    In 1990 I worked at a place in Boston called the Tape Complex that made cassette duplications. One day a tall, quiet guy came in with a reel-to-reel master tape to get copies for his band. There was something mysterious about him that intrigued me so when the cassettes were ready I grabbed an extra copy. I'd never heard of Morphine but damn if I didn't wear that thing out. It was released a couple years later as "Good," in a different order and with 2 new songs. I still think its one of the most haunting, beautiful records ever made. I got to see Morphine many times but I wish that tall, mysterious guy was still around making music.

    Thanks for posting this! It says 1 string bass in the description. But I think it's actually two strings. Watch his right hand movement on "Scratch". He's definitely plucking down twice.

      I saw them in 93 I was at Molly Malone's in LA. it was real close to my house and I was siting at the bar having a beer, the place was empty when the 3 piece band started setting up, just as they were finished with sound check the place got packed. I couldn't see the band but it sounded really fn good, then I heard a horn section I thought wait i know it's only 3 guys. so I stood on my stool and could not believe what I saw , Dana Colley playing 2 sax's at one time. WOW best band experience ever.

    "Wow! I want to be that guy over there. Drunk on 10 beers, hanging out with my girlfriend... before 'I Know You Part 2.'
    In any timeline on Earth, putting aside everything we Human Beings have accomplished, I want to be the 'Yee-haw' guy at a live performance of Morphine in the 90s. Filled with Ginsberg's poetry, angry at some nonsense in my life, and knowing that none of this makes any sense."

    Is he really playing a ONE-string slide bass?? (That's what is says in the description).. I thought it was always a 2-string..

    • @HectorVII
      @HectorVII 3 года назад +6

      this is morphine when they had only just begun, it would eventually become a 2 string slide bass. this is actually a 1 string guitar played with a slide and a thick string
