The song took off and her family paid for the low budget video as a birthday gift for her. She recorded the video the day after her 14th birthday. Insane! She and Finneas are so talented.

Thing about Watch and Watch&Burn is: They did these two versions and her brother liked the first one better and Billie the version with V. Staples. So finally both landed on the EP.
Bellyache is from the pov of a psychopath that has killed their friends, stolen money, and left their lover in a gutter. They thought they would feel better, but the guilt has given them a bellyache. There are more elaborate explanations out there, but these are the basics.

Alot of the details are actually hazy around the Ocean Eyes backstory, there are whole video essays you can find on RUclips dissecting how she became an industry plant and such. Her parents are also both smaller actors, and video game voice actors, so she already had a link to the entertainment industry. But saying this, I adore this EP and her first album. I don't think it's actually an issue when plants are talented artists, I think they just get a bad rep because there are droves of wonderfully talented UNSIGNED artists out there (but this implies the plant in question is untalented and/or not worthy of success, which, Billie/Finneas definitely deserve their fame!). There are plenty of other strikingly popular artists we've learned not to question that are likely plants, like Katy Perry and her transition from Christian music to her debut album, or Hayley Williams/Paramore. Either way, this is just another reason you should separate the art from the artist!
Finneas had a band since high school, so he new an agent. He's the one that contacted the agent,who brought in another agent, and they have been representing them since right after Ocean Eyes. As for br8ng "plants", there are so many gaiked or sporadically employed actors in LA, like her patents. Dad's day job was as a carpenter for Hasbro toys. Mom homeschooled both Finneas and Billie and taught homeschooling classes in arts and crafts at their home and comedy improv. They almost lost their house due to the financial crash. They just encouraged the kids to be creative .
