  • In this series we're going to share how we live off of the food that we grow in our community garden plots, or forage and hunt in the woods. Here's a little window into the third and fourth week of this year's living off the land challenge!

    Cutting the music could be a huge hassle. Keep in mind that they're not cooking exclusively for videos, they're recording cooking their dinners. So they can't plan around when they know they'll have quiet, with no barking or neighborhood noise. Also, they probably want to show off their friend's music, with good reason.

    I enjoy your friend Ethan’s relaxing music and the calm ambiance it creates with your videos.

    This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think your videos would be great without any music! I find it so soothing listening to the quiet chopping and sizzling sounds! Love your videos either way tho!

      Or just turn down the volume a bit so the background sounds come through.

      I do actually agree with this. Maybe not totally get rid of the music, just tone down the music a little and let the normal sounds be the forefront

      100% on board with this, I'd love to hear the sounds of the cooking process more clearly than the music for the ASMR

    I really appreciate the transparency of this movie… being someone who things living of the land would be great, simple and easy, Tis good to have a reality check of how hard you have to work just to get a couple of oz of oil :D

      Watching the mesmerizing turn after turn after turn on the hand crank for corn and walnut meats made my arm ache in sympathy -- I use a hand-cranked food mill every year when I process apples, pears and tomatoes for sauce, and while a horizontal crank is a little different from a vertical one (in terms of muscle movements), you still get that ache! LOL It certainly gives one time to reflect...

    Also, was that both hot salsa verde and chimicurri you added to the stew? hell yeah
    + On top of crunching releasing endorphins, a lot of big brand snack companies discovered that creating airy, light, bland snacks would cause people to eat more. Because the brain doesn't realize it's consuming calories when the food, ex potato chips, feel so light- that's why it's so easy to eat the whole bag without realizing. So homemade, whole grain tortilla chips are definitely more substantial

    • @HomegrownHandgathered
      @HomegrownHandgathered  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it was and that’s interesting about the airy chips. Yea these homemade tortilla chips are definitely a lot more substantial than the store-bought ones. You actually feel full after eating some 🙂

Even though your life style is a fantasy I cannot forfill, you and alike are the ones that give inspiration that all is not lost. Wonderful harvest. Thank you for sharing.

    In CA they loved the olive trees so much that they planted them in the streets. Today the olves are considered a problem. So much wasted oil.
