I do most of these items and have for years. A couple of other things I do are: make the door code the last four digits of guests phone number, have outdoor shower, gas fire pit on back screen porch, wood burning fire pit down by water, electric fireplace inside, gas & charcoal grills, towels specific for the lake (all white inside but striped cabana style to take on boat), extra easy boat supplies they may need including variety of life jacket sizes, I keep aloe gel in refrigerator JIC but also have large aloe plant, upside down basic condiments, I have cocktail stations set up both inside and outside, outside cocktail station has high end nonbreakable glassware, YES blackout drapes but I also paint my bedrooms very dark colors to make cozy & have less reflection making sleep easier, disposable satin sleep masks, both satin & matching white cotton pillowcases, I use clear labels with small black print so it doesn’t take away from the esthetic, love idea of record player but I use Bose revolve, also in the back my welcome book I have a separate section of paint colors & links to items I purchased online (people have purchased the makeup cloths from my Amazon affiliate link), I know it’s controversial but I leave a variety of candles instead of the incense because people can have allergies (I’ve found that just a good clean fresh smell is best upon arrival), cute dishwashing gloves, fire extinguisher both inside & by grills), snuggly blankets, Xbox console with rechargeable controllers that sit on countertop, outdoor games (football, soccer ball, horseshoes, baggo, scheduled yard service late morning (never early morning & never during peak afternoon time, let guests know what day & name of service provider, never had a single complaint), designated parking spaces so guests don’t park on grass, a few tide pods (not entire bucket), steamer instead of iron, hairdryer in each bathroom, candles in bathrooms, plunger in each bathroom, flower vase under sink & depending on turn time there’s usually a small bloom in each bathroom & in kitchen, wireless printer because my husband after needs one for work, fresh herb garden outside by outdoor kitchen, dimmer switches, small lamp/phone holder with plug in every bunk, a bunk room ( I try to design every house to be multigenerational but one room to accommodate several younger people). Wow…. I didn’t mean that to be so long. Great video, good luck with Peach Casita! Oh one word of caution, I used to keep the journal in mine as well and never had trouble but I removed it after a friend had a bad experience. Their renter never called to report any issue but wrote a comment about the AC unit. The owner did not know to have it serviced until it ran so long that they ended up having to replace instead of minor repair. There was not another booking immediately following that stay so she allowed cleaning crew to work elsewhere. It was bad. Heard other horror stories too about bad reviews left in the book that could have been avoided had renter called owner. Renter used it as justification to get full refund. 😮
We've been doing Airbnb for five years and the expense is in replacing towels and linens because people will even bleed on the sheets, if they have a scrape or the kids take chocolate to bed, so I protect my pillows and always clean every sheet, but it's a regular thing. I guess because I have a rule of white sheets and towels I think clients need to see if these things are nasty or clean. I hate to go to a rental and see brown towels or dark sheets that only means they're hiding stains. But it's a lot of work and you can't splurge in giving people all this nice stuff, we give them cleanliness and the necessities, like air/heat fridge stove to have a nice quiet rest and stay, the rest is up to them. But we stopped giving perks like special soaps and things they usually bring their own if they want something expensive we give a decent soap and bathroom tissue that's nice. That's it wifi, Netflix that too. It's expensive guys!!😂
I have been doing airbnb in dubai for a while we hire linen from our cleaning company. We always have fresh clean white linen whenever we have a check in. The also provide an extra set everytime they clean! It has saved as a tone of money.
Airbnb is the best way to travel if u have 5-10 people vacationing . You have so much more space, cooking facilities,free parking, a yard & place where u can all sit together. I am always booking Airbnb whenever I travel with a larger group.

Agreed. I went to a friends BnB. She had labels all over. We keep our rental super simple. If you cant figure out all the switches soon after access, it’s too complicated. Nothing more frustrating than it taking 4 days just to figure out the electrical. I get points for cleanliness, decor and organization. I just started supplying some little snacks for when guests arrive. Cheese and crackers, granola or Cliff bars and mints. I was going to leave a couple pizzas instead but o g, vegetarian, vegan, carnivore….uh just no to that. I put soap in the bathroom, basic first aid supplies (of course white towels) and just scored some clearance organic cotton Tampons which I am going to test the waters with. Many of our guests have 3-4 hour drives so having water(we have a Berkey) and snacks seems logical even if it’s just for the kiddos. The simpler the better!
Thank you for all the amazing ideas! I have one concern, many people have allergies to air fresheners. Twice I have arrived at an Airbnb only to become so sick that we had to flee and find a hotel room. (Not fun at a 12:00 am arrival with children). Fortunately, both of those times the hosts were gracious and gave us a full refund. My grandson has cancer and his oncologist have told us that no one should ever go near those air fresheners. I’m planning to create an allergy free Airbnb and I will advertise that. That’s what I always look for when I’m travelling and there is a shortage of those.
I leave two sizes of rechargeables and the charger. I also have USB wall charging jacks and a C and USB charger in one of the bedrooms that is part of a 6 outlet electrical surge strip.

I would be afraid the guest would take big bottle of bathroom supplies. Why not use throw away makeup remover? We have 4 solar sensor lights on patio. We have wifi pin code door lock that you can program the guest with their own pin. Its run from a app.
As a super host of a private room (what airbnb originally was for), I make sure there are zero smells (nice or otherwise) as alot of people have sensitivities and allergies. To other hosts, just because one host offers hotel service, does not mean you do. I've been very successful without pandering to "trends" and peer pressure. We cannot all cater for other people's stupidity. Guests - byo self care products , byo umbrellas, byo underwear, byo "wellness" junk... my home is a place e for you to SLEEP in relative comfort only, not linger and make demands on my life. You would NOT demand feminine hygiene products from a hotel... do not do it just because this vocal fry woman says she offers it
Where things are getting further and further from the original idea of the french gîte (yes ... the concept is french and dates back from 1946 as my grandmother was one of the conceptors !), i.e. bring or buy your own shampoo and toothbrush as they are personal items ! When renting a holiday house you are not renting a palace suite but a house where you will spend just a few days and where you will find all you need for those few days, not what you think you will need (if need be, you can always buy it yourselves and then get to bring it back home with you)! Too much is too much !!! Furthermore, a sizable amount of guests won't respect their surroundings and won't even take good care of them and leave them in poor conditions or "carelessly" pack what they want in their suitcase! Not all guests, for sure, but it happens more and more especially with AirBnB customers ; this is why in France more and more of the top renting accomodations are leaving that platform to go to new, cheaper and more serious ones ! AirBnB is not a reference anymore !!!
Gone are the days where a host in the United States would just provide a basic bed and kitchen appliances and a basic living room. Americans want more, and if you don’t have it then they will complain. In the United States it’s never too much, it’s always not enough. Americans want to be treated like they’re going to their second homes, is it expensive? Absolutely, but that’s why host make $20,000 a month and sometimes more (not every host just the smart ones). It’s definitely not the same in France
Stolen item costs can be recovered through Airbnb's Resolution Center. We photo document each listing before guest arrival and again after if there is damage including linen damage, theft, etc. We're blessed to have great guests overall with only two LED light bulbs stolen, and a few towels permanently stained.
Less trouble but more like a hotel experience instead of a home experience with things like privacy, ability to cook to save money, private hot tubs, etc.. I’d still rather stay in a home over a hotel any day. I’ve never had a bad Airbnb experience. Hotel rooms are restrictive in so many ways.
I clean at a hotel that has Airbnb mixed in. Housekeeper are only given 40-45 min. 7- 8 rooms. I have 2 to three 1 1/2 to 2 hours to clean. See which one has more attention to cleanliness and detail! Opened my eyes!

Zipped pillow protectors on all pillows. Sippy cups & a few bibs, highchair, a couple bottles, a cozy stuffed animal, baby monitor
