So….I made a big error in the video. Humidity level was at 82%. I was looking at the “chance of rain” when I said it was at 48%. That would have felt GREAT! Guess the heat was getting to me and I didn’t know how to read my weather app anymore😂👍🏻

I had a leak-proof camper shell thanks to my mom. She advised me to hose water over the top and check for leaks (there were several spots) and the solution was to apply beads of transparent silicone caulk on the outside seams. It took about an hour of troubleshooting but eventually the last stubborn leak was found - I sealed it and from then on it was bone dry - you can do it! 😄

I poll over one night, put on my hardhat and prayed during a bad storm in TX. You may want to pull on a tire boot, in some area and have back-up. sleep for 30 years in rest-areas. No problem, for 30 years. ALWAY HAVE 2 gallon of water as your back. Keep a wet towel with you to keep you awake and alert. AT THE REST AREA PICK-UP MAP TO STUDY, and a cup of coffee.

You guys have great camping spots down there! This one is so neat and tidy, and well laid out. I think there are 2 things you could get that would help make your camping a little better. One being a pop up canopy so you have shade and to keep out of the rain. You could set it up over your tailgate so you could have it open and have some workspace for meal prep. The other thing is coozies or Hydroflasks to keep your drinks cold. I have no idea how you can drink from a can when it's so hot. LOL : )

Yup. I said that wrong. I was looking at the wrong #. We were closer to 63%. It was thick out there👍🏻
I have always soaked wild game of every type in beer. 24 hours covered with beer in the fridge. I’m sure it works great on any type of meat.

From South Africa. Morning Brian, it's no secret that South Africa is a semi desert, water scarce, relatively hot climate.
To combat heat while camping we have something we call (Africaans) n silver seil.
Evenly it's a canvas backed, silver fabric that reflects the heat, and comes in sizes ranging from 3x3 m to 6x10 m.
It's got eyelets all the way round for poles & guy ropes,.and we cover our tents, trailers, awnings whatever and it reflects heat like nobody's business.
Woks extremely well.
Google it, perhaps you lot have it or similar there

@@BrianWatersOutdoors hi definitely not reflextic, backing is a ripstop canvas and top is a silvered material. Strong & durable. For winds, We also have the habit of throwing a cargo /swimming pool net over everything then staking that down, independently of already deployed stakes..pretty much bomb proof.

From my experience with mules, the copper mug just basically keeps it colder. Not sure if there is something else with the chemical reaction or something dealing with the copper and the alcohol. Just keeps it colder than glass.

I was wondering about the Bodega the entire episode until you showed it because I knew I saw it in the back seat lol. It's actually a pretty good test and shows the brand's durability and quality. What a beautiful storm? I know you don't get lightening shows like that too often in Texas but I see them quite frequently in Wisconsin and it is mesmerizing.

My father in law came to visit from Lubbock, when he got out of the truck and the humidity hit him , he looked like he got hit with a 2X4, of course Lubbock has low enough humidity to use "evaporative coolers" to cool the house. we called them swamp coolers because they just raised the humidity to an even more miserly level. I like your a/c set up enough to build one for my topper

Maybe I missed it but I thought the 12 volt refrigerator was inside the truck? I mean in the perfect scenario yes outside would be great but when it's raining I thought he had a backup battery that could be connected to the refrigerator?
👍🏻 I normally do have it inside, but I had it outside plugged up to the power pedestal….and the rain came in so fast I forgot to bring it in when it started pouring. Good thing is that it’s still working👍🏻

How long does that Ryobi fan last on one battery?? Texas weather is crazy my aunt in Houston mentions how stepping outside is just a blast of heat hitting you. Is that window A/C keeping up with the three-digit temperature or does it struggle a little... 80 degrees in the camper is way better that anything over 100 degrees outside lol. The fan lasted over 24 hours on medium speed with a 4ah battery👍🏻 and the a/c does great. It got down to below 65 degrees once the sun went down
