In a perfect world Tom or Ob would be able to engage with everyone in the comment section, but alas the world is far from perfect. Tom doesn't know how (and refuses to learn) and Ob is something of a Luddite.

Q: I have a burning question about something in the video! What should I do?!
A: An email sent directly to Tom is the best way to get your question answered, because while he most definitely reads each and every one of your comments, he hasn't quite gotten the hang of replying to them in the comment section, and is not likely to in the foreseeable future. Or ever. Seriously, he still calls RUclips "the U-TOOBZ".

I always enjoy your content, Mr. Wittman and Hob. Secondly, I'd like to mention how much I enjoyed hearing you mention my comment regarding the "lovely" city of Stockton, CA. It literally made my day, and Hob, I'm a guy. I'm a Marine Military Police vet, and love when I see police bayos and swords, but my favorite are the gorgets. Mr. Wittmann, I just want to thank you for these videos. You and Obb always bring me a smile and chuckle. I'm new to the hobby, and though you may feel like you are just sipping and shooting the breeze, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I have learned so much with every new unboxing. Plus I've saved tons of money--- it's all the fun of opening and admiring a new piece but much easier on the pocketbook! Anyhow, I hope you will continue these. They are a real treat (and also feels like a visit back home for me since I grew up in the Philly area). Keep up the great "work" 😅

"Stabs Masch" means "Stabs-Maschinist", which is a high-ranking Kriegsmarine NCO, Maschinist = Feldwebel, Ober Maschinist = Ober Feldwebel, Stabs Maschinist = Stabs Feldwebel...by the way you guys are supposed to know this after having spent ages on these subject-matters, sometimes listening to you really is a.....and so forth....😂

Yes, history explained, when an order was issued by A.H. the people responded Immediately, didn't they, a first for the D.T.C. crew, they drained the (wine) vessel on todays episode, mind you they had help, Nice to meet Johnny, I got the impression that he is a finder or partner of some sort in Europe, see people, tom is an old softie and not an old bitter curmudgeon that some make him out to be, such a heart felt and meaningful letter that he read today, great episode, nice banners/flags and accruements today thanks.

I think every so often if you get a low end starter piece, perhaps real damaged or worn, you have a give away to young collectors only. The hobby can only continue if young people have the interest in German militaria. Start with lower end tinnies, belt buckles in poor condition. We all started that way.
I’d love to do this, and not necessarily with an inexpensive piece. Great idea.
The only barrier I see are the legions of greedy, grasping bottom feeders that will lie about their age.

Stab means staff ( depending on context either a Stick or Military/ Company headquarter personal), the s added to Stab ( Stabs....) schows in german language ,beloning to the staff'. So the ,masch ' seems to be an , Abkürzung ' ( shortening?) of at least two words. By logic this words have something to do with the Navy , when this is a Navy dager. The ,sch' could be possibly, Schule ' school, but ,ma' i have no idea.

Is there any rhyme or reason whether the swaz on a flag is turned at an angle or straight up-down??
I have wondered that as well. You see them in several different orientations.
From what I've read and seen on video, the early ones were straight and they wanted a more progressive look, so they gave it a 1/4 turn on all of them going forward. I don't recall what year they did this.
