Good video. A couple of concerns though. First you were concerned about scratching up the stock while you had the weight of the gun pushing the scope into the table. Probably would be a good idea to remove the scope. Second, you mentioned that the receiver is aluminum and to not mess it up. Probably isn't a good idea to lay the side of the receiver across the the trigger assembly while you hammer out the buffer. They make jigs for that. I use a roll of tape, works well.
There is always an Asshole that watches a DIY Video, then needs to correct the instructions. That makes the stupid feel smart.
Best 10/22 video on assembly and disassembly
I concur.
Thanks for the vid! I followed it step by step when I did a takedown of my son's 10/22. First timer here! Proud of myself! I did have a little trouble getting the bolt to seat back in with the recoil spring assembly, but I remained persistent and finally got back together! You made it look so easy! Thanks again! Very helpful!
Sometimes it is fun to take things apart and then put them back together. I had my share of learning experiences with the 10/22. Glad the video was helpful.
It doesn't look like you do many videos anymore. I appreciated this one, I couldn't figure it out, until you said to mess with the safety button. That did the trick! Thanks!
I'm currently doing a build for a Ruger 10/22 with a underfolder MWB stock, AMD 63 pistol grip, Green Mountain finned barrel, Williams rear sight, and BX-Trigger. New to 10/22 dissasembly and amateur gunsmithing and this really helped. Thank you so much for posting a detailed video.
Thank you for an excellent video.
I had problems with my bolt not going back, thus rendering the rifle inoperable, and this video gave me the courage to disassemble the trigger/bolt assembly and try to figure out the problem.
Actually the problem was very simple, and nothing to do with the trigger/bolt assembly. I'd taken off the scope mounting rail, put the rail screws back in to fill the holes, and they were protruding inside and fouling the bolt.
Once I'd eliminated the other possibilities through disassembling while watching this video the answer came to me, but now I know a lot more about the inside of the 10/22.
Very well done. One of the best Firearm tutorials I've seen. Great quality and information. Much appreciated
Great video! Very detailed and I like that you note the tools specifically and the time stamp at the beginning is excellent.
Great video. I appreciate the well lit close up of the extractor and the barrel connection. Helps to see what you meant.
Very good video, especially showing how the extractor fits into the barrel slot.
Nice detailed description, thx! Been fascinated with the 'modular' design of these and looking to install one into a 3D printed chassis.
I watched several videos on dismantling a 10-22. By far, your video was the simplest and easiest to understand and follow. Great job.
One of the best videos I've seen on takedown and reassembling a 10/22. Thanks
Thank you, great video. I'm getting my Ruger 1022 this week and now I know how to disassembly-assembly it. Thanks to you...!
Thanks a lot. I just ordered a new extractor and spring for mine, after I watched your video and another video on changing the extractor I feel confident that I can do it.
Excellent video. I've seen several of these videos but they never mentioned lining up the barrel and the extractor. Thanks.
This videos is awesome! I just cleaned my and grandfather's 10/22 and the hardest time I had was putting back the charging handle and the bolt. I guess it takes a little more fidgeting with it.
Thanksy for making a great video. I am glad i am not the only one that has to play around to get the slide back in...it can be a battle..
Great vid, used it to clean and disassemble my NEW 10/22. As for some comments below. My barrel was hard to remove the first time and used a rubber malot which worked fine.
Amazing video. Thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed vid
Thank you for taking the time to post
Greatly appreciated
great job, gonna swap out a threaded barrel for the standard barrel. I had my doubts but not anymore, thanx
Great video. Very clear instruction and demonstration.
I know that this video is old, but I just came across it. Great presentation! Thank you!
Loved your video. Answered all my questions. Thanks for making it !
Great video. Thank you for posting. Professionally done and expertly explained.
Awesome video, I was able to do my entire receiver swap thanks to you.
Excellent video, very informative. One of the best on the 10/22 I have seen.
Thanks for the advice. You did blow my mind after I saw the beautiful buffing on the slide and you didn;t have any cushion protecting you rifle. However, I about fell backwards in my chair when I saw you use you receiever as a pounding lift. Just a suggestion: a roll of tape works much better and it isn't polished metal on polished metal (or aluminum). Just a thought-ty for the vide
Nice video dude, very clear and easy to follow.
Great video ,, gave me all the information i needed to disasemble reasemble my 10-22 Thank you
If you check around on the net you can find a tool that will really help in installing the bolt. It is nothing more than a thin strip of metal bent to hold the charging handle in the correct position to install the bolt. You can also make your own out of some thin aluminum sheet metal like I did. It's not a required tool but it sure makes reassembling a lot easier.
Straight to the point, great vid!
For the record, those are the coolest allen wrenches in the world!
The ejector position always gets me!
Thanks for really clear instructions great vid
I have seen many videos of 10/22 this the best one thank you for this video very detailed very good close up
Thanks for the very detailed video!! I'm going to get a Tactical Solutions barrel and didnt realize I have to line up barrel to extractor... I'm a noob....
I really appreciate your video very well done, thank you. Just shot my 10/22 today, horrible accuracy. I watched your video in anticipation of changing barrel. I was lucky to keep 10 rds in a 9" paper plate @ 70 yds. I just bought a savage axis .223, after break in it shoots inside a dime @ 70 yards with reloads.
40 grain projectile @ 1400fps vs 55 grain projectile @ 3000fps….No wonder!!
Thank you ! Very well done.
5/32nd Allen head. That's all I needed to know! Thanks!!!
Interesting scope setup. Great video!
best video ive seen at the beginning showing the times was awesome great job bud
Thanks for making this video, I hope it clears up my issues.
Thanks for the video! It was clear and concise with great video.
Solid video, thanks for your time
Good job. Very instructive and helpful.
Very informative video, great job, thanks!
I can't believe it took me this long to buy this rifle. I reload 9mm and the price of primers really got me thinking of a solution for the wife to shoot and not break the bank. Well this and the Sig p322 is what you get. She is very happy and so am I. We shoot every weekend and those 9mm reloads that I make add up when primers now are .14 cents a pop. I went from .14 cents a round to .25 cents. And that's with free brass I collect.
For a second I thought that the secondary extractor was part of the bolt locking mechanism and placed it in the wrong spot, got it a bit scratched. Thanks for the video.
I was always afraid to try this. Thanks to this video I will give it a go... Thanks
Excellent instructions, thank you.
Thank you for the good instructions! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Excellent video. Just took mine apart to SBR it upon getting my tax stamp back.
Very good over view of disassembly. Thanks
The 10/22 is such an amazing gun
Excellent video. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks for the info.
Thank you, awesome video. Helped a lot :)
It has been a while since I looked at my bolt. I'll see if I can pull it apart soon. I have heard that "rig grease" is a good product, but have not tried it myself. I use tetra gun grease for most of my guns.
I would think tightening the V-block aligns the barrel and the receiver, and the extractor just slides into place? Solid video, thank you.
thanks for the video its helpful for the botl took me a good few trys almost messed up with the hammer though thankfully i could fix it before i had to take apart the entire trigger assembly.
I love the 10/22, but don't ever want to take it apart unless it is absolutely necessary.
bgallaher77 Agreed though for me ive tooken it apart a few times hear lately and its gotten easyer though iver maily field stripped it with out removibng the barrel because i know i defiantly will screw that up.
Good film, going to do this as home soon.
Excellent video, Thanks helped me put my Ruger 10/22 back together
Great Vid. Absolutely solved my problem..
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video, I use my 10/22 to knock out a goat, bleed it out and butcher it, and 2 days ago I managed to forget it outside like a complete idiot, and it got filled with water thanks to a couple downpours in the past 2 days... Had to take it apart completely so that I could clean everything and re-oil it so that it doesn't rust, so again, I thank you very much for this video.
Yes, it is a pistol scope. There is a scope rail mounted to the barrel to allow the "scout rifle" setup. I added a link to my 10/22 video playlist to the description of this video. The last video on that playlist details the setup, if you were interested.
hi, really nice and simple video, great great info. thanks for sharing.
Thanks to every one leaving comments. I am glad you like the video. I plan on doing a custom 10/22 build next year once I recover from Christmas.
Great video! Clear and brief!!
Thank you for a great instructional video!
Great video, used it to clean my *New (used) 1022. BOY oh boy was she dirty. Awesome video and i will be checking what else you have.
Excellent video! Thanks
The scope is a BSA pistol scope with enough eye relief to also double as an intermediate eye relief scope. I found a gun on line (Chief AJ) who would put a regular rimfire scope base on the barrel for a reasonable fee. I don't think he does this any more, but my guess is that other gunsmiths would. The barrel is drilled and tapped for the base (not too deep) and the base screwed on.
Right on. I'll have to look for the tool. Thank you!
Hey thank you so much for doing this. I do have to say u did a very good job
Good to hear. The bolt can be a real bear, I sometimes use a screwdriver. Thanks for the comment.
awesome video this will really help when i get my 10/22
Damm that's one tricked out 10 22! Nice!
Nice clear and helpfull instruction video.
This was a great video thanks!
Thank you for this video!!
Thanks for your video, it was better than the instructions and the manufacturer video.
Great video well detailed and understandable
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks you saved me a big headache.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Thank u so much that is really helping with our Gun
Thanks for the informative video
Excellent video.
Best video made it look nice and simple
Hi , nice instructional video. Any recommendations on disassembly or cleaning of the bolt block/ firing pin assembly. My 10/22 is over 30 years old and it can get really grimey in there over time. Pressurized lubricants have done me well and it doesnt seem as gritty as it was but who know what it looks like in there. Thanks again
Your awesome bro, THANK MAN! Keep em coming bro.
I haven't really thought about that. The receiver is aluminum, so it won't rust. My barrel is stainless, so rust resistant. A coat of oil won't hurt.
If you wanted a really rigid fit between receiver and barrel you would need to degrease and use loctite/permatex. No oil there.
Golly those two pins in the back that release the trigger group man those are tight tolerances. I had to really hammer on those things with a punch to get them out. I wouldn't have thought a 22 would be this difficult it's harder than an AR to get out and the AR is really easy
I have a sporter 10/22 (22" barrel, rifle-style stock) that has between "okay" and "disappointing" accuracy depending on what I am shooting. I am thinking of switching out the stock and barrel. That being said, I think I am going to try and bed the barrel (if I do, video will be posted afterwards).
I have a savage 22 w/ heavy target barrel. Has amazing accuracy. Got to love Savage.
For the takedown screw you want something along the lines of a "big flathead". A short electricians flathead screwdriver would work. Something long and big also works, but is easier to slip and scratch the gun with.
Very good video. Thanks.
