Let people speak and treat them with dignity. Simple yet apparently so hard to do for TV interviewers. What a class act
Rest In Peace Legendary Interviewer. You're never going to be forgotten
Rip Michael Parkinson, you will be missed
Michael. You gone to meet lily savage in that convent ❤❤❤
He will meet them all again
In the eternal
Depending on which level
God places him!
He was the best interviewer ever. He will be sadly missed.
Apparently when he told his Dad that he was getting his own TV show, the reply he got was "That's nice son. But it's not the same as playing cricket for Yorkshire though, is it."
One of a kind that was Sir Micheal Parkinson a true gentleman.
Rest in peace the legend sir Michael Parkinson myself and my dad love watching your show my favourite guest you had on your show they were sir Billy Connolly and Tom cruise and the late dame ends average and Sharon Osbourne and Judi dench and robin Williams
So sad. Rest in peace. Thank you for the many hours of intelligent conversation, laughter and just good humour. You will be missed.
Our prayers are with your family and friends 🙏
What a great interviewer. THE BEST.❤
There was no one like him, and there won't be again. 100 percent Yorkshire grit. RIP sir
Wonderful man, concerned to put others at their ease. Dignified and willing to listen in order to establish conversations with integrity. I agree with Elaine Paige's sentiment - how unlikely it is that we see his like again. There are a few once in fifty years or a century individuals- Michael Parkinson was given a gift and he used it to bless others.
Saturday Night in the 70's few pints first at local. Special Chow mein and Parky. Thanks for those fantastic interviews Micheal. RIP Great Man!
Simply the best. RIP Pafky.
Total gentleman.a legend. I was with my parents in Scarborough many yrs ago. We were on the beach. My brother and I. This family were playing cricket. My father was a massive cricket fan. He got talking to parky as he was known. We all had a great afternoon. With them. Wonderful memories xxx
The Doyen of celebrity interviewers. RIP and thank you!
A really great person and interviewer.
Rest in peace dear friend and rise in Glory. Much love. Xx.
That is the best tribute I’ve seen to Parky. I remember so fondly his 1970’s shows where he spoke to so many incredible people. Check out his interview with Dr Jacob Bronowski, as just one example of how he could bring out the best of his guest. These were talk shows, not chat shows. Orson Welles, James Stewart, Jimmy Cagney, John Lennon, Peter Sellers, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, to name just a few legends. I hope the BBC can show these extraordinary tv moments again.
Well done to 5 News, a lovely package.
Simply unforgetable 👌
Reminds me of my teens in the 70s , as a family with mum and dad we all would watch Parky , and we all enjoyed watching , I can't say we watched many programs together as a family , RIP the best interviewer .
Exactly, that is so well put, back in the days of Inteligent conversation, with the family listening to every word. I thought as I grew older we would improve and better these years, sadly I feel this era was the peak.
So sad, I have been treading this day for some time, we will never hear his voice again, has been a part of my life for over 50 years.
Aww...I loved Parky! What a lovely man! And being from Cudworth (or Cuddeth as it is actually pronounced), he was still a local celebrity to me even though he moved south years ago! He was a Yorkshireman through and through. I remember when I was younger, going on a coach trip to the tv studios with my parents to be in the audience for the filming of one of his shows - he was interviewing Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and one or two others (can't remember who now). I was a bit too young to really know who they were but I knew who Michael Parkinson was and it was great to watch him in action lol. What a legend! Rest in Peace Michael...you'll be sorely missed xxx
Rest in peace. You where the best. ❤
I grew up with Parkinson and his interviews from the tender age of 6 which is where I started remembering his interviews.
I vividly remember the Rod Hull & Emu interview like it was yesterday.
Tears of joy and sadness intermingled.
Michael Parkinson: A class act! Thank you for your contribution to wholesome television which is sorely missed these days. Won't ever forget you! /BRO HUG!
He was the kiddie second to none
A legend
He was a wonderful entertainer, Interviewer, Legend, God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️ rip ❤
that theme song to the parkinson show, made quite an impression on my journey as a musician. RIP Sir Michael Parkinson
His a Legend of chat show host sir Michael Parkinson RIP 1935-2023 😢
Always love watching the Rod Hull & Emu moment...😂 If you could survive that, you could survive anything! 😀
A real legend.
A brilliant broadcaster and a true gent in every respect. He interviewed a who's who of amazing people and audiences loved him. God bless you Sir Michael ❤ 😊

God Bless Parky!
Grew up watching Parky, he set the bar for interviewing
😢 never be another parky ❤ so admired him
British national treasure
❤
Thanks those were the best time
Natural actors
Great entertainment achievement success
Today make a film 🎥
Every one gets Oscar's
For doing nothing
Totally rubbish today
Just thousands of tv channels
I don't have a BBC license at all since 1993
I had my day's back
1950/60/70/ when we England ❤at best
And BBC.........
Sorry to hear. R.I.P.
Frank Sinatra. Adam Ant. There’s two for you that never appeared on Parkinson.
Can you at least put his image in the thumbnail
❤
& they didn't have a minutes silence for him at oakwell 🤬
Sinatra ?
This channel should sack their thumbnail creator.
That’s Ted Cruise, not Parky.
Sad sacks can't even pay devotion to a man that Tom Cruise would admit was 20 times his manhood.
It is sickening how some alleged reputable companies clickbait to the same degrees as Tik Tok nabs.
Erm, That’s TOM Cruise, who was a guest on Parky’s show so there’s probably not an urgent need for HR to end a possibly potentially promising position in Thumbnail Creation. What an exciting job! Just what do the kids today do to get such a career?
(But you were obviously joking … you wag, such a clever play on words !)
"The Legendary Sir Michael Parkinson"......what a JOKE!!! Being paid handsomely for "Sitting in a Chair and Talking to people in the Limelight"!!!! How many 'Legendary folk are there in England and the rest of Britain who do incredibly fifficult jobs, under somtimes appalling conditions, long hours night and day on little pay to keep the roof over their heads,, over their families, to feed them and keep them warm, to pay for schooling who NEVER Complain but stoically 'march on with life'!? How many Miners, Heavy Engineering workers, Pylon constructors, Oil drilling men in the freezing North Sea, working 12 hour days, and more, how many Lifeboat sailors risking life and limb, North Sea trawlermen going out in dangerous conditions and sometines receiving a pittance, the .ist is 3xtensive of REAL LEGENDARY HEROES!! Not like TALKING HEADS in watm studios being paid a small fortune to tell people, invariably, what they always know!!! "Sir" Parkinson..... what an insult to Soldiers, the Sailors and Airman and women in the front line risking life andl limb and sanity so he can pontificate!!!!!!!
I take your point. Well presented.
He was a great guy end. Loved his shows ❤️
We all have our own stories to tell and they are not always the best, Parkinson to me was an escape from my life to enjoy the humour and unbelievable world that others live in. I thoroughly enjoyed the moment. Thank you Michael
@MaverickSeventySeven - Give it a rest! Yes there are a lot of hard-working people out there who do a lot for society for very little in return...Parky's family included! But his parents didn't want him to go down the pit - they wanted a better way of life for their son, and he certainly achieved that! He's done well for himself and I applaud him! I'm sure if you could have done better for yourself, you would have done and got out of the rat race! All the celebrities that were interviewed - they got out too...they don't do a fifficult job or even a difficult job but you don't moan about them...
Nothing was stoping all the people with the difficult jobs you mention from becoming a tv personality comrade. You sound like The Monty Python four yorkshiremen skit ............. you were lucky. Pathetic jelousy.
