I wish power companies would just bury power lines. The only reason they don't is cost. But if you take the repair and maintenance bills from when the power lines were first installed, i bet the costs would be similar. And ya know. Underground power lines would be a great utility for places prone to intense storms seasonally.
best not to have trees near power lines, overturned trees rip up buried cables too leaving an unseen risk of electrocution of anyone close to the tree or sometimes hundreds of feet from the tree
I have been saying that for years! If they would just do regular maintenance on these tree limbs and shit would make a big difference. I'm up in Slater Marietta and there has been more progress made from The Men Who live here then the power company employees. And you know our bill is fixing to go up again
I live up in Slater-Marietta. I wish they would let some of our men up here help clear these trees n shit. Most up to the plate immediately, including my husband. Times like this is when a community comes together and shines. God bless those in need n the families of those that we've lost. God's got us, we got this.
My sister in Spartanburg said her and her neighbors have been getting together to cook food on an outside charcoal grill weather permitting. However, they don't know how long they can do that as there's no refrigeration and what food they have will be spoiling quickly.
Wow, the numbers today on that map are the exact same numbers that were on there yesterday. Haven't seen any crews working anywhere. And the guy from Duke said 90% of us would have power by Friday at 6pm? We'll see. Meanwhile they Need to get the traffic lights at Main Intersections on first. It is extremely dangerous trying to get through them. Forget about the parks and get to the people's homes second.
