to toe via the tibialis anterior followed by the calves. In running a front foot or mid foot strike is best due to the forward lean of the exercise. You can put greater loads into the soleus muscle for running than you can the tibialis. When walking properly - heel, outside edge, toe - it follows the natural curve of your foot which keeps your arches off the ground and reduces collapsing of ankles (eversion). Walking toe first isn't necessarily a bad way to walk, but it will increase calves tension because of the lack of tibialis engagement, so without training the tibialis you'd have an increased risk of shin splints, calf or foot cramps, and/or knee issues by walking toe first. Heel first also engages the glutes more which assists in balance, crucially important for elderly.
@@undefinednull5749 As for shoe wear. I always suggest people transition to a minimalist shoe asap. Bare foot shoes (or any shoe with 0 support) is the healthiest fit for your feet. Wide toe angle, no arch or heel cushion, and just enough of a protective layer underneath to prevent glass or sharp rocks etc from damaging the skin.

Your shoes are simply too small you need bigger ones so your feet aren't restricted it's also good habit to walk with your feet pointing outward rather than straight obviously not too much but attempt to push the comfort level of it as long as it's still comfortable to walk that will help keep your arches raised as well as help naturally increase foot flexibility and makes the toes want to spread
I cannot wear my toe spacers with normal sock and in barefoot shoes....as you experienced, it’s just too painful for my little toe....that slight pressure inwards from the sock or side of the shoe is enough to cause pain. So I wear mine around the house & to bed all night. Every other time, I wear Five Finger shoes or at lease barefoot shoes with “toe socks”....normal socks will squish your toes again even in barefoot shoes. I figured, like teeth braces, it’s gonna take months to change your cartilage & bone structure alignment. After all, you have to undo YEARS of damage.
By logic you should have wore toe fingers socks too because with normal socks there is a small contraction against your toes. And yeah wearing them during long hours it's just insane but I appreciate your experiment
I haven't used toe spacers yet but I wore my Vivobarefoot Forest ESC boots all Spring, summer and fall months. My foot got a lot wider and my toes spread out more. Wore injinji toe socks during the entire time too. I had to go up a half size and widest skate for ice hockey by late fall as my small toe would rub against my old skates.
its just crazy to me this an actual product now! in middle school I always felt so annoyed by my toes touching lol, i'd sometimes cut toilet paper rolls and put them in-between my toes 😂 now I don't think about it but woulda been great then
Great video!!!! If you think it takes about 1 year of consistently wearing Invisalign for it to work…it should take even longer for toe separators to work. 🤔
I've been wanting to try these because I have a callous in between my pinky toe and 2nd toe (I think they call it an interdigital callous)... I have tried cutting it out and all kinds of manners of ways to prevent it, but apparently surgery is the main fix because the bone on the pinky toe supposedly causes it (I think they say because it's been squished in shoes too tight mixed with genetics 🧬 and Blah blah)... It's highly painful and I think that these may help in combination with a wider shoe. Wish me luck- this was fun to watch to kind of get a feel for what I'm headed into
thats super painful. you can get rid of it with spacers + rubbing dead skin each day by taking a goot batch of hot watet+ epsom or just go see a podiatrist its not a painful intervention.
the problem is just that hallux valgus is not in any way related to the shoes we wear. its really just genetic. if you try this too late then your foot is already developed in a way those spacers wont really do a change to your foot, or angle geometry in general. its like braces. you want to put them on when the jawbone can still adapt and the position of teeth/the way they grow can still be corrected.
I just skipped through the video to the end where you don't recommend them. I got these at first too but they're the shitty kind, the ones that have worked great for me are more of a jelly material and they wrap around all the toes, not just the middle ones. I wear them for about 1-2 hours in the morning while exercising and going about the day. After a few weeks I noticed permanent changes to my toe spread and my feet feel more stable walking barefoot.
First of your videos I watched. I could immediately tell you either live in the Midwest or are from there cause the accent come out more each time you say “toes”
@@garrysmith1029 See I have this weird American God complex where I just assume anything & everything is American until I know otherwise, but I could totally see that now lol
From the looks of it, the toes looked more spaced due to inflammation around the base of the toes. After 48 hours, that inflammation had faded so they looked normal.
I feel exactly the same without the spacers. A lot of shoes are squishing waaay too hard on your fingers, especially pinky. every time i get new sports shoes my pinky suffers.
Easier and cheaper way of doing this is to use your fingers to space them out and stretch out.. hold your foot and clasp it like you are clasping a hand. That is going to spread your toes out to their natural setting they way they are supposed to be in proportion to your body. Toe spacers are better than none but the Best solution is using your own body as the yardstick. So use your own fingers for regular spacing and wear proper footwear. It Will fix a bunch of issues faster. (It Will Hurt some, when you do it, the very bottom of your fingers is so thick that when you shove them between your toes Will Hurt because you havent been doing it and the footwear is subobtimal) Go barefoot in your house or just wear socks too.. this allows your foot to return to its proper shape also.
Yea, I think the thing is, when you're walking/running/working out, you need your toes to be able to move freely throughout your active movements. Wearing them during rest for like an hour a day over 168 days is a lot different than wearing them for 168 consecutive hours.
Severe bunions will take about 6months for a more definitive reversal. Your case might take 2/3 months (but you can use them even just 12 hours a day) Then of course keep using only minimalist ancestral shoes
Another thing about the gait issue is that the toe spacers likely limited your ability to elevate and push with your toes - effectively cutting off mobility. The collapsing inward is just your body compensating for the lack of balance awareness that comes with the movement of your toes

Oh my god wow 🤣 I’ve been wearing toe spacers since October 2022 last year. I actually just wore them again last night too. Crazy.
No link in the description box below for the toe spacers at all.
I cut into the little toe part of my spacers, because I found that it pushed my pinky too much! They sit perfect now
I laughed way to much throughout this video😂
That thumbnail is perfect 😂
Wait a min... You kept these on in the shower? How did u wash your feet and in between your toes??? 😢
he did in a week what should be spread over multiple weeks. the pain and adjustment is real until you get used to the spacing lol. he’s got great looking feet so i guess it’s worth it. no pain no gain 😆
Thank you for this video, you're a real trooper 😭💞🙈
I used to ask myself why you gave up on Flipping...🤔but now kinda think of it we Kinda did it all Lucas 😂 I low key started watching your videos during Covid Lockdown through you I could throw a Front or Back tuck when ever I wanted Thank you Lucas🎉🎉 whatever video you got planned You got my Support dude because I have grown with you step by step and it is just an adventure bro 🎉😂 again thanks YOU GOTTA FOCUS!🤓
Hey young man, may I ask what's with the red light?
Which toe spacers did you use?
Bless your heart❤ there's was nothing wrong with your toes to start with😢 I bought them things from Amazon myself I have bunions my bunions we're bigger after wearing them for 2 hours I noticed it the next day 😢I'm not wearing them ever again😢 interesting video thanks for sharing❤😊❤
Getting creative😂
You can cut the outer bit off to not overstretch the little toe. (Lots of people do this; it says so in the instructions.)
I had to go up a half size and widest skate for ice hockey by late fall as my small toe would rub against my old skates.
its just crazy to me this an actual product now! in middle school I always felt so annoyed by my toes touching lol, i'd sometimes cut toilet paper rolls and put them in-between my toes 😂 now I don't think about it but woulda been great then
These have been around for a very long time!
Really need this !!!!!
Great video!!!! If you think it takes about 1 year of consistently wearing Invisalign for it to work…it should take even longer for toe separators to work. 🤔
Hence why barefoot and toeshoes/footgloves are great
What’re you doing at 11:45?
Squat University, good Chanel
did you have to drive first to go for a run?
I think you would be super happy with Vibram finger shoes. The toes spacers I have are all one piece. They can’t slip off.
@@OphiuchiChannel epsom... That's a good idea... Haven't tried that yet... Thanks!
have u ever tried thick toe socks?
it is more comfortable than wearing toe spacers.
20 rep squat and GOMAD x 6 weeks epic experiment!!!
This!! Plus smolov jr. for bench. 😮
Use eggs instead of milk, more anabolic and less estrogenic
@@ryanwellington7493 eggs are hella expensive nowadays.
@@ryanwellington7493 gallon of eggs a day, seems like too much to me
@@cobbcoding you wouldn't need a gallon lol they're more protein dense than milk
I workout barefoot at home. It really helps to strengthen your feet.
the problem is just that hallux valgus is not in any way related to the shoes we wear.
its really just genetic. if you try this too late then your foot is already developed in a
way those spacers wont really do a change to your foot, or angle geometry in general.
its like braces. you want to put them on when the jawbone can still adapt and the position
of teeth/the way they grow can still be corrected.
I could tell as well. At first I thought he was Canadian tbh.
@@garrysmith1029 See I have this weird American God complex where I just assume anything & everything is American until I know otherwise, but I could totally see that now lol
Where did u bought ur vegan protein powder
Hello, Lucas, we are already waiting!
Old basketball stories said you could get bigger hands by keeping tennis balls between your fingers.
Bro if that was bloomer park you should do a staircase challenge like a thousand stairs a dy
From the looks of it, the toes looked more spaced due to inflammation around the base of the toes. After 48 hours, that inflammation had faded so they looked normal.
But that's how feet _should_ look like. Of course minus the inflammation.
They worked. Your feet look perfect!
I feel exactly the same without the spacers. A lot of shoes are squishing waaay too hard on your fingers, especially pinky. every time i get new sports shoes my pinky suffers.
Thats because it seems youre wearing shoes on your hands 😐
You can cut the end of toe spacer so that the space between pinky toe and second last toe is halved. See the instructions.
(It Will Hurt some, when you do it, the very bottom of your fingers is so thick that when you shove them between your toes Will Hurt because you havent been doing it and the footwear is subobtimal)
Go barefoot in your house or just wear socks too.. this allows your foot to return to its proper shape also.
Your case might take 2/3 months (but you can use them even just 12 hours a day)
Then of course keep using only minimalist ancestral shoes
God, thanks for making this! I had thought about doing that myself...
The feet fetish people must be going crazy on this video.
I think Dude have 0 content left
Lol ye
how?
Fortunately for him there is no shortage of fitness gimmicks out to test.
wtf? everything he does is genius and very important.
😭I’ve got more coming I swear! Lol
You need the light blue stretchy spacers. Those spacers aren't that good. Plus the light blue 1s produce bigger space.
