Yeah I started crying uncontrollably at that moment the first time I watched it...it still give me chills and makes me choke up a bit every time! Smart and gut-wrenching at the same time, I'd say! ;)
I just started listening to Caroline Shaw.Actually I never heard of her. I was admitted to the hospital, and her music was on the television channel. I’ve been a fan ever since.🤙🏽You Go Girl. Much respect!!!! D-J SAMMY DEE. NORTH PHILLY ✊🏽
I find this is a transfixing and stupendous piece and performance. Every individual sound and the silences in between are so carefully and skillfully produced and combined to create what feels like a perfect distillation of human emotion and expression through sound. Thank you for making it and sharing it.
Came here thanks to a review in the 'Times' of a recent concert - what wonderful use of harmony and counterpoint - can't believe I hadn't heard of her before!
shaw uses her voice with the same virtuosity as a master violinist. such control of tone, timbre, and intonation, it reminds you why they're called vocal "cords"
Such tasty harmonies. At times feels like every voice glides into a chord from multiple spots - it’s quite uncanny, yet extremely powerful. Love, pure love
WoW. What energy, space and sense of music and emotion! Bravo It surprises at first, the singled notes and the empty spaces, so then those later allow for fills on marimba and voices by successive adding players and singers, all timely rising their voices and energy... Actually transforming the whole emotional experience into a deep plea. A jarring request one would guess the object of such, being distant somehow (unattached perhaps). The note extensions and chord changes are truly amazing, making a play on actual pressure levels, done in such musical contemporanean composition by actually going backwards into the renaissance, contrasting the more classical scales of the original, so to leave performers and audiences in rapture... Thanks for such experience. I could only figure on Benny's original final GX-1 baroque arrangement on counterpoint with the main melody, being added somehow, probably on a forma extension, to be coherent with the rhythmic empty spaces from the beginning. That second in crescendo would be above glorious, yes.

I love how this is used in The Pride of Cincinnati's color guard show.
My first time seeing them this year was their finals performance and I haven't been able to stop listening to this AND their song from last year
I really hope the musical artists saw their show

The fortissimo harmony sent me to a different dimension where I was smiling uncontrollably. Very smart stuff here.

Canny woman, recognising the brilliant of Abba and making it all her/their own. I wonder what Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus would make of it?!

omg! don't do it, pleas! My ears are bleeding!
This is the most boring rendition of that song
The usual vacuous, attention-seeking nonsense from Shaw and her cronies!
Actually just really good music for those who have ears to hear.
