Hi Katharyne. I''ve recently discovered your pages and love them. I'm a Uk user and am already signed with another course but wish I'd found you first.
Hi Dom, thanks for the nice comments! You would be very welcome to join our free Facebook groups :) The big one is at facebook.com/groups/katharynetreasure
Katharyne Shelton great vid..but in regards to keywords in bullet points and in the product description I contacted seller support and got in contact with the Sponsored Ads department.. they told me that keywords are only relevant within the product title. Many people told me the same thing you said in the bullet points and product description but according to seller support this is not true. Have you heard any updates on this ?
Hi Francis! There's more information on keywords here: www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201991750 Also, bear in mind that the information that shows up on the page listing is indexed by Google so by having good keywords throughout your listing, you'll also get traffic from people searching on Google :)
Katharyne Shelton Hi Francis. I was under the same impression as you but having seen one of Katharyne's videos, decided to look for myself. If you choose any listing and ignore title and bullet points but look only at the description, and then copy a short 'chunk' (6 or 7 words). You can test whether the description is relevant in amazon's search algorithm. Head back to Amazon's homepage and tap in to the search box the 'chunk' you've just copied. You'll see the item will appear as a search result. This means Amazon is definitely using product descriptions in its searches. It's a misconception that the description isn't important but perhaps let's keep it to ourselves and become enormously successful?
Dom Brandon Katharyne Shelton Hahaha sure thing Dom!! Yes Katharyne that does make a lot of sense to rank in google searches. Looks like i got to go back and change my bullet points and description agaaain !! Lol By the way i love your energy Katharyne!
Thankyou Katharyne for such a helpful and informative teaching video. You have given a great deal of insights in Amazon selling and given so freely - thankyou - I will try to emulate your attitude when I become successful and help others with good info.
Great video Katharyne. I have a new product called beachbagplus which has caused me listing issues because there is no such word its a common product with so many extra features. Any tip for dealing with this. After watching your video I deleted my listings and decided to start again..I have been bricks and mortar selling all of my life but Amazon has been like a black hole mystery
Hi Katharyne, we love watching your videos from US and thanks for sharing all of your experiences and ideas with us. I would like to ask a question about Product Description part. I know that it is not allowed to use basic html tag on product description. I am not trying to add any bold, bullet point or italic characters. Is there any ways that we can add at least paragraphs to our product description part? Thanks in advance.
+Aaron Dy Hi Aaron, not that I know of. They specifically prohibit any HTML or other code. Their example descriptions are all one paragraph. sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/10521
This is one of the best videos I have come across for selling on Amazon. The coffee cup you showed could also be used for sipping hot soup or any hot beverages. Do you have any video on product searches to sell on Amazon? Private Labeling?
Hi, great video really helpe me as a newbie ;-). One question i have on keywords i see from your video you use commas to separate your keywords. On amazon they say to avoid this and just use spaces, i am a little confused, can you clarify this?
warwick elliot yes - good question! Let me repost something I wrote on this recently: I've been asked to share my thoughts on two specific areas of keywords - in other words, whether or not you should comma separate keywords in the backend of Amazon listings) and whether you should repeat keywords in different phrases. So basically whether you should do: easter basket bunny or easter basket, easter bunny, basket, bunny My opinion is a little controversial and goes against engrained Amazon wisdom which says the former. I do the latter - I use commas and I even repeat words in different phrases. But I'll explain why. Previously, using commas supposedly wasted valuable space so most people taught not to use them. That's not really an issue any more as there is plenty of space. Most database systems use commas to separate phrases and *anecdotally* I've found that by using phrases separated by commas my listings seem to be found better with searches for those specific phrases. There is certainly no harm done by using commas. They also visually look cleaner. Worst case scenario is that Amazon simply strips them out and they have no effect, which might be the case. But they don't do any harm and potentially they have some considerable benefits (and my sales haven't suffered for using them) so I use them. Amazon have a good guide to keywords here. www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201991750 Their examples directly contradict what they say in the guidance. They actually state that commas are not needed but then go on to use them in their example. The guidance also says you don't need to repeat words but look at their example of 'nail pounder, nail puller' which does exactly that - repeating the word 'nail' in two phrases. Bear in mind that 'You don't need to' is not the same as saying 'Do not do this!' - there isn't a policy issue at stake here, it's just about optimization. Also, I strongly recommend some trial and error with your keywords. Figure out what works for you. Bear in mind there is NO way of pulling back end keywords from a listing. Any software that claims to do so is fibbing, has entered a dark and shady dealing with an Amazon employee or is literally hacking (not just scraping). I'll leave you with a tip though... you can enter the URL for a competitor's ASIN into Google Keyword Planner and get a list of keyword suggestions based off that listing. That's pretty powerful :) adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner
Thank you Katharyne ,awesome info which very useful. I have taken a lot of notes after watching this video. Can make a new video of KDP Guide to Amazon Keywords and Optimizing your Listing.
Hey, at 30:45 you are speaking about how amazon do not reveal the search terms and search volume for a particular product or a certain category of product, i have been selling stuffs in amazon since last one month and few days back i figured out that you can ask for advertising keyword search reports of what exact keywords consumers are searching for, and landing on your page also the volume and conversion rate through that keyword. So isn't it true that to quite an extent it will you plan out your keywords for your different products?
This video is very informative and detailed, so I Appreciate that quality! Does Amazon allow you to list Actual Sports Teams Names and Other Organizations/Acronyms when creating Keywords? Also, on average, what is the recommended Maximum & Minimum amount of Keywords to use? Thanks!
So, does the search algorithm work by combining individual words or by picking entire phrases? I.e., are these two keyword fields the same? USB computer speaker, USB Bluetooth speaker, USB iPhone speaker, etc and USB computer speaker Bluetooth iPhone
Not complaining. I just never looked for product by pictures or by category. I just type in the search, but that might be because i'm a man. I need a shirt i type shirt, I need pants I type pants mens size. I learned something new.

There's a lot of debate about this. One help file says not to use them but Amazon's own examples show comma separated keywords which is fairly standard across search engines. Anecdotally I seem to have better results using specific comma separated key phrases but obviously, it's not easy to test this. When the fields were shorter, leaving out commas saved space but that isn't really an issue. The way I see it, the worst case scenario is that the commas are simply stripped out so I see no harm in including them and potentially some benefits.

Hi, very informative video. I was wondering if there were different versions of Amazon out there. I do not have the option to add target audience, subject matter, other attributes or intended use.
It depends on the category - the listing screen is somewhat different for different categories of product.
Wow....thanks for saving me the money on keyword apps 😃

The ap searches are different because those look like searches for card game aps, which is correct. This is not for physical products sold on amazon.

FYI:
Use a single space to separate keywords. No commas, semicolons, carets are required.
Is this still relevant in 2019??
Thank you
In 2019 don't use comma's use only space.
