Yes it can… there’s an option that says photo+video… but the downside is that it takes the pictures itself in increments rather than you choosing when you want to take the pictures itself.
When she said it was lightweight I was not surprised. The battery did not add much weight. Looks do not really matter much these days as that is pretty much been dialed in by most fabricators even the sketchy ones. How it actually works and picture quality is what matters most especially when you zoom into a picture and see artifacts galore.

I actually have a similar issue with the selfie camera on my iPhone 14 Pro 😅 I would suggest just take a couple photos in each setting but check each time or save files with a note about the setting and you can decide which is best. Different setting may be better for different lighting, too.

sorry, but the camera has aful picture/video quality. (At 6:30 in your yard the structures of the fence cannot be resolved. The dynamic range is very poor and there is an enormous rolling shutter. It looks worse than any mid-range phone (like a Pixel 4a or an old IPhone). Thanks for testing, I was considering to by such a camera...
Looking for something to travel with that isn't heavy --- been looking at this one but I just can't get past the fact it says 'camera' across the top. Really corny. Wish they hadn't done that. I don't want to advertise that I've got a generic brand camera.

If your goal is to learn photography this will not help you to learn anything except composition, which can be done on your phone. The exposure triangle, which is key to learning photography is learning to adjust aperture, shutter speed and ISO. You can’t do any of that on this piece of 💩. If you’re wanting to get into photography on a budget, buy an older DSLR like a Canon rebel. This camera is nothing but a scam. I’m willing to bet the specs are completely exaggerated or misrepresented.
This is just a bad camera. You have someone that doesn’t know anything about photography that was paid to say good things about a bad product. You’re better off by buying a used camera from a reputable brand like Nikon, Canon or Sony. This isn’t even good for beginners it’s just bad for anyone.

take the lens cap off and the hood just screws right on top. you may need to reverse screw it's gotta be on completely flat to screw on nice and tight
