I had the privilege of seeing this film in an older type movie theatre on "Bad movie Night". Once a month on a Thursday this theater would play a B movie, it was great and the audiences reactions and laughter and quick witted comments made it all that much more fun. Before the movie started the theater would play old 70's and 80's commercials that were cheesy as hell and a few old educational public broadcast clips that were just ridiculous for today's standards. It was a blast! Funny part is is that the theater didn't promote what movie was playing that night but rendered a poster with a picture of a cut off pair of jean shorts blowing away in the wind as a clue of what movie it was. After watching the film I understood the poster. This is truly a movie that's so bad it's good.

Hip firing rifles was a common technique used by special forces, i think, during vietnam war. They were training target shooting from the hip and they needed to have a good score. It was about reaction time when ambushed in the jungle. Returning accurate fire without beening constantly on high-ready. That might have influenced 80's action movies.
@@JasonBrant Hip firing was part of the training. How much it really influenced movies would be part of further research. Hip firing is done in movies because most actors and action stars suck at using guns, plus hip firing means their faces are visible, the most important factor of all. Its why heroes never wear helmets or keep taking them off after a few minutes (see also superheroes who keep taking off their masks in the middle of fights).
