      I'd rather stay in tonight (I prefer to stay home tonight) - I'd rather he went out tonight ( I prefer he went out tonight) past tense is subjunctive - not past ! Please watch my lesson on this topic: ruclips.net/video/oRc_Av2USts/видео.html - don't forget to share

    Hello, can we also use "would just as soon?"
    For example:
    1) I don't want to go there! I'd rather go and play football with my friends.
    2) I don't want to go there! I'd sooner go and play football with my friends.
    3) I don't want to go there! I'd just as soon go and play football with friends.
    Do these sentences mean the same? Thank you!

    • @Englishing

    Hi sir, thank you for this video..
    I have one question i.e., In negative sentence with one subject , you have used first form of the verb for present ..so sir why we can't use past verb for past... for instance., I would rather watched (for past ) the movie in cinema.. Instead of writing this why we write .. I would rather have seen the movie in Cinema..{ I know that we use past verb for present with two subjects sentence..e.g., I would rather you didn't call me.
    I am passionately waiting for your reply sir..
    THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN..

    • @Englishing
      @Englishing  7 лет назад +1

      Nice question !!! I would rather you stayed (is not past....it is subjunctive) home tonight.
