they ended up getting me a rental car for which they payed for the car but I had to pay for the gas. I'm currently as I wright this sitting in my new truck. So the international I was driving was in derate and would not idle before I left the yard it threw a check engine light. And me being an ex Cummins mechanic i read the code and it was a doser nozzle error. I went inside and told the terminal manager he said call breakdown and informed him it's in derate and he said oh it's in derate now as if they knew it had issues before hand. I called breakdown he reads the code and he said doser nozzle for the def system I told him I know that one what's the others I see. He then informed me he can'tn read or see them because they care dealer codes. He said get on the highway put it in manual mode and drop a gear. I did that code cleared I get rolling and halfway to Oklahoma city truck throws a 40% derate I called the terminal told the manager he said call breakdown I did and the person I got this time had some common sense. He said your not gonna make it turn towards Hutchins to get it fixed and he reads a different code this time. I called the terminal back said I'm heading to Hutchins I need a fuel solution to take me there I stopped at a Flying j on i40. Shut the truck off got fuel started it up and was automatically in full derate. And if your wondering from Tulsa to the flying j I was at it's about 135mi so not even out of the state yet and it's cooked. Yet again called the terminal said I'm not making it anywhere I'm in full derate and called breakdown again got the person I just delt with luckily he ran a full system diagnosis pulled 38 codes and said what's the derate at I said it says shut down. He then stats just drive it ignore it I said it's a 5mph derate now he said oh s#*% ok let me find you a truck location. Found one and said your gonna need to drop the trailer I said ok I'll drop it at the swift yard here in OKC on nw10th st. he said perfect drop the trailer then the truck it will be in the shop tomorrow. I called the terminal the next day asked about the truck and was sent a rental car itinerary then received a phone call saying here's your car. now I'm currently in a new truck with no plate just a piece of paper saying it can be driven.
By the same token, and i brought this up before, if you drove knowing the truck will slam on its brakes at any given moment and someone rear ends you, whose at fault and who gets sued?

Is it even DOT legal with all those lights on? If not, end of story.

And totally agree... no way in hell i wouldve moved that truck. And whoever encouraged him to do so should be fired. Period.
