Hey Luke. So about that sniper class take. Yeah, umm, it's called levelling up. Just cause the class is slower at the start doesn't mean it isn't a beast later on. Already seen max difficulty play with the Sniper class and it's a BEAST. Bad take all around.
As someone with 60 hours in the current build and a maxed Sniper (Level 25), it is literally one of the strongest classes in the game (in fact, if it wasn't for Tactical getting full Melta ammo on Major Execution, Sniper would be unarguably the best). There is no other class that can take out entire groups of Major's without ever initiating combat (you can go invis, then stay invis for 2s post "invis break"). You just need the perks. Las Fusil with wide beam, and "gain +1 ammo when killing more than 1 enemy with a single shot" means you have insane add clear and infinite ammo. 75% bonus damage when coming out of Camo, and auto Camo on Perfect Dodge... GG. The sniper in this video is level 3. Sniper does not need a buff. It's crazy... crazy strong.

Tbf, you wouldn’t take it? I feel like as long as he keeps his integrity within the review itself, the “bribes” are null. It shouldn’t have been done to begin with from Ubisoft, but still, it’s up to him to put out a non bias review.
yeahhh, other competent players have access and have played sniper for more than 2 levels. They've shown us that it's broken, especially at high levels. For anyone reading I suggest taking his opinion with a singular grain of salt, bc the only thing he's objectively right about is it being weak at LOW levels. Legacy Gaming has gameplay videos of all the classes at high levels on the highest difficulty, the opinions on sniper is the reason they started that small series
I'm definitely keeping an eye on this. My buddies and I are always on the lookout for more co-op horde type games. Does anyone know just how melee-focused it is? I absolutely love Vermintide 2, and it's been difficult to find anything that has the same emphasis on melee, Darktide isn't quite the same for me.
Sniper class is probably being proactively balanced around PvP multiplayer but it's really there to be a supporting class that is effective at dealing a lot of damage to bosses and elite enemies like tyranid warriors or zoanthropes. But running 3-4 snipers in a squad is probably a bad idea.
Sniper class could possibly be really good in pvp. You can cloak, and i think theres perks that increase your first attack after camo, so you could barrel snuff them with highfire power sniper and finish off woth melee. Just brainstorming here
An easy fix for the sniper would be to make it that head shot kills restores a small amount heath or shields, If it doesn't already they should make it so that sniper rounds can penetrate multiple enemies.
sniper rounds already over penetrate trash mobs, one of the potentially best trash clearer in the game currently even is a las fusil sniper build using the "killing more than 1 enemy with one shot from a las fusil restores its charge by 1" perk turns it into a infinite ammo and penetration setup against smaller targets and hordes, the class starts out slower than others but at the same time will most likely be one of the stronger classes at endgame pve missions another example good example being the first signature perk you can unlock being "upon perfect dodge, activate cloak for 5 seconds without expending ability charge, can activate every 15 seconds" meaning idealy you will basicly never be overrun because of aggro dumping allies and having insane clutch potential with invis spam from other talents as well tl:dr sniper gets better the higher level it is, even more so than other classes
I downloaded darktide from gamepass the other day. I've never played a 40k game and going thru the beginning and tutorial I loved it. I couldn't wait to start playing more and then I realized there's no single-player. I like playing mp games but I'm not a co-op guy. There's no taking your time and taking everything in and looking for stuff. It's just run until you see enemies, fight enemies, run to see enemies to fight them some more and repeat. As soon as the last enemy is dead, everybody takes off to be the first one to find new enemies so they can kill them before anybody else. The only way to play co-op is to play with people you know and who play like you. The few people I do know who play games don't play a lot and only play single-player games. I uninstalled the game before even playing 1 mission. I can't wait for this one bc I really like the 40k world or at least from the little I saw of darktide it seems like I will. I wish they would add single-player to darktide. Does anybody know if there is any 40k game like darktide that is single-player?
The closest thing to Darktide is Space Hulk: Deathwatch. Its the same horde but as a singleplayer campaign where you an customize your own space marine and 2 additional NPC marines that can have their loadouts changed to help you. It may be multiplayer. The feel and atmosphere is on point, the story isnt super amazing, but it exposes you to another part of 40k lore which are Space Hulks, also the original name of the board game.
no, the other ones would be vermintide (1 and 2) but they are the same as Darktide, but there is Space Marine 1, so you can enjoy singleplayer story that way and help you catch up for this one
The game called Boltgun is a singleplayer 40k boomer shooter you might like, tons of enemies on screen like Darktide at times. Very highly rated on steam.
Sniper is just a class designed for pvp/csm killing. Played the leak a few weeks ago, and the sniper rifles are great against human-sized enemies. They do suck against enemy swarms.

So I’m a Grandmaster Overwatch Widowmaker and Ashe and Ana ( all scoped ) and HALO Sniper only for ten 20+ years. I was also in a Sniper Platoon in the Marines. I’ve never heard of Warhammer until this week and was sure I’d be the Sniper Class, boasting to all my friends. But I’m also not a jackass and like to win no matter what, so thank you for being HONEST and having BALLS!! 😂
One thing that is kinda weird for me from a lore persepective is chaos being here, and Thousand sons of all things. Don't tyranids have a pretty good time against demons and have a shadow in the warp? Like I swear I've heard stories where a planet is attacked by chaos, chaos retreats, planet celebrates and its actually because the tyranids are here. I guess old habits die hard. If its a warhammer 40k game and the main enemy isn't chaos, them chaos will still show up. Honestly would have been cool if it was Dark eldar for once.
Great video, Luke! I have to say I expected more than the previous one on the gameplay side, wich doesn't look like it's going to be, but I'm still interested on the game. Looking forward to play it next month!
I am very excited about the Tide-esque coop mode, feels like a natural progression from World War Z (one of my favorite l4d horde style coop games, although lacking in areas such as progression). This will probably be my primary game mode and it seems like it is going to offer a lot of meat for me to sink my teeth into, I'm hoping for hundreds of hours just in this mode across the game's life-cycle.
Are people so ignorant that they think the Ubisoft trip is something that doesn't happen often? Is this news to you? No shit "influencers" are given trips and free stuff all the time. It's up to you to discern whether you think that person is so easily bought and sold. Usually, it's streamers and "enthusiasts" who hype up every big game that comes out, not actual reviewers. It takes more than a cursory glance at 4chan to understand that, so a lot of you guys just don't know. But I mean, really...do you not understand any subtlety or nuance whatsoever???
@@jonasking9587 Yes, they are. This shit has going on for years, even seen as normal to a point... Years, it takes years before the general masses seem to catch onto anything and they instantly full swing when it occurs. lol...
They already said they'd be adding additional Operations. and 6 isn't bad, Helldivers 2 started with 4, so Space Marine 2 already has 50% more on launch.
Also I don’t think most people will be buying it for the multiplayer. The lure for this game is the campaign. If there’s a 10-12 hour campaign with a well written story and cool boss fights, that’s worth the ticket cost for most Warhammer fans, the multiplayer is just a cool bonus but since it requires friends and or being social, most of us probably won’t be playing it a ton
@@11jerans You can play Operations just fine with bot teammates though. I for one would rather be almost any other chapter than an Ultramarine, so I'll be grinding to unlock other cosmetics lol
The fact that they let luke freely talk about bugs like that shows you that they have confidence in their own product. And many of those bugs from the sound of it will probably be fixed by graphics card driver update when the game releases.
I love Warhammer 40,000. My first game was Dawn Of War on PC back in the 90s and I've been hooked ever since. I only have about 20 figures myself, but a ton of Warhammer 40,000 games.
Played the leaked early build, and it was rough (as you'd expect an early build to be). But I'm hoping they've improved upon it quite a bit since I last played -- really hope the controls get better, and combat becomes more intuitive. But a part of me worries they might not have improved upon it quite enough.
Have a video on my other monitor called "Space Marine 2 - Sniper Class Is Insane!" ready to be played so I'm a bit surprised hearing it be called the weakest in this one. It's going to be fun to see what the difference in viewpoints are.
Yeah I’ve liked everything I’ve seen from the game I’ll probably pre order the ultra edition since I’m a big fan of space marine 1, and I want to give support to ensure the game series doesn’t get abandoned.
Another reason they almost certainly want to use B-Roll footage; if someone is very bad at the game, it could make the game itself look very bad. Experienced this in another game I was under an NDA for. That was essentially 1 of the 2 reasons for it.
A lot of people are against the sniper. Its very good. Hang back and drill elites. It'll be a huge deal in PvP, but sniper doesn't need a buff. Lean into the playstyle intended for sniper, especially with perks.
Suuuuuuper excited for this game. It really reminds me of Gears of War when I first got into it over a decade ago. Very similar vibe. I also didn’t know the multiplayer was in the game at all until a few weeks ago and now I’m extremely excited.
18:40 regarding Las Fusil prononciation. Fusil is a French word that means Riffle. The "L" is silent and lead to variant of the word as many silent letters at the end of words in the french language, like Fusiller, Fusillade or Fusillier, from the same vocabulary family. The pronounciation goes like " fu-zee". "Fu" doesn't sounds "foo" but the french prononciation is a solid U sound, witch doesn't really exist in the english language. Also don't really know why they gave it this name, as Fusil in french just refer to a general riffle, and not particulary to a precision riffle or sniper. Maybe a 40k lore detail ?
I'm catious, some writer who's way way into her own politics was head writing on this game, and is infamous for using projects to hijack the narrative and preach at the customer. I heard rumors she no longer works on the project, but I can't find any concrete info on it.
Why writers wouldn't have political opinions ? If a writer politics will always be reflected on their writing, if you don't like politics then go play mario, games always had politics
@ni9274 I'm not a fan of being preached at. Keep Irl politics out of games. I don't wanna hear about BLM, LGBTQ, And even right wing shit in a fictional setting. Time and place this writer isn't entitled to shoving her politics into a setting she dosent own.
@@GutsOfRiviaBut the point he’s making is real world politics makes its way into all media including video games. BioShock, Mass Effect, Witcher, RDR2, etc…all games that heavily pull from real world politics/issues using it for their own narrative within the fiction.
@soapboxgames5455 Okay probably more context is needed. This writer is infamous for very HAMFISTED insertion of politics. And I think everyone can agree that they don't want to see that in a game. The type of writing of " here's my take and if you disagree with it you are a bad person". I dunno about you but I don't really want to sit and experince that playing a game no matter what the opinion is.
Hmm.. Ya it seems like the sniper should be able to recharge their armor with something like headshot kills on large enemies and the heavy should recharge armor on multikills or something like that. Let them use the class's schtick to get rewarded. Then also a weapon balance pass sounds necessary. Still hopeful for the game, but it's a bit worrying since sniper and heavy were the two classes I was most interested in playing.
sniper and its weapons, from what i have seen so far, start out slow at the start (luke giving his impression with a level 3 sniper) and ramp up harder than other classes with perks/levels so you should be fine if you want to play with that class id say that the critique that this kind of ranged playstyle doesnt mix well the current systems is more of a preference thing than full on non-comparability ("just dont get hit lmao" but actually, stay back and let the melee classes get in the thick of things, support them by putting high value targets into executable state with 1-2 headshots etc), but alright lets say that is actually the case you can also play up close with the bolt carbine, ducking in and out of invisibility with perfect dodges, be a invisible rez bot, act as a anker point for your team while you keep cc'ing enemies whenever you pop back out of stealth edit: as for the heavy, it has a perk node that lets it recharge armor and a other that helps regenerate additional health while in heavy stance, you will be eating good dont worry
This looks like what we wanted Anthem to be. This is what I'm looking for from my Warhammer games - 1st/3rd person looter-shooters set in 40k. I'm waiting for a game like Dark Tide, but more open-world/level with a wider range (different armies) of PCs.
I don't care if it's a 6 or 7 out of 10. If its overall a great experience then im all for it. We all seem to be missing this kind of game, so as long as its decent, solid, and in certain areas amazing, then were golden.
Seeing them accurately depict Thousands sons by not having blood etc etc is fucking sick to me in general, i really thought they were just gonna go lazy mode and put Blood when you attacked them.
In a game where you square off against thousands of units on screen at one time, a sniper would not be a viable class at all. I bet they could retool it into something closer to a grenadier that uses long range explosives, though. But, is that role handled already by another class like heavy?
I knew you were going to say it was the sniper class. Idk why anybody would want to be a sniper when there's dozens of enemies surrounding you and rushing you and when you have a melee weapon which is seems crucial to stay alive. The only way a sniper works is if you have multiple other players aggroing enemies and the sniper does a ton of damage and the bullet goes thru multiple enemies, otherwise it seems useless. The sniper will probably be a lot better in the mp section. I could see it being viable there.
seen a few vids about the sniper class now and I fear you just didn't give the class a chance before you made up your mind. It's all good that it didn't sit right with you during your time with it but it's not a bad class, you probably played it wrong. There's multiple vids of people rocking sniper on the hardest difficulty and are doing just fine, even thriving. Awesome that classes bring different buffs to the team as well, making lots of different fun combos to run with. Good for variety

@George-um2vc even though he was clear about the entire thing?
@George-um2vc you're acting like he wasn't so I just assumed like what you're doing rn
Dude. You have the most coziest/nerdiest office and I'm jealous 😍
I think the sniper class would be a lot better in multiplayer to escape
yeahhh, other competent players have access and have played sniper for more than 2 levels.
I dont know why they picked the sniper when an apothecary sounds like a far more useful class
The tinnitus bug is just hyper realism. Dude lost his hearing after that explosion
Not mentioning the Eldar in the display was the right move 😂
Having a game that brings back the old gears of war vibe/gameplay loop is all I needed to hear. I can sink hundreds of hours into something like this
Sniper class should be like Imperial Guard, fast moving stealthy glass cannon.
You should show us your full Warhammer collection in a video
You can buy a kit to add double the shelves to those glass cases. no need to waste so much space right.
Depends on the class, there's combo's finishers stuns perfect parries and dodges
Tzeentch mutatating the environment is the coolest thing ive seen so far
Sniper class is probably being proactively balanced around PvP multiplayer but it's really there to be a supporting class that is effective at dealing a lot of damage to bosses and elite enemies like tyranid warriors or zoanthropes. But running 3-4 snipers in a squad is probably a bad idea.
i was always curious where magnus had gone after seeing him on the back shelf in that one video awhile back.
having a 40k fan and a thousand sons fan make a video like this gets me all giddy inside.
If Thousand Sons are in it, I hope we get to see Daemon Primarch Magnus, even if we dont get to fight him.
As a DG player, hoping for Morty; Magnus would be very cool too tho (2nd favourite CSM legion)
The snipers are for the 4 raven gaurds left in the galaxy
Underrated comment
Sniper class could possibly be really good in pvp. You can cloak, and i think theres perks that increase your first attack after camo, so you could barrel snuff them with highfire power sniper and finish off woth melee. Just brainstorming here
there are indeed seperate perks for melee (+100%) and ranged (+75%) breaking the camo
An easy fix for the sniper would be to make it that head shot kills restores a small amount heath or shields, If it doesn't already they should make it so that sniper rounds can penetrate multiple enemies.
sniper rounds already over penetrate trash mobs, one of the potentially best trash clearer in the game currently even is a las fusil sniper build
using the "killing more than 1 enemy with one shot from a las fusil restores its charge by 1" perk turns it into a infinite ammo and penetration setup against smaller targets and hordes, the class starts out slower than others but at the same time will most likely be one of the stronger classes at endgame pve missions
another example good example being the first signature perk you can unlock being "upon perfect dodge, activate cloak for 5 seconds without expending ability charge, can activate every 15 seconds" meaning idealy you will basicly never be overrun because of aggro dumping allies and having insane clutch potential with invis spam from other talents as well
tl:dr sniper gets better the higher level it is, even more so than other classes
No recent 40k games I’m afraid
Very highly rated on steam.
these games need constant support from the devs it would be cool if they add new maps enemiesl and dlcs after a while if the game succeeds
Sniper class needs extreme weakpoint damage to bosses or it's not viable.
All their perks + 75% bonus dmg when breaking camo, then auto camo on perfect dodge... they deal insane damage.
Sniper is just a class designed for pvp/csm killing. Played the leak a few weeks ago, and the sniper rifles are great against human-sized enemies. They do suck against enemy swarms.
@@Kursor777 When you have 2-3 Beam width increases on Las Fusil, you can take out more enemies in a single shot than almost any weap besides a point blank Melta. =O
Skill issue
@@bencureton What about the SMG / regular sniper then? In every comment you mention how great Las Fusil is, yet what I want to know is if there is any build variety
Dartide changed a litle. Now the same map can be different with some path open or closed. It feel less repetitive.
Sniper is one of the best classes if not the best. Look up a video from crazymrpipz
The boltgun in Dark Tide can one tap an elite, at the expense of recoil and reload. Not sure why the sniper class isn't similar.
I'm not sure if this has been suggested, They could swap put the sniper class for an Apothecary to serve as a medic type of class.
The sniper is a slow start but not terrible. Plenty of vids out there of people popping elites with head shots while assaults and bulwarks execute
❓ Singleplayer campaign is fully multiplayer compatible with friends... right??? ❓
Idk if you had this answered somewhere else, but I believe so.
It’s not exactly “singleplayer” then, is it?
Great video, Luke! I have to say I expected more than the previous one on the gameplay side, wich doesn't look like it's going to be, but I'm still interested on the game. Looking forward to play it next month!
I can’t wait to make my favorite black Templar mini I’ve made into my character.
Also making a Khorne berserker
I'm fine with B-roll footage, let me experience something's the first time my way.
I hope you weren't taken to Disneyland this time.
What difference would it make?
Are people so ignorant that they think the Ubisoft trip is something that doesn't happen often? Is this news to you?
No shit "influencers" are given trips and free stuff all the time. It's up to you to discern whether you think that person is so easily bought and sold. Usually, it's streamers and "enthusiasts" who hype up every big game that comes out, not actual reviewers. It takes more than a cursory glance at 4chan to understand that, so a lot of you guys just don't know.
But I mean, really...do you not understand any subtlety or nuance whatsoever???
He didn’t go to L.A for outlaws. He played at home.
@@jonasking9587 Yes, they are. This shit has going on for years, even seen as normal to a point... Years, it takes years before the general masses seem to catch onto anything and they instantly full swing when it occurs. lol...
@@merccc1 They all pray for Gamergate 2.0, and it's pathetic.
It's going to be fun to see what the difference in viewpoints are.
the sniper class wen you get the perks is laughably op you can almost solo at higher difficulty's
12:53 That's awesome you can change character/class in game
I think the sniper is also there for pvp for people who enjoy that gameplay style
Yeah I’ve liked everything I’ve seen from the game I’ll probably pre order the ultra edition since I’m a big fan of space marine 1, and I want to give support to ensure the game series doesn’t get abandoned.
make the sniper great, my friends want to live out Eliminator dreams. Make them boss killers.
Another reason they almost certainly want to use B-Roll footage; if someone is very bad at the game, it could make the game itself look very bad. Experienced this in another game I was under an NDA for. That was essentially 1 of the 2 reasons for it.
the sniper could be interesting in versus mode
8:15 'He'd still have the helmet off' right when Titus tore the head a of a Choas marine. That was intentional
Co op campaign has to be a must add feature inThe future.
WTF... This channel is the house of sponserships.
Right with him saying Best Buy has good prices LMFAO
i hope this game brings in a whole bunch of new people to the 40k fandom and we can modernize the landscape a bit
They said NO MICROTRANSACTIONS will be in this game. Only for cosmetics, nothing related to how you play the game
So there's microstransactions in this game like every other game that comes out.
Those are still microtransactions
I hate to break it to you but Warhammer 40000 is a very political franchise. Whinge more.
Hmm.. Ya it seems like the sniper should be able to recharge their armor with something like headshot kills on large enemies and the heavy should recharge armor on multikills or something like that. Let them use the class's schtick to get rewarded. Then also a weapon balance pass sounds necessary. Still hopeful for the game, but it's a bit worrying since sniper and heavy were the two classes I was most interested in playing.
sniper and its weapons, from what i have seen so far, start out slow at the start (luke giving his impression with a level 3 sniper) and ramp up harder than other classes with perks/levels so you should be fine if you want to play with that class
id say that the critique that this kind of ranged playstyle doesnt mix well the current systems is more of a preference thing than full on non-comparability ("just dont get hit lmao" but actually, stay back and let the melee classes get in the thick of things, support them by putting high value targets into executable state with 1-2 headshots etc), but alright lets say that is actually the case you can also play up close with the bolt carbine, ducking in and out of invisibility with perfect dodges, be a invisible rez bot, act as a anker point for your team while you keep cc'ing enemies whenever you pop back out of stealth
edit: as for the heavy, it has a perk node that lets it recharge armor and a other that helps regenerate additional health while in heavy stance, you will be eating good dont worry
Fusil is a name for an old type of flintlock musket I think
5:57 OMG 😬 Demon Prince Magnus? Ahriman? 😳
I'll stick with the First Descendant, this feels like Darktide all over again. Not a bad game but not something I'll play longer than a week or two.
"AAA or AAAA masterpieces"? What planet are you on?
@@Paul_Hardy Holy Terra.

Think this looks like the just good old fashioned fun type of game I’m looking for these days. I’m not preordering (I’m not insane) but I’m into it.
7:06 Take note Ubisoft, showcase the game WELL INTO THE CAMPAIGN
Nowadays a title playing like x360 era game sounds like something better than 90% of the stuff we get in recent years
Seeing them accurately depict Thousands sons by not having blood etc etc is fucking sick to me in general, i really thought they were just gonna go lazy mode and put Blood when you attacked them.
In a game where you square off against thousands of units on screen at one time, a sniper would not be a viable class at all. I bet they could retool it into something closer to a grenadier that uses long range explosives, though. But, is that role handled already by another class like heavy?
So glad these are the guys making the Kotor remake
I knew you were going to say it was the sniper class. Idk why anybody would want to be a sniper when there's dozens of enemies surrounding you and rushing you and when you have a melee weapon which is seems crucial to stay alive. The only way a sniper works is if you have multiple other players aggroing enemies and the sniper does a ton of damage and the bullet goes thru multiple enemies, otherwise it seems useless.
The sniper will probably be a lot better in the mp section. I could see it being viable there.
It's more for pvp ;)
Sniper will be better when guns and class skills are leveled up and built with a specific build in mind
seen a few vids about the sniper class now and I fear you just didn't give the class a chance before you made up your mind.
I'm sad TotalBiscuit isn't here to experience this game, he loved the hell out of the first game.
Man, where’s the Apothecary? That’s like a main staple space marine. 😅
And you can even do a Psyker space marine!
Do I dare dream of a day as well…maybe…just maybe, really hoping so cause this would be the best game ever maybe…..do they add terminators into the game? 🤤
Imagine? Heavy gatlin gun, heavy flamer, thunder fist and for the chaos the giant blade claws!? Pleaseeeee!?
