I’ve spent a lot of time in the US. From Minnesota to Texas, I’ve met some of the most amazing people ever.
We often drive in France. It feels weird for about 2 minutes, then your brain snaps over.
If two people or are in a queue it's usually Ok for one person to walk away, say you've forgotten something ,and go back to get it ,its perfectly acceptable, enjoy your vlogs❤❤.

I lived in California for a while and I'm married to an American living back in Britain. The only thing that makes me cross is when you guys push in line or jump the queue. We can tell who you are because we can hear you in the crowd 🙂. I've enjoyed all your videos and just glad that you enjoyed your visit and hope that my fellow countrymen were kind and polite to you.

I’ve driven quite a lot in the US too. We once hired a car and went from Kissimmee to Miami Beach and it took ages but was definitely worth it to see the art deco houses etc. We also went from Washington DC to relatives in Virginia and to the outer banks and that was on Labour Day weekend so quite busy. I don’t mind driving on the other side or the traffic etc but I did struggle a bit with the distances, particularly as I’m vegetarian so getting veggie food in the US to avoid driving fatigue was not easy! A Caesar salad and a coke is not really enough to stay fuelled for long interstate driving!
Kissimmee ?!?! You was in our neck of the woods lol yes vegetarian food is easy to get but not off a interstate, and just because the interstate says you are in a town doesn’t mean you are not still a 20 minute drive to the actual town lol.
One observation when driving here in the UK.. when you are changing gear or adjusting the air con etc, you do with your left hand correct? That leaves your right hand controlling the steering correct? 90% of people are right handed so your dominant hand controls the car while the secondary tasks are completed with the left. If someone stepped out on you whilst changing gear for instance and you needed to swerve... which hand would you rather have on the steering wheel at the time??? UK making sense yet again ❤
The eeats are for elderly, disabled or pregnant. Young people may be sitting down because they are disabled.
While pubs close at 11pm, in a city, it's likely that there will be a nearby night club or bar that could be open much later. They generally cater to a different type of clientele, and there may be age limits for entry, unlike pubs, which are generally more casual, and frequently family-oriented.
I’m Australian and driving in America was very disconcerting. We had one near death experience on a country road when we forgot where we were( until we nearly had a head on collision with an on coming car).
You don't need an International Driving License to drive here. You can drive on a foreign Driving License in the UK for one year following the date of your arrival. And, frankly, International Driving Licenses are not really a "Thing" here any more, we haven't recognised them for many, many years. 🙂
As for looking right, the last time I was in London I saw one tourist get walloped by a taxi that he stepped out in front of whilst looking left. Fortunately the taxi was only going at about 5 mph so he was just bruised. When we heard him screaming and cursing it was immediately obvious where he came from. Clue: South of Canada and North of Mexico. 😉
We don't have private beaches in the mainland UK apart from those on which our Ministry of Defence conducts its activities. Which is common sense really. 💥💥💥

I’ve driven in France , Spain,Portugal,Sweden,Denmark as well as the US so no problem.
Literally 35years ago nothing opened on a Sunday, we used to put our roast in the oven, go to church come home eat around the table and then watch a video, only within 25 years have things even started to open on a Sunday...
Life was probably simpler back then, amazing what stuff like that can do for mental health.

We still have Sunday trading hours, mandated by law, which means that most shops can't be open past 5pm, which isn't a bad thing IMHO.
We are a collection of islands with countless regional accents and local dialects. There is no correct way to say anything. 🧐

@@Trippingthroughadventures Generally speaking, as long as you say please, thank you and sorry, and wait in the queue, most people will forgive you anything else. And a lot of British people have bad grammar anyway.
We close on Sundays and generally have an early closing day during the week. People only have so much money to spend. Opening for 1½ extra days just increases staff costs.
Sunday opening is dictated by the square footage of the business floor. Basic is 10am to 4pm. Smaller shops can open earlier and closer later if they wish too.
We always welcome are American friends don't worry to much about rules like these. Just enjoy yourself. Holding door open is something you need to do
I lived in London for 20 years and always walked up and down escalators, because 1) I wanted the exercise, 2) It's QUICKER, obviously. I wanted to get to work on time and to get home as soon as I could. Simple as that. Tourists aren't generally concerned about getting to their destination on time, but the best ones are considerate of the people whose city they are guests in.
As much as one can with a big camera and a bigger dum smile we wanted to blend in, in the sense of not being in the way while we were there lol 😂

Yes we get to experience driving on the right in Europe many many times. Top tip.. Try to get an Automatic, it save the awkwardness of changing gear, allowing you to focus on the road. Good luck guy's
The thing you'll like is that in uk we are , mostly All lefties when it comes to cutlery 🍴😅
We eat from a fork in our left hands,, although to be fair its really that we use our dominant hand to do any carving and sawing with a knife or stirring and munching w a spoon,, but in a main meal scenario we hold our feeding fork in our non dominant hand prong the food cut it, maybe squish some mash on the back or stab a chip then still with the knife in our dominant hand we turn the fork to aeroplane into our pie hole and then chew and swallow,, choosing whether to politely keep our trap shut or to talk w our mouths full , showing the whole world to see, the delicious mincemeat we're making 😂🎉🤔🛩️🐂🥮👄

Not sure that's entirely true! Brits abroad, especially those in Spain, can behave appallingly and very disrespectfully of local laws and customs! Getting drunk and causing trouble in Marbella, Ibiza, etc isn't respecting and obeying laws!

Yep, I got my head ripped off as a young Brit in the early 90's when visiting New York for work, for holding open the door for a female colleague (no idea who she was, it was a huge office building) - fortunately I was so stunned by her verbal abuse that I didn't say anything in response (or I would have been fired).
My boss's recommendation (after he had smoothed things out and said that I would hold door's open for any colleague regardless of their gender - hmm...) was that in future I should let the door slam in colleagues' faces when in the USA...

As a none driver I always walk my visiting American friends round for two day so they can see how we drive before hiring a vehicle for them to drive. Some still make mistakes on the first drive, but they are minor mistakes and not FATAL Mistakes, things like failing to Yield to traffic coming from the right, especially on roundabouts BUT I know these are not common in the USA AND YOU CALL them turning circles. The other major diffenence in the sequence of our Traffic Intersection Lights, our light secquence is Red, Red and Amber then they go out and Green replaces them. DO NOT MOVE the Vehicle until you see the GREEN. Reverse sequence is from Green to Amber then Red. When crossing our roads/street Look LEFT, Right and Left again before crossing. If in DOUBT look down as its often written on the Sidewalk or Road.
Roughly 35% of the world's population drive on the left side of the road. Most of the countries that were former British colonies and/or dominions continued to drive on the left, including India which is.....1.4 billion people!
Countries that drive on the left:
Asia - India, Bangladesh, Brunei, Hong Kong, Bhutan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, East Timor, Japan, and Thailand.
Africa - Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Swaziland, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Mauritius.
Australia and Oceania - Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Pitcairn Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands.

Most Brits can comfortably drive on either the left or right side of the road because of our proximity to continental Europe.
As soon as you get off the Eurostar chunnel train or the cross channel ferry into continental France you can experience driving on the right 👍🏼🚘 its very close!! In the sixties americans used to hitchike all the way to India and i know my mums cousin from Scotland hitched across Europe in the 70s,, not so common or safe nowadays but people still migrate for seasonal work and vacations ofc 😊🎉
The Sunday closing thing has its origins in Christianity. However, today I think Sunday closing mostly still exists for work/life balance. We are actually now quite a non religious country but we are historically less secular than the US so a lot of our laws and traditions have Christian origins. We still often sing Christian hymns in normal, non church related, state/public schools for example.
We figured it was a Christian based thing, we seen England (we are sure that Christianity is still prevalent) not as a religious country as it once was, that threw us off on the cathedrals, it seem like for every 1 person that was their for religious purposes, there were 20 there for historical reasons.
@@Trippingthroughadventuresin 2021 the census reported for the first time more people described themselves as non religious than Christian but, as I say, there’s still a sort of cultural Christianity going on. For example, most here say Merry Christmas or Happy Easter and not Happy Holidays etc. And, as you say, people will support churches just to preserve the buildings etc.
I still hope for a completely secular UK, or at least, _Britain_ in our (near) future.

The advantage of using a knife and fork properly is it allows you to control and combine you food, making the meal more enjoyable plus no-one has to put up with the constant CLANKING noise Americans make by persistently dropping the knife and needlessly swapping hands with the fork only to then needlessly swap back, pick up the discarded knife and repeat the annoying process again CLANK! You guy's are the exception because you have seen the sense, seen the light and are open minded enough and wise enough to entertain a new idea 💡 😉
It's so great you want to learn how you should be behavijg whilst your here, but I can guarantee just when you think you've nailed it, you'll go somewhere else in the country where all the rules are different! You're both polite and thoughtful, so as long as you bring that attitude, and your manners, you'll be fine! I'm sure there are things that I might do in the US that would wind up the locals - either that, or always be stuck at the back of the line!

After 11pm if you still wanna drink alcohol, You then move onto nightclubs instead. All these things also apply in other parts of the UK like Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland too and not just in England. Its a lie we brits don't love queing its just something we have to do when in a store or any where you have to queue for something.🏴
I didn't have a great deal of a problem driving in the US. The only time I did was when exiting the Washington Redskins training ground in Ashburn. The gate that was open went straight onto the incoming lane. I had to drive against traffic, if there was any to the next junction. Not very far.
Sunday everyone is not in church. It Sunday opening hours. It in law Sunday hours are 10am to 4pm but small shops can open more normal hours same for pubs
I totally agree about escalators, if you want to walk use the stairs.

If you have ever watched footage of people where the Kings Guard are, then you would realise how nice you two are as tourists. You are doing it the right way. Respectful of the country in which you are, you have nice manners and genuinely want to know more about the UK. I've loved these vlogs. And don't worry about etiquette, some of the UK population don't have manners. You two are doing just fine. I live with a man who is super punctual, if he says he's going to be somewhere, he's there at least 10/15 minutes before. I've always been a bit more 'free and easy' with times. However, now I always ask him if it's a 'have to be there' time or a 'nice to be there' time. A 'have to be' and I make sure I'm in good time. A 'nice to be' and I'm not quite as stressed. I do recall going on a sunrise ballon trip in Florida, and the guy was very much you must be on time at the meeting place. As he said, 'the sun aint gonna stop rising because you ain't there and we WILL go without you' He was not joking, we had two people that weren't there on time, we left without them. I hold doors open for men and women, but I do expect some acknowlegment that I exist, so a thank you always goes a long way.
Yea in my day job I am constantly arranging meetings and times and in order to make a good impression and profit it has been instilled in me to be on time, Tiffany having to fussy boys has made “on time “ a pipe dream 😂🤣😂 I look at opening doors as “ common curtesy, but I also assumed “sir” being a military term was unisex term. Apparently I’m wrong on both lol.

People from UK often go on holiday in Europe and America so are used to driving on the right.
Im 48 in the UK, been loads of places including America, well Vegas that doesn't really count does it !! Ha... but never driven on the right, would terrify me
You guys need to cut yourself some slack. There is definitely a sense of etiquette in the UK, but we wouldnt expect you to get it. Dont be loud, dont be obnoxious, and observe the queue. You wont go far wrong.
If you do make a 'mistake', then just act graciously. You will get much more respect than if you just got it right in the first place.
There is something very endearing about you two. You seem to genuinely love the UK, and want to find out everything you can. I almost worry that we should all get together and guide you across the country!
I live in Northumberland, just a couple of miles from Hadrians Wall. There are also over 70 castles in Northumberland, some very ruinous and some quite grand. For over 400 years, this was an active border between England and Scotland and the castles are the scar tissue of those times. It is a stunningly beautiful county, with 70 miles of unbelievably golden beaches. Its definitely worth a visit.
I have lived all over the UK: London, Edinburgh, Cornwall and now I have returned to where I was born. I also spent a couple of years running a pub on a remote island: Lundy, in the Atlantic /Bristol channel.
Just come back, breathe deeply and slowly, the UK will do the rest.

I do wear hearing aids so that doesn't help, but there is a sharp contrast between the two. Is it possible for you to change the sound level?
Yes but the tricky bit is it sounds different to every one so each one we adjust to make it better based on comments so you’ll see a change next video lol

I lived in Europe for 15 years. ALL countries in Europe drive on the right. It was a bit scary for the first day, after that it becomes natural.
Statistically more people globally drive on the left. All the countries that were former British colonies or dominions still drive as we do, India being a good example, and there's 1.4 billion of them!
With should i look left or right,in the Uk there are so many one way systems /streets/roads that the look either left or right doesn't work, I'm never sure of the direction the cars are approaching from , having look left or right on the kerb helps ❤.
You should look up Dave Allen an Irish comedian. Look for " teaching his child to tell the time". " Plane travel". Unfortunately he's died. But was a great storyteller.

The queuing in the states definitely appears to be on a state by state basis, as most reactors do agree that it's a problem to some extent, but there are a few that insist it's not a problem at all from where they are.
For me leaving the que and coming back if you've left someone there is fine, the problems arise if the people behind didn't see you were there to start with, as someone holding for someone from the start isn't as socially acceptable.
No If one person leaves the cue as long as one of you stays in cue that is fine
Go to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. To cross the road you have to watch for cars, trams and psychopaths on cycle paths!

Believe me in a matter of a few hours driving on the left will be completely normal, just remember when you get home to allow the same switchover time...
You'll only struggle when you're alone on the road and your focus isn't complete. But you will relax into it with enough practice, and it won't take as long as you think.

I was in the UK forces and many time we drove in other countries like W Germany & France,we were not taught but get on with it,we did not have a problem and we were driving righthand drive vehicles on the right side of the road.What is a problem is the UK vehicles but not all have a CLUTCH pedal to change gear,so for the US visitor has to drive on the left with righthand steering wheel using a clutch to change gear.It's really not to hard and you get used to it meeting our roundabouts.All I can say is to those comming to the UK try and see if you can at least drive a righthanded car in your country but on spare land driving to the left as a test,it will give you some minor training to get you started,the gearbox might be a slight problem but you will get the hang of it the more you use it.Villages and narrow roads to you will test you and you will have to pass other vehcles too.Look on the internet to find a driving simulator available if it can change a lefthand drive to the right and have a gearbox lever to use.I know i'm not giving you the advice you want and may just visit us anyway and get on with it to drive,I had to like many in our forces,the only training was the traffic signs/speed signs,traffic lights etc and then a test you had to pass.
I think we Brits are more used to driving in Europe on the right. Our family were always holidaying in France, Portugal and Spain .
Yes it’s very easy to switch over between say driving across France and the UK, You’ll get used to it though sometimes people initially clip the kerb a bit, particularly if sat the other way over too, as I guess your brain is not so used to judging space on the other side while driving or maybe people over compensate too. Personally, I’m fine drive left/right side of road and with RHD or LHD cars.
See I forgot about how easy it is for you guys to go to another country and drive, I didn’t even think of that.

@neilchilds7555 Yep, guess you are right! LOL Driven all over Europe with no problem apart from once about 15 years ago, l turn out of a side road on to a main but ended on the left, instead of the right! Lucky only a second and no other traffic....
Driving on the left-hand side, apart from having historical significance, has been proved to be far safer than the "wrong" side of the road. And, incidentally, over 70 countries drive on the left, including large population countries like Japan and India, it's not just the UK! (BTW, there is no such thing as "British English", just English) (You two sound just right, but it seems to me that a lot of US citizens need to learn more manners, and, no, we're not weird, just civilized).(A simple trick when being hassled in a queue, just step back on their toes and say, oh! sorry. I hope that all this is helpful).
I’ve driven on the right in France, Crete, Rhodes, and Portugal it all takes about an hour or so to get your head around it. In Crete I was driving when a Greek friend in the back of the jeep started panicking shouting in Greek when I turned around asking what! he eventually told me in English “you are on the wrong side of the road” I swung over in time before traffic came around the corner.

We drive on the right on our own decisions not anyone elses that too goes for everything,somehow the rest of the world is slowly behind us finding other things we do for good or bad,we don't pinch other ideas because they could turnout wrong or a bad mistake.I'm old school too born in 1949 a male.It becomes funny when the none british find out how & why we do things different well we have had very good architects from the past and you will still find those buildings still standing the test of time,yes alot were damaged in the second world war.We get the migrants traveling through many counties and if they were good they would have stayed in that country but NO because the brits and the UK are on another level for lots of reasons.We let people find out what the UK has to offer on there own,good or bad leaks out of the UK to send messages what is found in the UK is different to where they have come from.RUclips is makeing it even more tempting to come to UK,Yes we have problems but it's not the true older british at fault.We never force things on new visitors and let them decide their own decision or opinions what they think of us.

You can drive any type of small vehicle (for example cars or motorcycles) listed on your full and valid licence for 12 months from when you last entered Great Britain (GB). So basically if you stay and intend to drive longer than 12 months at a time, you would then have to get a UK licence i believe, which would be much tougher.
There is no such thing as a gentleman in britain unless they are in their 60s-70s

You can find supermarkets open on Sunday 10am-14.00 some other places are open but if you want to see everything closed on a Sunday go to Germany
10am - 16.00. It's because of Sunday trading laws in the UK, and it depends on what the shops are selling.

As for driving here then I suggest you Google Harry Dunn, Northamptonshire and read the story of how a young boys life was taken from him and then you can make a decision about driving here. Personally I think any country that doesn't have a driving test as hard as ours is, then we should not allow it's people to drive here...I'm afraid that would include the whole of the US. Why do you Americans always make a fuss about driving on the left? I have driven all over Europe on the right and on one recent holiday (vacation!) I drove over 2,000 miles in the US, making the transition from a manual to an automatic without any difficulty. As a 78 year-old woman, I think I’m justified in saying that if anyone is worried about driving on the ‘other’ side of the road, perhaps they shouldn’t do it.
I think I disagree nervousness shows signs of being cautious, confidence can be a sign of recklessness lol

I've driven in the US a lot including motorhomes in Florida as well as cars. It's surprisingly easy to just stay on the correct side of the road. Generally speaking,if a car is coming at you head on, you're in the wrong lane😂
Honestly, I was worried too but but if I can do Orlando International to Dunedin right off the plane, you can do it too
