The first time I heard this song was when I was driving home from work, it was on bbc radio one, I had to pull over the car, it literally stopped me in my tracks. They sounded like a local band which they are. One of the best songs I’ve ever heard
Tears from a man are a sign of strength not weakness, it means you don't have two swinging bricks in your heart. Peace and Luv from Scotland to you both.
an Irish audience is what makes a perfect song into something truly special. I lived in Ireland at the time, and my now-wife and I drove home to Galway from my in-laws' in Loughrea when the live radio broadcast was on. Even listening to this live on the radio was a very, very special experience. Irish crowds - doesn't get better than this! :)
@@daredeviljumper1 there irish from Belfast they went to college in Scotland i thinks thats where the band formed but u are right Scottish bands are loved in ireland Travis , Biffy Clyro, Gerry Cinnamon great great singer .
Gary Lightbody may not have the strongest voice in the world but man; can he write a song. Snow Patrol have the misfortune of living in the shadow of Coldplay but in my eyes are the superior band. Great choice. While you're at it, you should check out Keane, too, especially "The Sovereign Light Cafe"; a great song that so many people can relate to as it refers to growing up as a teenager in a provincial town.
I think snow patrol are better, Coldplay now sound like a paint by numbers save generic pop music nowadays, they used to be good, snow patrol aren't as big as they were but they seem to care a lot more about their music and songs, check out the beginning by snow patrol , not a big radio hit but better then anything Coldplay have done for a while
This is actually one of .y top favorite performances of snow patrol and the love within the band and crowd ia beyond epic & beautiful. And to be that band with that audience and vibes, they truly are beyond blessed, i cried the first time i felt this performance. Snow patrol has my heart forever.
Somethings after a shit day I put on my earphones turn them up, close my eyes and imagine being back there listening to this. Probably the best weekend of my life.
Haha, I thought the same thing. During the first verse, I thought: "Oh, nice singing crowd.", and then, in the chorus, the audience just exploded into my ears. Unbelievable!
A young man that lived with my family who was like another son to me, two days older then my second child, was struck and killed walking home, this song makes me think of him as does chasing cars 😭💔❤️
Nothing ashamed with getting emotional man and thanks for being the best geezers ever for doing that for a fan. Please don't change. Tears only ever make more of a man Best reaction Chanel ever!!
Love this song in general, but this live performance is just fucking perfect! 😁 If anyone else likes this, look up Snow Patrol standing in for Oasis... christ that's good!
Songs can be like certain smells, the person you're remembering is right there with you. I remember listening to 'Blackout' by Muse live at Wembley not long after my Mum died. My eyes leaked a fair bit during the second half of that song as I thought of her so strongly because of the music. 'Run' is a favourite of mine too and I can only imagine the feeling it evokes when it's so attached to someone you used to know.
Now just a small country being used as a giant tax haven for wealthy companies to avoid paying tax in the countries where they sell goods. Shame on Ireland.
@@mallaka8 it’s no shame. If that’s our countries greatest crime it stacks up ok against many others. They bring many thousands of jobs. Maybe you want us to go back to living in poverty and forced emigration. I’ll skip thanks.
Slogging through a racecourse outside Naas in the pissing irish rain, getting locked on 5 euro pints of flat Heineken, worrying some clown is gonna fall or piss on your tent, but the music was so good. The festival failed in the end because of greed, unfortunately. But for 6 years oxegen was the highlight of my year, looking back now brings a tear to my eye.
So frigging good. I don't normally like this type of music but that is something else. It's a good song but hearing that many people sing is kinda beautiful. Like the opposite of war.
I know sometimes covers of originals aren't everyone's cup of tea but check out Lucy Thomas version of this song she was only 15 at the time and i think she nails it.
this song reminds me of when I sat beside my husbands bedside in intensive care and I talked to him and willed him to get better I don't know if he heard my voice, I hope so. Sadly I lost him.
Pretty sure I'm in the minority here, but I would be really pi$$ed if I had paid for a ticket just to hear this song, and, instead, I got to hear the audience sing it. And is the guy singing it the same guy that sang it on the recording?? His voice doesn't sound the same.
Snow patrol are a good band no doubt , but I never could get into it. Just like Coldplay, they deserve all their fame and success etc, but It’s just missing the swagger attitude etc for me. In 2006-7 they were massive in the uk, now their tunes are signature songs for cooking programmes , shite imo. Where are they now ? snow play or cold patrol ? Still better than most of the current stuff out there though.

Amen to to that gaz👌🏼
Heard them play in a comedy club in Cork City right before they got very big .

I was in the pit for this and it was unreal! Brilliant band live!! 🇮🇪

Gary lightbody has forgotten better lyrics than Chris Martin has wrote.

"That was the most perfect song.."
Wait until you hear Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. 😭
I have a personal attachment to that one.
both amazing... for me run will always be special tho
I took my earplugs out for this when it happened live... It was fucking magical! I still get goosebumps thinking about it 11 years later
Somethings after a shit day I put on my earphones turn them up, close my eyes and imagine being back there listening to this. Probably the best weekend of my life.
Can't beat an Irish audience for the singing especially for a few local lads
This is The Audience feat SNOW PATROL

Bangors finest.
Amazing
Leona Lewis also had a duet with Putri Ariani with the song Run
Spear of Destiny the most underrated British band ever!!!
If you're in a band. at some point you need to play Ireland.

You need to be in the moment .. yes Gary sings on the single and wrote it …
Studio version is better IMHO.
