    She was born Harlene Harlow Carpenter on March 3,1911,in Kansas City,Missouri.Her father was Mont Clair Carpenter,a dentist, and her mother was Jean Poe Harlow.Young Harlow attended Miss Barston's Finishing School For Girls.After her parent's divorce,Harlow's mother moved to Hollywood,California,in 1923,where young Jean attended Hollywood School For Girls.Harlow and her mother later moved back to Lake Forest,Illinois,where young Jean attended Feny Hall School.In 1927,Jean Harlow married Charles McGrew III,hier to a large fortune, and later the couple moved to Beverly Hills,California.In 1928,while driving a friend to Fox Studios,Harlow,on a bet, signed with Central Casting,and appeared in her first film,"Honor Bound".She later signed a five year movie contract with Hal Roach Studios,and appeared in several Laurel and Hardy short films, as well as bit parts in "The Thing Called Love","Close Harmony","The Love Parade",and her first speaking role in "The Saturday Night Kid" with Clara Bow in 1929.Harlow later ended her contract with Hal Roach Studios in 1929,saying her career was destroying her marriage.That same year,Harlow divorced her husband,Charles McGrew III.While filming on location,Jean Harlow was spotted by head cameraman Arthur Landau,who was shooting Howard Hughes' "Hells Angels" in 1929.Landau suggested that be cast as Helen in the film, and Hughes later agreed.The film premiered in 1930 at Graumans Chinese Theater in Hollywood,and stardom finally arrived.In 1932,MGM head Louis B. Mayer bought Harlow's movie contract with Hughes,and signed her to a seven year contract with the studio.Jean Harlow had a tantalizing screen presence with her bright, platinum blonde hair, blue eyes, and an intoxicating figure that mesmerized male movie audiences.Vital stats-Hair blonde,Eyes grey/ blue,Height 5'3 1/2",Weight 109 lbs.,Bust 36",Waist 25",Hips 36".She was the first blonde sex symbol of the sound era of Hollywood.She became famous as "The Blonde Bombshell" and 'The Platinum Blonde".Her hairstyle and dress were copied by thousands of women worldwide.From 1933 onward,Jean Harlow was constantly voted one of the strongest box office draws in the U.S.Tragically,at the hight of her movie career, she was stricken with acute kidney failure, and passed away on June 7,1937,at the young age of 26.Notable films include "Hells Angels"(1930),"Public Enemy"(1931),"Platinum Blonde"(1931),"Red Dust"(1932),"Bombshell"(1933),"The Girl From Missouri"(1934),"China Seas"(1935),"Wife vs Secretary"(1936),"Riffraff"(1936),"Suzy"(1936),"Libled Lady"(1936),"Personal Property"(1937),"Saratoga"(1937).Jean Harlow wrote a novel titled "Today Is Tonight".One of her famous quotes was,"I was not born an actress.No one knows it better than I.If I had one latent talent,I have had to work hard, listen carefully, do things over and over and then over again in order to bring it out".In 1999,The American Film Institute ranked Jean Harlow #22 on the list of the greatest female stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema.Her schoolmate,Evelyn F.
