I like the way you compared it with your other ENG mics in that quick sequence. The Lewitt sounds great. Cheryl must love the phrase “no proximity effect.” She’s an omni fan!
Agreed. I like Lewitt mics in general and this was definitely the most natural sounding of the group you juxtaposed. I am a little biased and truly dislike any vocal mic that isn't at least a tiny bit mid scooped though. Keep cranking them out my friend... Good job.
Damnnn i remember when u had like 2000 subs back in 2015 and i used to see all your mic reviews I dont even watch your vids anymore but its cool to see you're still around Idk if you remember me but i was the one who asked you to do a blue spark review
I am impressed that you still regard the 635a so highly. I have one and absolutely love the tone of it, too. That Lewitt sounds the fullest of all omnis I've heard, color me impressed! Of all of those, the Røde was the least impressive to me; but I would absolutely consider getting the Movo, if the chance occurs.
I bought the Movo interview because of an earlier review. I still think it's better for me. The plosives and handling noise and background noise rejection seem better in the Movo than with the Lewitt. I don't use a windscreen with mine except when I'm outside in a windy environment and then I use a fuzzball on it. This one sounds good but I don't see $150 difference for an interview mic.
Bandrew you gotta check out the new Kingston HyperX Quadcast! It was released recently and apparently performs really well compared to the Yeti. Anyways nice review as always 👌
For a second I thought that was an Nvidia mic... their logos look really similar. I agree, that is the best sounding out of your ENG's. Handling noise is pretty bad though... even when you switched hands during the outro it was pretty loud.
@@Podcastage It actually wouldn't surprise me if Nvidia made a microphone... They make gaming gear, and lots of gamers need a good mic for RUclips/Twitch.
I own this mic and unfortunately I was disappointed: - the handling noise is really annoying during interviews! (especially since you don't hear yourself during the interview, you won't notice it) - the output gain is really low - especially for camera-preamps, which are usually cheap (you can help yourself with a fethead tho - or you use a wireless transmitter, i.e. the SKP100 delivers a clean signal) - and the mic foam constantly slips off (as seen in the video - a good replacement is the Shure A 85 WS) Overall, I prefer cardioid condenser mics for ENG work.
my friend, these mics sound amazing for music. especially on drums right over the kick drum. but, take my opinion with a grain of salt because i like noisy music hahaha
I don’t know if it is my internet connetion, but the audio of your video is out of phase with respect of the image. (I double check and it was my wifi connection that caused the delay and consequently desyncronization between audio and video). (Don't mind this comment) By the way, it was a great review!!!
Excellent review Bandrew. Liked that you skipped saying "now we do gotta test for plosives"! FINALLY GOT TO YOU ON THE CORRECT ENGLISH!! Just for that I believe that you will reach 100K subcribers shortly............................. :)
Lighting on your face in this video is great. But it would make it much better if your room was lit with a small dedicated light instead of the light spilling from your main light. As usual great video about gear I won't buy but would watch your video till the end anyway. :)
I beg you, please, please review the microphone "Model: Microphone the t.bone sc 700". Nowhere is this, but very much required. Please do it. Save the world!
Got another ENG mic for you to review: Audio‑Technica AT8004L Handheld Omnidirectional Dynamic Microphone. I'm still trying to decide which one to buy, there's so many... I need your input!
No ENG mic comparison would be complete without the Sennheiser MD46 . I admire Lewitt a lot but the Interviewer hasn't gotten much traction as of late so perhaps a review such as yours will at least stir up more interest and side by side comparisons.
At 5:19 we say ENG microphones are inadequate for music. Assuming a microphone's frequency response graph was flat and we EQed it in a DAW to look like an SM58 (for example), wouldn't it work well for music then or is this oversimplifying things?
Question: I noticed when you were using this microphone connected directly to your Canon camera there was a hissing sound. Is that something you can expect while connecting this direct? Thank you for your videos. You do a great job.
Great review, I'm would like to get this to do street interviews with a Sony ZV-1. Do you know if this will work with that camera? Do you know if it requires its own power and what connectors will I need. Thank you for your help.
Dear Bandrew, may I ask between the "Lewitt Omnidirectional Interview Microphone" and the "Electro-Voice 635A" which has less handling noise, I hope this question still gets to you. Thank you so much for the info~
Can you do a rewiew of the t.bone sc 420 usb desktop mic kit its about 70euros Cus i dont find that anywhere so i ask u about it And greetins from finland
No frequency response is a bit odd. Looks like it might want a cloudlifter if you are at 100% on your interface. Mic preamp should never be at 100%. Lewitt is amazing in allot of their mics. But for ENG it fits the bill.
Great timing! I was just hired to start recording post game interviews and they gave me a budget to buy new microphones. Because I’m going to be on a soccer/football field post game I was hesitant about this mic because of just how much noise it does pick up. I’m debating between this and the RE50b. Any input on which would handle background noise better?
If you’re really concerned about background noise, one of the Omni dynamics probably wouldn’t be the best bet. I “think” that the Sennheiser MD46 was designed for super loud environments like football matches, but I can’t recall if that’s 100% correct. But you would need to be more active with mic placement with a more directional mic.
Thank you for another great review. Please may I ask if you could add the Aston Stealth on the list of mics we can vote for on the geeksrising.com/podcastage page? ^^ Thanks once again!
@@Podcastage That's great news - I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. It's going to be a beast to review, with all the different modes, but I'm sure you'll put together the best review on youtube. Cheers!
Lewitt is the most impressive new microphone brand of this century. It'd be great to see you take a look at their higher-end LCT models.

I like the way you compared it with your other ENG mics in that quick sequence. The Lewitt sounds great. Cheryl must love the phrase “no proximity effect.” She’s an omni fan!
Cheryl loves the fact that I wasn't testing music! What a bully she is.
No effect from her proximity to you. In her way of thinking the phrase would be synonymous with silence. 😉

Also, how may we rise up against Cheryl?
The box you alluded to was a link to your ENG mic playlist.
The box in my room. Not on the video playback area.
@@Podcastage Ah, I see. Thanks for the correction.
It would probably be a good idea to isolate the cable from the handling noise part of the test as this is likely more of the noise we're hearing.

To deal with the handling noise you could buy a pair of those foam grips for a bycicle an put one on the microphone. The diameter should fit.
That's a very clever idea!

I have noticed that Eric Andre has an EV635a on his desk in his show.
Does anyone know if it is actively being used during filming?
Insanejughead it isn’t used very much if at all. His desks get destroyed every episode.

I'd like to think that you play those noises just a tad louder than usual just to show Cheryl who's boss...
Especially the horror soundscape of people screaming. Absolutely!
Are you going to review the HyperX Quadcast ? :)
Decent sounding mic, but I think I like the rode better.
