Vadim M I have the Vice City GameInformer I got as a kid. There’s a quote in it that reads “Unlike GTA 3 all of Vice City’s map is open from the beginning” I was so disappointed when I actually played for the first time to find out that it isn’t.
I never really liked the art characters for GTA 3, xcept say Joey and 8 Ball who actually look accurate, Misty and Asuka look better but everyone else looks ugly and nothing like they do in game, mostly Salvatore, Luigi, and Phil Cassidy
The toys were never real. The OPS Magazine and OPS2 Magazine used to use very dry humour in their captions, sadly this is lost on a North American audience!
I remember a review for Soldier of Fortune with a load of blood-soaked bodies and the caption "rumours of a Disney movie based on this game are probably untrue".
Callahan Bridge (which connects Portland and Staton) which gets blown away in the beginning was suppose to be broken throughout the whole game. Because it will take a long time to repair the bridge and because of that maybe they had plans to include fairy travel. But it was cut and weirdly after we unlock the 2nd island the bridge gets repaired.
That thing about the clock was a little nit-picky. The quote said that an in game day will pass in ABOUT 30 minutes, he never said it was specifically 30 minutes. If you just round up the 24 minutes to the next highest ten, it is 30. Just a little thing that bothered me...
"DMA came to an end in 2001. Many of the staff, though not Dave Jones, went on to be Rockstar North, providing a continuity of sorts. With this came a relocation from Dundee to Edinburgh. But for the original DMA, the real DMA, the story was over." "Following the acquisition, it was announced that DMA Design would continue developing Grand Theft Auto titles, including GTA3D and Grand Theft Auto Online: Crime World; the former was later renamed Grand Theft Auto III, while the latter was cancelled.[32] The company received various staffing changes following the acquisition: Jones left the company and founded Realtime Worlds,[33] while DMA Design was headed by Leslie Benzies and Andrew Semple, among others.[34] The studio had about 25 employees at the time of the changeover.[35] Under new management from Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, DMA Design developed Grand Theft Auto III, which was released for PlayStation 2 in October 2001.[31] In March 2002, DMA Design became Rockstar Studios, being integrated into Rockstar Games,[34] and renamed to Rockstar North in May 2002.[36]"
GTA III is my most favorite game ever! I love reading things about beta of it, and other GTA games. :) This is very good channel, keep up the great work. :)
you were right about cut scene sketches they are called storyboards, they are used for the early stages on production of animation and its used for cut scenes for games.
Thank you so much by adding subtitles to your videos! Even though I speak english I don't dominate it orally. Now that there is a text transcription I can understand everything you talk about without missing a line. Thank you!
I remember having an issue of GamesMaster magazine about a month before GTA 3 released. I read and re-read its GTA 3 article over and over, soaking in every screen shot. It mentioned things like different peds in different areas and at different times of day. It also mentioned shooting someone in the leg, who then hoped around on one leg and was run over by an ambulance coming to help. Obviously this was taken from an early build, before the limb removal was locked behind a cheat code. And I've never seen an ambulance turn up that quickly in a GTA game.
I remember hearing a rumor about those cutscene sketches that GTAIII was going to have a comicbook style to the cutscenes, simular to how the cutscenes look in Max Payne.
I was 9yo when it released on pc, i'm pretty certain i played it a year later in 2003, it was the first time i played a gta game and instanstly became my favorite franchise. gta 3 along with vice city was my childhood
Jesus, It's still worth pointing out, it could of easily been different before the final release. If you're saying that it wasn't just because of one word then you're the one reading too much into it
I started with GTA 1 as a kid but GTA III will always be special for me because it was my first proper introduction to the 3D Universe apart from maybe Quake 1.
4:18 - I think it's main road near Staunton PD, as could be seen in E3 trailer on the first seconds, as it's only place that so much similar and was shown in similar time
Really interesting stuff! I was actually just wondering recently (yesterday?) about their idea of multiplayer back then (that's covered in one of your older videos).
The video would've derailed pretty quickly if he had to stop and cover other slightly related points each time. Either case, you're at least assured that he'll get to these points eventually.
Shoreside Vale sucked, almost nothing like suburbia. Oh well, I guess then you can imagine the houses are behind the tunnels. 4:20 That's in Chinatown with the oriental factory. It's the bit with those interactive fences. I think anyway, looks like it. I think there aren't dogs because they just couldn't be bothered to get them right, so scrapped them. The Yakuza in the two games are different, taking place in two different cities and all. I know Claude appears in both games though (granted as two alternate universe/reality versions of him.)
The Zaibatsu were the Italian mob in GTA2,. Everything mentioned about them indicated such, especially the commercial on one of the radio stations for the fictional restaurant Pizza Cake.
I had kept stacks of those magazines from about 96-2005 for years but eventually sent them all to the rubbish when I moved. I've regretted it ever since
GTA vc - Analysing the First Ever Preview - Feat. SpooferJahk [Commentaries][Beta Analysis]can you make a video about gta vice city thanks nice video mate
8:36 seriously, that's just nitpicking at this point. 24 minutes is well within the realm of "about 30 minutes". Obviously they didn't say the exact number to make the article flow better. They didn't say "exactly 30 minutes" they said "about 30 minutes".
You are overly pragmatic to the detriment of your videos. For example, the quote "The range of GTA childrens toys never made it to the shops" is obviously satirical.
Don't see a problem here. People, who watched the early pre-release video didn't say anything against it so it stayed as it is. Fun fact, I saw a picture with one developer who wore a South Park t-shirt in those years. I guess, one of them is a true fun of this show.
I think the image at the bottom at 4:57 could have been a Mafia memeber or luigi since it looks like there is a thing that looks like a billboard in the background
There was a very old video with real cars in gta3. a video showing a viper and a Diablo driving, the video was on RUclips back in 2008 but I haven't scene it since. Might be deleted.

Still. it's not too far off. I personally would've said half an hour, too
Yeah, I mean, mathematically speaking, it makes sense to say 20, but I think it's a little exaggerative to say they lied when they said that...
Why everyone goes nuts with these 24 minutes?
Well, you said they outright lied because of that, and that's a little bit of an exaggeration...
Regardless, love your videos, Vladim.
rounding 24 minutes to the nearest ten is 20 though…
The way you said Edinburgh, it triggered me...

"From the developers lair in England" - They developed it mainly in Edinburgh, Scotland. Nothing in England as far as I know.
And also a typical person thinking stereotypes truly exist.
Was actually developed in dundee, moved to Edinburgh after 3
@@iansandwell4717 Yeah you're quite right, I thought they moved after GTA 2

couldn't the 30 minutes just be an estimate? that's why they said "about 30 minutes" and 24 mins is pretty close to 30 mins.
