I first came to Nepal in 1993 to go to Everest base, camp. Then returned in 1999 and walked in from Jiri and also visited gokyo, missed on my first trip. I don't recognise any of this, yes places change as do improvement in accommodation. Lukla and Namche paved like it's a metropolis, huge hotels, far too many ponies, the yak being the beast of burden when i was there. Entry into Sagamatha was a little timber hut to get your details checked. Progress, I suppose I am glad I have the memories from a far simpler time, even though there were many trekking back then. Thank you for a wonderful insight into the modern Everest region Good to see khumjung school and how it has developed. Ive been involved with the himalayan trust in the UK since 1993
