Took this exact route with the same instructor and passed. Only got deducted points for speeding. They'll have you park and reverse in the area shown in the video. HOWEVER is there are cars parked there they will have you park by houses shown around the 9:00 mark in the video. 3:27-5:30 is a 40 MPH zone. 5:45-7:38 is a 35 MPH zone. 7:40-10:00 is a 25 MPH zone. 10:01-11:08 is once again a 35 MPH. And the rest of the exam is 40 MPH. Hope this helps some of you!
You just saved me I was trying to see what the speed limits are for the streets ! I have my test tomorrow at 11 am I’m so nervous 😬 🥹 but you just helped me with the speed limits thank you so much 🙏
I didn’t take this route, but regardless, it’s still a good example of what to expect or to know the area. For those nervous for the behind the wheel portion, just breathe and relax. Apply everything you learned, follow all directions, and most of all: stay safe. You got this. When I got the to the DMV, I went to the drivers appointment line (make an appointment online for behind the wheel, it saves so much time and energy) and I got sent to Window 29. There, they needed vehicle insurance, registration of the car, and your permit. After, they printed out the behind the wheel testing sheet, and waited for like half an hour. They told me to go wait in the car line for the examiner to come out. I waited an additional fifteen to twenty minutes to take the test. The examiner came out and he asked for all control of the car, like defroster and headlights. He then told me to make a right turn out of the parking lot, had me do some lane changes, some left and right turns, and had me back up in a straight line (which wasn’t even much, nor was it really straight, more like crooked.) But I never once looked at the score sheet, I made sure to follow all directions asked, executed all techniques and training methods that I learned, and that is what helped me pass the behind the wheel test.
UPDATED ROUTE #2: basically the same path but you turn right on Park Court PL before the intersection stop on Cabrillo. You continue the curved path and the parallel parking/backing portion of the test will happen on Marbury(after the curved road). You will then turn on the right on Fruit street and then a right on Cabrillo. Then just back to the DMV. Hope this helps, it was so easy I passed on the first try.
Santa Ana is a very laidback DMV in Orange County. They don't do shortcuts, but they treat the drivers during their BTW test with respect and dignity. I guess that's why they have a high pass rate compared to the rest of the DMVs in OC. If you're looking to do your BTW test (and hopefully pass on the first take), go to Santa Ana DMV.
This video helped me out the most compared to the other Santa Ana DMV videos because of the actual audio. I don’t remember my examiner’s name but he had glasses and was probably in his late 20s or early 30s. He was serious but also laid back, almost bored out of his mind. Like if I caught him during his lunch break. 😂 But he had me do many turns around the park area which caught me off guard. It was extremely nerve wracking, especially since I was doing it in a car I wasn’t 100% used to yet but I passed! :)
This video maybe a bit old but this helps me out a lot, I have my BTW test in the morning and seeing this route knowing that I’ve gone down it before helps calm me down a bit. Seeing the turns and passing through the intersection during a yellow light does bring up a question for me personally as I heard that the DMV sees yellow and red lights as the same and in some cases can count against me as a critical error and an instant fail. If anyone sees this care to shed some light on the matter? Id rather be safe than sorry when it comes to yellows.
It's an alternate to the route I had, but same exact area. The only points I got deducted was for not FULLY stopping at the stops. I gave it a second at most, be safe and just count to 3 so they see its a FULL stop.
Passed yesterday, the route was a little different because they closed the street (under construction) that is to the right when leaving the parking lot. Instead you will turn left right after the vehicle inspection.
i pray to anyone doing the santa ana dmv road test that you don't get that lady at 1:54 as your evaluator. i had her as my evaluator yesterday and she was insulting me the entire test and was very rude. all the other evaluators are pretty chill though. my route was also a bit different from the one in the video. instead of turning right into 1st st I had to turn right into 2nd st
I had her today and as soon as I parked she began to lecture me. She said if it was up to her, she’d fail me. For whatever reason, she got super super upset about how close I was sitting to the wheel and said I’d get paralyzed if I got into a crash. She then went on a rant about how I wasn’t ready and that I’d kill people if I didn’t look before crossing an intersection on green. But yk what, fuck her, I passed. I remember seeing ur comment but not looking at the lady in the video, so when I came back home I looked back at it and woah, it was her.
I had her today and she failed me and insulted me. I got unlucky because all the other examiners looked chill and she arrived to work just when it was my turn.
Update: I took the test for a second time at 8 am on a Friday and passed with only 4 errores. My tip is to take it on a Friday before 10 am because that’s when the lady arrives.
@@bhushanbhor Sadly no because a fire truck popped out of nowhere and i didnt pull up to the side. My next test will be on november 9 and hopefully i pass because i really need my license
Here I am watching more videos hoping I pass 😭 I failed my second test for stopping on a green light while making a right turn. Though I stopped because I saw a pedestrian wanting to cross the street 😢😢😢😢😢 but thats what made me fail as a critical error.

Just passed my test and yes the route is similar except I was told to make a left turn on N Golden Cir Dr and a right turn to cabrillo park from 4th street, they still ask you to pull over to the curb and reverse. Good luck everyone.
I’m taking my test on a lowered truck what do you guys think? we’ll they not let me do it drives normal but a bit bumpy. Edits: Never mind I passed it yesterday on 2/22/22 the examiner was chill he didn’t say nothing about the truck being bumpy yes I did it on my lowered truck. 😄😀
No parallel park during this. If you go to 07:55 in this video, you'll see they they make you pull over and backup following the curb. It's not exactly parallel parking but it's similar
check all mirrors (both side mirrors, rear mirror, and look back) and make sure you have one hand on the wheel and the other extended onto the passenger seat. try to exaggerate a little with the mirror checking(at least that’s what i did)
not sure about the specific rule but just don't hit the curb and you should be fine. also, i don't think you're allowed to use the backup camera so just turn around and look back. good luck
during the pre check when he had asked for your windshield wipers and energy lights did you have to turn them on or just point out where they were? like did you have to use your windshield wipers and turn them on to show where they are or just locating them?
In our case, just pointing to them was enough. Each instructor may be slightly different. To be cautious, I would point and ask if the instructor wants to see them on

On 1:40 when you started moving, their was a stop sign with a cone on your left, you could’ve just kept on going without stopping again?
