show titled: Union of Nations
dir. Łukasz Witt - Michałowski
Length: 12 minutes
The Union of Nations is an allegorical story about the formation of relations between Poland and Lithuania, which led to the creation of one of the most durable political Unions and the flourishing of this part of Europe. This is a story about a difficult relationship of equal and often conflicted over the centuries of countries, which in a time when Europe bleeds from constant wars could see that a lonely fight and temporary alliances are nowhere. Wisdom, which allowed us to understand that real security and development can be obtained by combining its forces, resulted in the Union of Nations, which survived 409 years, and its crowning became one of the most powerful countries of the then Europe - the Polish -Lithuanian Commonwealth of both nations, which introduced Poland and Lithuania into the golden age of development . The causative strength of these changes were not kings and governments, but citizens. We based the narrative of our show on the Oxford history of the Polish-Lithuanian Union by Oxford Professor Robert Frost, telling about the formation of a state based on consensus, multinational and pluralistic in religious terms, built from above and bottom-up on the path of peaceful negotiations, not war and conquest.
