the fluid animation and stylistic choices youve made in this episode are like none other, the way melvins face deforms while he gets the earwax out with a Q tip, the way the hair stands on the back of his head and moves up as the monster talks in his head, truly, truly amazing man.

I think Melvin lucked out. Not only did he get rid of the parasite in his ear, but his earwax is cured. He also found out that the girl he liked was horrible and she took his parasite away so it wont bother him anymore. Melvin got his happily ever after as far as MeatCanyon videos go.

@@jasenwilliams-zn9fzNo it wouldn't have it would have died, all it wanted was to live in his ear and listen to the music Melvin already wanted to listen to, it wasn't hurting anyone(doctor doesn't count, he just had a weak will). The parasite was throwing up the wax probably because it was sick, it is wasn't being malicious it just wasn't feeling well and would have stopped once it was feeling better. Then Melvin started bullying it which was completely uncalled for, and after seeing Melvin's true colors Angela decided to go with the parasite instead because she had compassion and wasn't a psychopath. You're saying she's crazy for being an empathetic person that couldn't stand by and watch the innocent be bullied so mercilessly? If anyone was crazy it was Melvin.
How so? There are far more unaesthetic people than there are aesthetic aren't there? So she's much less normal than most of the characters he draws. His drawings are based on reality and represent average people that you see in day to day life, they aren't stylized like in anime or most mainstream movies/TV shows.
@@stellarhades9517 For the most part I only really smoke Fentanyl and Meth now, I don't mind smoking weed but I haven't in years and I much prefer to eat edibles instead. DMT and SaIvia are both cool to smoke on occasion but I haven't come across either of them in forever. I gave cigarettes multiple chances a long time ago because people kept trying to get me to smoke them and would give me theirs to smoke, I refused to ever pay for them because I never felt a desire to smoke them and never smoked another one after I stopped hanging around those people. There was nothing enjoyable about smoking them, I've never been able to understand why people waste their money on them when all they do is deteriorate your body as well as your surroundings while also greatly increasing the chances that you'll die a slow horrific death, losing control of your bodily functions until all you can do is sit there in excruciating pain wishing for death to hurry up as others are keeping you alive. To be fair though people do look pretty cool when they smoke them.

I like how, initially, Melvin's anger is hinted at being caused by the Earwax worm thingy, but by the end, it is revealed to just be Melvin's true nature when he is stressed out. My expectations have been subverted.
I think it might be the other way around. Looking at the eyes and the effect that was on the doctor, Melvin’s angry eyes match the red eye effect just as well. Perhaps after hearing Melvin self deprecate so much, the worm picked up on it and well, did what Melvin would do when stressed. Melvin had more influence on the worm than they had on him.
What, just because its this little wriggling voice in your head telling you to listen to your favorite songs over and over until it drives you mad, you think it's a- oooohhhh.
For a virtuoso of flesh to plumb the recesses of deepest darkness they must know basic human anatomy. The fundamentals are important for any aspiring artist
What I love is how the parasite literally made a guy kill himself, but then the second he is physically overpowered by Melvin it goes right into gaslighting and acting pathetic. Glad everyone else realized that he managed to both ditch the parasite and escape getting into a relationship with someone who falls for that.
Maybe it saw something in Melvin that it didn't want to kill? Valued him somehow, or saw that he was a genuine threat that wouldn't be easily coaxed into suicide after he removed it.

Seeing Angela as a genuinely designed and drawn character with zero gross out qualities put me more on edge than the copious amounts of wax Melvin was throwing at me

I like the concept of Melvins's personalities: one which he is usually calmer yet anxious and shy, the other one being extremely aggressive and hateful towards himself and other beings.
I’m sure it’s been said before, but it’s fuckin’ incredible what you’ve done with your channel. You blew up doing unique parodies of things and then gradually parlayed that into doing original horror content of your own, and making that transition successfully is genuinely so cool

Melvin's anger outbursts hit a little close to home. Especially when you try so hard to not mess things up but do anyways and get so angry with yourself you lose yourself as well.
As a cuckold I found the part when Melvin lost his girl to some big and long phallic object close to my heart and soul. I will even forgive that it was not black.
As a person that's always late, I can relate to how Melvin reacts subtly shocked by the sight of the doctor hanging from a rope, then instantly frightened to deformation when he see's he might be late!
When I saw her "live, laugh, love" doormat, I was worried for Melvin. My suspicions were correct. Also that was the most accurate representation of negative inner self talk I've ever seen. Felt like I was looking in the mirror for a moment. Looking forward to more Melvin!
I think this is a good point of how, even if some people seem healthy, they aren’t, and they grow attachments to people who are horrible and just use them like a parasite. You’re alone, but you’re not stuck with said parasite.
This feels like an actual metaphor... When you finally realize what's wrong in your life and try to get rid of it (like a toxic job or a toxic relationship), some people will just shame you for doing it, because you thought you were the weird one but they're even more fucked up
Fr though. I had someone in my life that kept pestering me to go vegan even though I said no. When I set up my boundaries for him to stop due to my strict diet my surgeon gave me, they got a bit upset. Then it all went downhill. Thankfully I got rid of them last year because my god.

I'm vegan myself and I think it's a great decision for most people, but yeah pressuring is never good. Just remember that not all vegans are like that (but I mean most people probably know that). Ideology just pushes people to go to extremes. Salads are absolutely great... with great steak or sausages. Going vegan for sake of "animal cruelty" have no idea how to raise or take care of animals, nor backbone to put them down before disease or age takes them, wasting the good meat. My family grows all kind of animals, most are for food, but we take care of them until old age and then do our best to put them down with out knowing what hit them ie painless death and then try to use every bit of them, so nothing goes to waste. Factory farming, sure i agree there is glaring issues with that, but laws are built to support them, not small farms where animals are individuals not just numbers. In the end its your choice what to eat, but long as you dont come to tell me i cant eat something or i have to eat this we are cool with it, its the vegan cultists that are the issue, like feeding full vegan diet to say dogs or cats that cannot eat it.
I feel like you’re right about the metaphor, but to add to what you said I feel like it’s about when you go about it in a way that the toxic party perceives it as, and then they tell their side of the story and manipulate people to listen to them rather than get both sides. Because toxic people often are manipulative people, and like how the worm monster plows it’s way into the other persons head in the end, toxic people can do the same with their manipulative tactics to get anyone on their side.
Can't wait for more Melvin content! Meatcanyon has this unique ability to give three dimensions to all of his characters, even his silly ones and its great to see him making his own stuff, love it!
@@a12fe154 To be fair we don’t know if the worm is the source of his misery, since he seems to be bitter, hateful, and anxious even by himself. Personally if this worm has been around for a long time I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason it told the doctor to kill himself was influenced by Melvin somewhat since they’ve been around them for so long. Living in the head (quite literally) of somebody like that is bound to make you nasty yourself. There also seems to be ties between the eye effect that flashed when the doctor was being effected and the eyes Melvin gets when he snaps, so who knows?

The thing about Angela is that she looks so artificial. Compared to everyone else she just looks too perfect to be human. Almost like she was created to torture Melvin's mentality.
A both metaphorical & literal earworm was stopping him from getting a relationship going. So when he introduced the music to Angela, she then was the host for the earworm. Very clever writing.

The small Junji Ito inspired designs and features crossed with Hunters own iconic brand of animation really come together to make something very unique here. It's got western gross out horror from the garbage pale kid stuff in the 80's and 90's but also a deeper message and some horrifying creature designs like a horror anime. Great Toon. Can't wait to see more.
I really don't see Junji here, don't get me wrong we all know Meatcanyon can ace that style, but straight up, Melvin looks so much more like Hideshi Hino's bug boy and that's pretty rad.
It looks like Jamie R's work. He popped up recently in the credits for one. Not sure how long he's been working on meat canyon stuff, but he's definitely worth checking out.
adding jamie r. to the animation team was an absolutely amazing call, his style just meshes so well with the meativerse. love seeing him go ham with melivin in this one.
Most of the animations here aren't done by MC tho. I can recognize the horrific smoothness of Jaime R's style. The credits in the description confirmed it. I don't know the other animators though but the recent videos are definitely collabs.
Has anyone noticed over time how Meatcanyon's videos have had noticeably more emotional and personal undertones in them?? They're still fucking hilarious as always but they make me actually stop and think for a few minutes too.

The first freak out where it changes animation styles really encapsulates what it's like to struggle with anxiety about things that you can't control about yourself. Its a really relatable horror to see yourself in the mirror and feel like you're looking at a disgusting monster. Also Anthony Fantano at the beginning was on point.

Theres so much going on here, with the body horror, the dark psychological elements, to the weird codependency the monster has with Melvin and later the woman. This is very well done and reminds me of dissolving classroom or some of Itos more experimental works. Keep it up!
it wasnt a codependency, melvin didnt want or need it, it was a parasitic relationship, codependency means they each provide something the other craves, the relationship between the parasite and angela would be codependency but it was a one sided parasitic relationship between it and melvin.

Seriously. Ever since I first saw Jamie R's animations ive been like "I want more" and then here we are meat canyon regularly having him on to animate.
This is why I love this channel it's so weird and cool and they're animations are so amazing and they take so much time probably and I love how it's kind of like amazing gumball they like stick to one styled of animation but then sometimes they just go all out and just start going with different styles of animation or different art styles it's so cool

I think this is a good point of how, even if some people seem healthy, they aren’t, and they grow attachments to people who are horrible and just use them like a parasite. You’re alone, but you’re not stuck with said parasite.

This feels like an actual metaphor... When you finally realize what's wrong in your life and try to get rid of it (like a toxic job or a toxic relationship), some people will just shame you for doing it, because you thought you were the weird one but they're even more fucked up
Fr though. I had someone in my life that kept pestering me to go vegan even though I said no. When I set up my boundaries for him to stop due to my strict diet my surgeon gave me, they got a bit upset. Then it all went downhill. Thankfully I got rid of them last year because my god.

Ideology just pushes people to go to extremes. Salads are absolutely great... with great steak or sausages. Going vegan for sake of "animal cruelty" have no idea how to raise or take care of animals, nor backbone to put them down before disease or age takes them, wasting the good meat. My family grows all kind of animals, most are for food, but we take care of them until old age and then do our best to put them down with out knowing what hit them ie painless death and then try to use every bit of them, so nothing goes to waste. Factory farming, sure i agree there is glaring issues with that, but laws are built to support them, not small farms where animals are individuals not just numbers. In the end its your choice what to eat, but long as you dont come to tell me i cant eat something or i have to eat this we are cool with it, its the vegan cultists that are the issue, like feeding full vegan diet to say dogs or cats that cannot eat it.
I feel like you’re right about the metaphor, but to add to what you said I feel like it’s about when you go about it in a way that the toxic party perceives it as, and then they tell their side of the story and manipulate people to listen to them rather than get both sides. Because toxic people often are manipulative people, and like how the worm monster plows it’s way into the other persons head in the end, toxic people can do the same with their manipulative tactics to get anyone on their side.

Personally if this worm has been around for a long time I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason it told the doctor to kill himself was influenced by Melvin somewhat since they’ve been around them for so long. Living in the head (quite literally) of somebody like that is bound to make you nasty yourself. There also seems to be ties between the eye effect that flashed when the doctor was being effected and the eyes Melvin gets when he snaps, so who knows?

The small Junji Ito inspired designs and features crossed with Hunters own iconic brand of animation really come together to make something very unique here. It's got western gross out horror from the garbage pale kid stuff in the 80's and 90's but also a deeper message and some horrifying creature designs like a horror anime. Great Toon. Can't wait to see more.

The first freak out where it changes animation styles really encapsulates what it's like to struggle with anxiety about things that you can't control about yourself. Its a really relatable horror to see yourself in the mirror and feel like you're looking at a disgusting monster.

Theres so much going on here, with the body horror, the dark psychological elements, to the weird codependency the monster has with Melvin and later the woman.
This is very well done and reminds me of dissolving classroom or some of Itos more experimental works. Keep it up!
it wasnt a codependency, melvin didnt want or need it, it was a parasitic relationship, codependency means they each provide something the other craves, the relationship between the parasite and angela would be codependency but it was a one sided parasitic relationship between it and melvin.
