QNED vs OLED vs QLED | What's the best TV tech in 2021?

- QNED is LG's fresh 2021 TV tech, joining OLED and Samsung's QLED televisions to overjoy our eyeballs. But which screen type produces the best 4K/8K visuals? Here we dive into QNED vs OLED vs QLED, seeing how Samsung has evolved its own televisions into the fresh Neo sets, and how mini LED stacks up against the new micro LED tech.
OLED is still the champion for infinity contrast, thanks to each pixel having the ability to switch on or off. In contrast, QNED and QLED use backlighting to produce their images - but mini LED technology means a crazy number of lights are crammed into a tiny space. So contrast on the upper-end TV models is comparable to OLED, while you can also enjoy higher brightness, natural colours - or poppy in-your-face visuals too.
As an added benefit, LG's QNED and Samsung's QLED televisions are generally more affordable than those OLED panels. Although you can still drop quite a lot of cash on a top-end flagship 8K TV from these guys, and even the 4Ks aren't exactly wallet friendly.
As an added aside, you might not want to invest in a micro LED set any time soon, which boast incredible clarity vs the mini LED screens thanks to even greater concentrations of even tinier lights. These are mostly commercial sets, thanks to the huge size and prohibitive cost.
This is to confusing, I'm going to Qbed
Hey we are in 2022 and this is still confusing
Qbye then.

Most TVs are looking so good recently. I honestly bet the average consumer would be fairly happy with just about anything- but I do totally respect those who need the best of the best. I was trying to choose between a couple Hisense models a few months ago. Both were priced almost the same but ended up going with the one with slightly worse specs because I loved the stand and the overall design of it much more. The picture should be technically better on the other model but when I got mine in my apartment with nothing to compare to I think it looks pretty darn good. Anyway everybody enjoy your new TVs no matter what you get!
OLED IS the best of the best of the best, sir!
@@minerprolol9050 It is but is is worth the cost? Its twice as much as the QNED. If its worth it or not is up to the individual.
I am loving my 75" LG 75QNED99UPA. I've never had an OLED, but this TV is excellent. The black's are deep, the colors natural and not over saturated. Just a great panel IMO.
I have same one im going to upgrade ill let you know difference
... I like my projector. When the lamp dies, I'll think of upgrading. [or finding a replacement bulb]
I’m honestly sold on anything mini or micro LED after comparing my iPad’s mini LED to my OLED screen. They both produce amazing pictures but the mini LED can light up different parts of an image simultaneously, bringing the whole image into focus and thereby into life. Whereas the OLED can only manage to bring only specific parts of an image into focus. Mini LED is obviously also better at showing greater detail thanks to those tiny light emitting diodes, and the sheer number of them concentrated into the same space as OLED TVs. Can’t wait to see what micro LED looks like. Or micro OLED.
You are comparing an IPad to a TV. The one with the smaller screen will always look sharper. Now if we are talking about OLED MiniLED the one that brings subjects into focus better is the OLED. The OLED isn't using any lighting from behind each pixel is it's own light source.
I bought the C9 when it came out in 2019 it's still the best of the best tvs I have ever owned to this day
I use 6 OLED devices - TV/monitor, 2 laptops, tablet, phone, and a smartwatch. So I can confidently say, OLED all the way :)
The only thing I don't like about OLEDs is pixel burn-in. That's why I wouldn't recommend it on laptops or tv ( if you plan on keeping it on all day an not watching anything)
@@dragonalfaata I assume that's what screen savers are for.
I have had a 55” LG B6, a 55” LG C6, a 65” LG C8, and I currently have a 65” LG C9 and 48” LG CX, plus I’ve owned the iPhone X, and 11 Pro Max. I’ve never had burn in problems and never met anyone who has. Every single one of my displays is gorgeous and captivating.
@@walmartpimp2 @Tech Nerd @Doge The Dog
1. This pixel burning defect is not covered by many years of protection (like 10), which proves that the defect exists. 2. The screen saver does not activate if you watch news broadcasts for many hours, causing burn-in on red or yellow stripes or logos.
@@regis32 10 years I'm gonna have an 100" 8K micro LED TV, so all my OLEDS can blow up for all I care. In the meantime I'll be taking preventative measures should a static image be on screen for hours on end. Also rarely anything has a 10 year warranty. I bought the platinum warranty on my car, and it's not even 10 years long.
So, to sum it up. QNED and QLED are still built on the same old backlighting technology, only more and smaller backlighting than before. This means you will not have as crisp contrast as an OLED. Most notisable in dark/night scenes
Sooooo QLED or QNED?
Chris could be a good science teacher. Imagine he is teaching science lesson in the class, and the laughter of every kid being so enjoyable on their science lesson
It would be better if it was a side by side comparison. Expecting it later this year❤️❤️
Well done for explaining Chris, remember not the 9o`clock news? What do I do with my old 78s
Had an LG oled, got hideiously screen burnt, changed to samsung q90t , but not near as good a picture as the oled when it was new, fresh and unburnt, backlight needs it all, qned looks like it might be a winner.
Can you review the nubia play 5g 🙏
I'll get in touch with my Nubia contact, see if they have any review units :)
@@TechSpurt Thank you so much! 🙏 I want to buy one but I don't know much about it.
I used to read The Q Bikes in the Beano in the early 1960s. We had no telly.
I've not had a telly for ten years and I don't miss it one bit. ( I read the Beano too with good old Dennis and Gnasher.)

A 77” LG 4K LG G1 vs a Samsung 75” 8K Neo QLED QN900A? Which do you think would be better for someone who isn’t paranoid about screen burn in, will have the TV in a room that is fairly bright most of the time, has access to 8K content, but can only buy one or the other?
We are spolied with 5v options nowadays. I remember when a basic hdtv was 5k when it first came out. Now you can get a great 65' for less then 500
The market is saturated with versions upon version. I’m overwhelmed by specs when I search online or walk into a store. Can you please advise? SAMSUNG has Qleds in A and B lines and 60, 80, 90’s I’m assuming the newer lines are indicated by the letter and so is the series? What’s better in the case of Q80A or Q60B?
Our Tv broke. Need one for MOVIE LOVERS please. Budget under $1000 as I intend on getting a sound bar. I read the 60B is for “casual movie lovers” and the color is off when sitting at an angle.
PLEASE help!
The human eye can only see what it sees. The older one gets, typically, the worst vision. Maybe the industry should rate their displays based on the age of the viewer. They are already doing that for age appropriate toys and that's what all this technology is becoming for us more mature audiences.
Very true, my eyes are already giving up on life, along with the rest of me to be honest
WHICH ONE DO I GET FOR SPORTS ONLY THEN??? PLEASE HELP!!!
Very excited about the latest announcement from Philips. Do you think their new Mini LED could compete with the likes of Samsung (QLED), LG (QNED) or Sony?
Never. Philips fell out of home theater game a long time ago.
@@kfj6709 I'm a big fan of the Ambilight though, huge USP but you need to have tried it
I was going to buy the oled TV but I'm afraid that the pixels are going to burn out after four years of using it.
I can’t get sky Q so I have opted for sky glass and I’m getting that delivered Friday which will replace my sky plus HD in my flat

kind of made it more muddy bcoz just need a simple answer--which one to buy if you are looking for the best at an affordable price....
Good information, but have the actual TVs side by side so we can actually see the difference. Thank you for the review.
What do you recommend for the anime lover uncle spurt?
I know the OLED is better but I believe they both give you a good picture quality
OLED is still the king, LED technology is trying to catch up. However, there's no comparison for flexibility, the new folding tv from LG is the most expensive in the market and can only come from OLED tech.
You didn’t actually say anything about QNED vs QLED, you just said they’re closely competitive
Thanks Chris, simple and precise 👍
I still rocking a plasma. When I get a 4K big tv I’ll go qned. Wonder if Samsung makes them
240hz-360hz QNED gaming displays?
Which is Best then - QLED, QNED or OLED ?
That's what I want to know.
OLED My bro! 💥💣💣💣
Qned, no burn in
@i-Amin there is no best. OLEDs are too dim in well-lit rooms. Also, for me, the major deal breaker is longevity. OLEDs don't stand up to heavy usage like LCDs do. My panel is on 16 hours a day, every day, and often has still images.
The best LCDs like the Samsung Neo QLEDs are noticeably brighter, are almost as good on blacks, and last longer than an OLED will. They are better than the equivalent LG or Sony LCDs because they have far more local dimming zones. This gives the Samsung Neo QLEDs the deepest blacks you can get short of an OLED.
Anybpdy else remember when those hige projector tvs were great.
I have a C2 and I promise my 2019 Samsung Q60R looks just as good. No kidding. At all.
🧐Micro Led is Ultra Instinct .💙
Unfortunately, the better and thinner the screens get, the shitter the sound gets without additional speakers. I would hazard a guess that only 20%of families have additional speakers etc, which leaves most of us getting a generally quite poor sound experience.
That is why people go with sony TVs if they don't have enough left to spend on a sound system
I closed the video when he said "tele box"
but I came back when he mentioned selling organs
Very useful video! Thanks a lot! QNED looks the best. :)
Had a LG CX for 3.5 weeks and got burn in down in the bottom left hand of the screen :(. The HUD from Red Dead Redemption 2 did the burn in. Only had 49 hours on the LG also. So the tv store switched me into a Samsung Q90T and the brightness difference is massive. The LG was kinda dark in my medium lit room. And the colours on the 90T are nice and vibrant. I’m wondering if I should of waited for the Samsung QN90A micro led. But I also don’t wanna piss the store off and exchange this tv too. What would you guys do... any advise here?
Samsung QNED is different tech. Just a heads up.
still have crt tv!
Everyone is saying qned but I've went to the store and have the opportunity to compare them, I'd say Oled > Qled by a small margin but QNed is actually bad. It has good color but I can litterally see the pixels up close. Qned is infant in its tech.
the only tech guy i really listen too , i wish i had 8k tv money ... this last yr i dont think many have haha less you big youtuber :)
Aye, would be a great time to have a proper 'cinema room' with a massive 8K screen, surround sound etc. Ah well, we can but dream!
Oled has faster response so gaming is good plus perfect blacks
I only watch old repeats of Bullseye, will they look any better ?..."and this is what you could of won a 60" QNED Telly"
QNED's ,OLED's and QLED's.....too little organs to sell for 8k. Got to take a senzu for this one
Hello from Germany ☕ Are here people from Germany to write in germsn? I thought QNEDs are LCDs.
Ok, at first I didn’t understand why people made such a big deal about OLED, only because I’ve never owned OLED before in my life.
I was using the iPhone 8 Plus and after buying the iPhone 14 it soon took me by surprise. Don’t get me wrong, my dad owned a Galaxy Note 3 back in 2012 until he passed in 2020, and that phone had AMOLED… but I’ve only used it to play games and watch a bit of movies when I didn’t have a phone. I always knew it was great even with my 8 Plus but I never really looked at it in a broad way.
This OLED however is different from that AMOLED. I think this one is better but somehow the Note I believe is nicer. I haven’t compared them since I got this phone, but it’s super nice.. and lemme get into detail about it.
It’s soooo Vibrant, That’s obvious.. but there’s more. First thing I noticed from the change was the Backlight. When using LCD you can tell there’s backlight. When I glanced at the 12, 13, and 14.. you can tell there isn’t backlight. The display brightens up in a weird way and coming from LCD this technology seemed super ET.
The deeper blacks and the more vibrant colors really affect me till today. The 8 Plus always seemed bland and it’s insane. I feel like OLED is the best tech used in modern day and I don’t know any other that can overtake it.
(I said so much without saying much💀)
Me with my CRT TV
Those old Sony and Panasonic flat screen televisions had just about the best and most realistic picture I've seen on a television - with the exception of those high-end Panasonic plasmas and those brilliant Pioneer Kuro televisions, perhaps the best televisions ever made.
Ah I have my 13 inch philips CRT turned on in the background. It's not bad for a 25 year old TV
mini led ?

Can i ask why we are comparing modern tv's to LCD tv's in 2022
It sounds like lovely tech, it truly does.. But I remember getting my LCD TV back in the day, got Sky+ with HD to enjoy the lovely HD visuals available, only to watch Last of the Summer Wine repeats on Gold 🙄 so yeh..
You can't beat the classics!
@@TechSpurt Indeed you can't, Gold is now HD so I get to see the oldies in lovely visuals 😁
No it didnt help clearing things up. This video basically said nothings that was "VS" just explaining the name and the tech.
that's what we really want more acronyms to battle with
QBED is the BEST
Best RUclipsr ever
You're far too kind, thanks for watching mate!
Wow they're trying so hard to not pay the oled royalties
Can anyone understand what this qtwat is even saying?
I hope that they are more reliable than the crap that's on the market because all i'm getting out from a TV is around 2 years !! and they were both Samsung .
Eesh, that's really bad - which Samsung TVs? OLEDs?
A lot of televisions are badged up as Sony and Panasonic when in fact they're made by Vestel, the Turkish company which makes a lot of supermarket own brand televisions. This is why the televisions don't last very long: they are full of cheap, low-quality components. Shame on Sony and Panasonic for conning people (Toshiba, Sharp and Philips have been pulling this con-job for ten years now).
@@TechSpurt Yes !!.
@@TechSpurt Yes !!.
Why?.... Pointless... Most streaming media won't have the bandwidth. Computers and laptop screens will be the same pointless! So who are they for? A person who lives next to a data centre? Not going to sell many at those prices if they exist at all...
Wot about Qanon.
So actually you are not comparing shit. Got it!
A 4K OLED TV can compete with an 8K QNED.
No
