      Yes, I know I need to improve. I am preparing a nice video about silicone rendering where there is going to be a lot of explaining and talking.
      I know it sounds silly because I am talking to my own camera so there is no pressure, but sometimes I forget how to speak English 😅
      I am getting better though.

    You didn’t install a vapour control later before the insulation. This will cause interstitial condensation between the insulation and timber which is I’ll inevitably deteriorate the insulation and rot the timber. From the video you’ve adhered the insulation straight to the timber substrate.

    Very neat job but 1 question. Where you put the guttering on the roof, there's no insulation. Will this cause problems down the line? Like a cold spots?

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад

      Hi
      We have the 150mm Celotex wrapping the gutter from the bottom (in the ceiling) and overlapping it by 200mm, so there are no cold spots.
      Well spotted!

      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад

      Hi Jacob
      I am sorry, I missed your comment. I always try to reply to all comments.
      The glass is glued- two layers. One is silicones on top of the opening and the second letter is smaller and it sits inside on the frame so there is no chance for it to slip, fall etc.

    Lovely job. Although im pretty sure that the membrane under the PIR should be a vapour control membrane and is mandatory for warm roof design regs not a luxury?
    Also what do those spiky joist washers do?

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад +3

      Hello mate
      Thanks for dropping by.
      This was done in times when it was very hard finding supplies. Could not find the VCB anywhere so the building control agreed on using a roof membrane. It's there to protect the plywood from condensation.
      The spiky washers (timber connectors) are to stop the joist from moving independently. If they move, they move together so they work like one massive beam.

      The box is insulated from the bottom with 150 mm celotex and we overlapped it by 200mm.
      Building control wouldn't pass the job if it wasn't done. Well spotted!

    Hi mate I can see that your not using thermabate type cavity closures around your openings are you using an insulated vertical dpc as a thermal break

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад

      Sometimes we do
      In this case we have the 150mm cavity wool coming all the way up and we lay down dpc on top to prevent any moisture penetrating through.

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад

      If you check my other video
      5 leaking roofs(thumbnail) you will see that in there we used cavity closure. It's not a regulation to use the closures on top of the wall. You must use them around doors and windows

    • @ETB9090
      @ETB9090 2 месяца назад

      @@yesconstructionltd Hi mate, yes I no that, I just couldn't see cavity closures or insulated dpc in those reveals, still can't to be honest, it just looks like you've returned the blockwork

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  2 месяца назад

      @@ETB9090
      I thought you were talking about the top of the wall on the roof.
      This is an unusual case. The bifold door is 3.6m, each section is 1.2 m triple glazed so very heavy. The door company suggested returning the brickwork in the reveal for strength.
      We then took this thought to building control and he blessed the idea providing that the client agrees. Later we glued insulated plasterboard in the reveal to provide some form of insulation.
      Sometimes we have to tweak the rules to achieve a greater goal and as long as the BC blesses everything, it's all good 😊

    • @ETB9090
      @ETB9090 2 месяца назад +1

      @@yesconstructionltd well if BC have signed it off mate I suppose that's all u need, I notice you've done the same to the window, I get the reason behind it returning the blockwork, but in that situation I would of used Damcor or similar insulated dpc and still returned the blockwork as it's only about 20mm thick, you've had a very flexible BC officer out mate as I there's a lot that probably wouldn't pass that on new construction, on existing to mitigate cold bridging I've used 10mm aerogel in the reveals then bonded plasterboard to it, in all honesty I prefer blk returns it's a better fixing but use Damcor, anyway great videos mate, and thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, cheers👍🏻

    Hopefully the customer didn't have any issues with the ceiling height....

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  5 месяцев назад

      It was a tricky one. The only way to achieve more height was to install a cold roof but this is not how it was designed by the architects.

    • @yesconstructionltd

      I was waiting for someone to ask this at some stage 😉
      I couldn't get it on time from Jenson and Selco didn't have it either. I asked the building control if he is happy with normal ply and he was as long as we covered it with a membrane.

    half the time lapse and more explaining the detail would make a better video . for example how you showed the connection for timber beams was informative. how is the osb held down ? screws what type of screw? how do you go about fixing the trims ? stick it nail it or screw it? fine telling us its done great but would be much better to tell us how its done . thanks

    • @yesconstructionltd
      @yesconstructionltd  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you David for your honest opinion and I definitely take that on board.
      I am emotionally connected to the videos so I make many mistakes and I only see them a month later.
      It's also a confidence issue ( talking to camera) but I think I am over that now and I feel a lot more comfortable.
      You are not the first person saying this to me so I am reall trying now to take my videos from a different angle where I explain the stages, layers, materials etc.
      I will be recording how to apply micro cement in the bathroom and a double pocket door installation and I have plan to really go into details.
      Thanks again for the valuable comment

      We have a barrier as high as the insulation. There is no need to go above it, as there will be no condensation there. All the wood above it is cover with resin and flushings.
