I’ve been doing concrete for 54 years and you guys did a damn good job for not being concrete guys. It’s a lot tougher than what people think. I watch you all the time and I just realized your farm was started the same year as our concrete business. Great to see multiple generation keeping it going. We have our 5th generation doing it now. Keep doing what you do because our Country needs Farmers more than the politicians. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
For sure and the time constraint kicks an occasional pourer in the ass. One of those jobs it is do it or else there will be harder work if you don't do it right.
Glad to see Grandpa keeping everyone in check! The funniest thing ever- Grandpa locked Toby 🐕 in the 🐱 cat house to keep him out of trouble! 🤣🤣🤣 Toby says thank you grandpa! OH HAPPY DAY!!! HERE KITTY 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱‼️ And the professionalism in which you all lay that concrete is so impressive!😳 Moves I didn’t know Randy and Mr. Dougo could still do! (great job as always!) Toby needs to be on a T-shirt with the struggle bus and Mr. Dougo driving and you all hanging out!!! One of a kind treasure right there!!! Who was the young man helping you all do the concrete? Do we know him? Hello 👋 young gentleman!!! Miss you Ms. Dougo!!! Wishing everyone all the best all Larson’s Farm‼️
Both my boys are in the concrete industry. The oldest started with pouring and finishing and is now driving the trucks. He likes this job much better. The youngest is currently working in the pouring and finishing part. They are 21 and 18. Both hard workers.
I love watching your videos Chet. My crew and I pour concrete every day. Family business will be 50 years old next April. My father started and now my son is my best finisher. We work really hard to make it look easy. Lol. My family where all farmers before going into construction. I still love to run the combine for a farmer friend of mine. We appreciate all you do. Keep it up.
We did a 40' x 4' pit and built wooden steps down and it was the best thing we did. When working on stuff you can get in and out quick and not ducking under the truck. Also the extra width is awesome. Did recessed lights in it and drain all concrete. Built wood covers for when we throw parties..lol.
You'd better send Eric to veterinarian and have him checked for bugs worms or other things. Have him take Toby with him, don't want poor Toby to get any fleas or other bugs. Great video once again. Was good seeing Grandpa and Randy and Toby all there. Take care guys.
Man u guys are killing it lately. Loving the vids Larson farms keep em coming only gonna get better as soon as harvest season starts. My hats are off to u gentlemen. Thank a farmer. 🤟
Hey, We had fun today, had a twister pass less than 1/2 mile pass us and winds over 80 mph. And 9 inches of rain, 3 miles away they got 1/2 inch of rain. Oh, yeah, the weatherman said only 10% chance of rain today. As I'm running back 3/4 mile from the dumpster due to lighting and hail. It was one of those storms had lighting everywhere it hit something we saw the multiple flashes then explosion. Just an afternoon Rain Storm.
A 35 foot pit is what we have but we have stairs at either end so if the cab is down in the front you just pull it for the forward and use the steps in the back.
Hey Chet, you talked about a longer pit and the hood being a concern or issue. Have you thought about backing in and then the hood would be over the slab and rear axles at the steps?
Hey Chet, I am sure I am not the first, or only one to comment about the service pit, but if you turn the truck around, the pit would be plenty long. Love your channel.
There’s gotta be some reason they do it that way, every truck and vehicle is driven forwards on and I know they have enough sense to think to turn it around.
@@kodez79 When the hood is down it's over the pit taking up that space. if they would back the truck in then the hood can be over the floor instead of the pit allowing space for the front axle.
I don't know what you guys think, but I'm thinking that Brody needs Merch!!! Haha! I am not a farmer (I'm a video producer), and I love your videos! Thank you for taking the time to shoot, edit and produce those every week/month.
For all that small scrap cut top off a couple of 44's chuck them in there nice and easy. Then onto a pallet job done for the small stuff. Unless you get a decent magnet to run through it i bet a few flat tyres coming. And love that tank stand looks sturdy 👌 lol
Great job guys. Concrete is definitely a man maker or breaker. Great to see grandpa out there. Who was the young man helping you out there? Is he family or just helper?? Seemed to be a good worker. BTW. Those looked like chigger bites. Keep pumping out the awesome videos. Love you guys
Heads up. You need to jack the front axle up then grease the king pins. That way grease can get all the way around to prevent premature failure. That is what all my owner operator friends do to extend the the life of their king pins.
Next time dont use the pipes. Run a chalk line across the side of the bin to height, take a string line from that line to the board and pound stakes to the height. Screed between them and pound them down as you go. Much easier than dealing with moving the pipe and filling it in. Also when its warm out have a guy bullfloating behind the guys screeding. Much easier to hit that first pass when she's still a little wet. Also grab some expansion roll for next time. Youll want bigger expansion area for the frost movement her in MN; especially where it can get pinched between the bins.
Thank you. I've done driveways, sidewalks, basement floors, and poured basement walls from 1982 to 1988. One floor I remember doing was for a freezer company. We started pouring cement around 3 pm. Me and two other men didn't get done finishing the floor until 4am. You guys have done an excellent job.
Chet, I think this is my favorite video since I been watching you for a couple months or so. BTW, in my younger days I poured a lot of concrete: parking lots, streets, sidewalks, machine pits for big milling machines, footings, and walls (even 30 foot walls -- in 10 foot sections). That was many years ago from '77 to '81. I was in the best shape of my life from that work. You have a good life there, Chet. Reminds me of my youth on our Iowa Farm in the 60's and early 70's.
Rent the stump grinder before you purchase one . I rented one for the week I used it 8 hrs and took it back. Hired a man with a 60 hp vermeer took him 1/3 the time and cost me less !
You don't want me peeking at your junk but you're peeking at the swede's bedbug bites. Good job on the seement. That's even a hard job for the pro's. When are you going to show us the new grain bin? Good video. Pax.
Grandpa is waiting to see one of you young bucks slacking ! You gotta take is wisdom and life experience seriously. Concentrate work isn't easy or fun . Great video keep up the good work !
I was a hiredman for farmers 2 to be exact back in the days and when it was time to pour concrete it was fun and something different to do but it was the day after and the day after that killed you cuz you weren't used to the different muscles and bones you used daily .I have a friend who has poured concrete since he was 14 and he is in his upper 60's and in the last 50 years he still poured concrete after a day's worth of work and my hat goes out to concrete laborers for doing a tough job, but if you do it daily it keeps you in shape. Chet it's all the attachments that gets you cuz they they save your back not your checkbook.
In the Florida Panhandle we call them red bugs! Some people call them Chiggers! They itch like crazy and get them in tall grassy and heavy wooded areas.
Get the bionic blade attachment. You can reclaim a lot of your gravel on the edges of the gravel drives. It also allows a lot of your fines to go to the bottom and larger rocks on top. Takes a little to get set but well worth it
Big Swede, you should get royalty for sales of the gloves you are using. Ordered 3 pair and am enjoying using them in my yard work. Figured if they were good enough for the Big Swede, they are good enough for me.
Chet, you can always tell what amount of grease is left in the tube by pulling out the plunger. As you pump grease out, the plunger moves in indicating exactly what the level of grease is remaining in the tube.
I'd love to see you do an interview or a series of interviews with your grandfather/grandparents. I'd love to hear the Larson Farm story from his point of view. How farming used to be compared to now and what he thinks about all the technology necessary to farm now.
Always good to see Toby! Chet...why couldn't the scrap be stored in one of the remaining swine barns...at least until prices rise again? Neater grounds👀👍
Take it from me--the amount of money you want to get for the scrap iron could take years and years to come back to previous price levels.. is 5 to 10 years of an eyesore worth $250 ? You have an excavator, put it to use for 1 hour and the junk is gone! Otherwise you will be moving it here and there, mowing around it, spraying roundup to control the weeds, moving it around could accidently hurt or injure someone at some point and time, etc....I realize the older generation was brought up to save and store, but with Chet's expression trying to explain why they have to hold it for a price hike, goes against all you ever hear from him when he is in the shop and something breaks or gets worn out, is his word, "junk", and now he has to look at junk pile for years to come...I'm seeing a little disagreement in this situation..😔
You shoulda put a foam barrier along the Bin footing for expansion/contraction. It’s kinda greyish/black and comes in rolls. It what they use between a garage floor and driveway. Concrete is easy Money. .
Big Sweed found some Tiger mosquitoes AKA ankle biters Their from Asia .and were brought to the US in shipping containers but not on propose , They even bite during the day , We now have them in California .
Check it out spider hitch for hooking your grain cart to the combine it’s attached to the combine pull a cable out hook it to the header cart it retracks and hooks the cart up automatically
You did ok chet and dougo...ive been pouring concrete for 35 yrs and i could say this or that about what you did wrong but if someone with minimal experience can get it somewhat flat then you've done ok...the biggest ive done is 165 cubic metres in one pour...yes im Australian 🇦🇺 with my metric terms....so while most will judge on your mistakes ill say good job its flat and fairly smooth so it'll do for around the bins...next time though put proper expansion foam between the bins and slab instead of cardboard
Chet you need to wash your hands with apple cider vinegar after getting them in concrete. It counter acts the acid of the concrete and stops your hands from peeling. Really works

These boys will work and pride their self in doing a good job.
Good to see grandpa showing you kids how to do it right 👍
The smile on grandpa's face when he said toby was locked up 😂😂
My father was the KING of any and all Concrete Work for sure, we had full Concrete driveway & he also did all foundations for every home he built.
Glad to see Grandpa keeping everyone in check! The funniest thing ever-
Grandpa locked Toby 🐕 in the 🐱 cat house to keep him out of trouble! 🤣🤣🤣

Miss you Ms. Dougo!!! Wishing everyone all the best all Larson’s Farm‼️
Cement work is tough. Great when it's done. God bless you guys and the people that do cement work for a living. You sure earn your pay!
the video was awesome again. Great to see Grandpa , Doug, Randy and Toby. Thank you Chet and the guys
Both my boys are in the concrete industry. The oldest started with pouring and finishing and is now driving the trucks. He likes this job much better. The youngest is currently working in the pouring and finishing part. They are 21 and 18. Both hard workers.
Tough job
@Eric E ...they want a paycheck ...just not to work hard for it ... but their time my still be off a bit ... lets see bet there just fine ...
would like to see Randy in more videos. He has a great subtle sense of humour.
Thanks Larson farms and associates for keeping us all fed ........
Love how grampa was out too supervise the concrete and verify that he locked Toby in the cat shed!!!
19 years driving a cement mixer(redi mix) 2003-current in wisconsin plus a helper when needed.
Always good to see the whole family working together.
I love watching your videos Chet. My crew and I pour concrete every day. Family business will be 50 years old next April. My father started and now my son is my best finisher. We work really hard to make it look easy. Lol.

Chet. Thanks for the tip of the hat. As a concrete man it is hard work
Big Swede needs to show up with the Hartz 2 in 1 collar maybe.
Lol
It's so good to see how much Brody has fit right in with everyone😁
You'd better send Eric to veterinarian and have him checked for bugs worms or other things. Have him take Toby with him, don't want poor Toby to get any fleas or other bugs.
Great video once again. Was good seeing Grandpa and Randy and Toby all there.
Take care guys.
English much?
Must be an old veterinarian to be a veteran
Good see Grandpa out help you guys
I used to work for my dad's construction business, and the only good thing I can say about doing concrete is it gets rid of a hangover real fast.
Man u guys are killing it lately. Loving the vids Larson farms keep em coming only gonna get better as soon as harvest season starts. My hats are off to u gentlemen. Thank a farmer. 🤟
I haven't committed for some time, but still enjoy the videos. Keep them coming!!!
Shout out larson farms all farmers are amazing 👏 thank you 😊
Nothing more rewarding than a good cement pour.
Nice to Merlin and Randy. Thats your Lil brother too isnt it?
Good to see Grandpa and Randy! Enjoy them both!
Did it for a few years as a curb finisher behind a paving machine. It is most definitely work

Little trick for Dougo. Round the corners off on the bull float, won't leave the ridges between float passes.
Big Swede coming in like a boss. What a great crew.

The rear axle is not over the pit, so by turning it around you would leave the front axle too far forward it seems.
Probably the oil drain won't reach the other side
@@kodez79 When the hood is down it's over the pit taking up that space. if they would back the truck in then the hood can be over the floor instead of the pit allowing space for the front axle.

Very, very,very.. nice job. Nice and clean. Corn. Farm!💯❄️❄️🍒
He'll yes gradpaos out and looking well Chad good to see him on screen after so long
Great seeing your Grandpa again. Took the cake when he said Toby got locked in the cat house.

It's his little brother i think

Rent the stump grinder before you purchase one . I rented one for the week I used it 8 hrs and took it back. Hired a man with a 60 hp vermeer took him 1/3 the time and cost me less !
You all have done an Awesome job
Thanks for sharing your vids with us!
My dad drove a concrete truck and did finish work for over 30 years. I have done my fair share. You guys did good and it is hard work.
Concrete is what I do for a living and it’s in my blood now so love that kinda stuff
You don't want me peeking at your junk but you're peeking at the swede's bedbug bites. Good job on the seement. That's even a hard job for the pro's. When are you going to show us the new grain bin? Good video. Pax.
In the Pit, Maybe add a step at the other end of the pit so you can enter/exit from both ends👍
You guys did a great job on that concrete. Cool video 👍❤️
Nice job and to see grandpa out supervising!!
My Six Man Crew done 120 Yrds. Today started at 7:00 am done by Noon.
I think Grandpa's short responses to your guys's Shenanigans is hilarious.
Nice to see everyone. Great job
guys. Another great video Chet
Grandpa is waiting to see one of you young bucks slacking ! You gotta take is wisdom and life experience seriously. Concentrate work isn't easy or fun . Great video keep up the good work !

I watch you and the Welkers and Mitchel in Canada
You could always fab a verticle skid steer attachment rack and save space.
We have a saying " you don't work concrete it works you " did it 42 years !!!
In the Florida Panhandle we call them red bugs! Some people call them Chiggers! They itch like crazy and get them in tall grassy and heavy wooded areas.

use vinegar to wash your hands after concrete work makes them not dry out so bad. just give it a shot sometime
I'm sure bin floor is level, measure down from floor to screed line every ft or so, then snap lines. Or carpenter crayon.
Big Swede, you should get royalty for sales of the gloves you are using. Ordered 3 pair and am enjoying using them in my yard work. Figured if they were good enough for the Big Swede, they are good enough for me.
Give it up Brodie. Nobody can holler Dougo or anything else like Chet!
Farmyard Foreman Toby is the only Larson allowed to frolic in the cat house
Cement is a binding agent. It is one of the ingredients used in concrete.
@larson farms - reverse onto the pit !!!!!!! save bonnet/hood length over stairs
Good to see grandpa out and about taking part in the upgrades, get the old 1086 out this fall he can spend a few days in it 😆
Try a 2x4 to screed next time. Hell of a lot easier
LMAO. I got a new 75" tv the other day and used a circular saw to get rid of the box... Great minds and all that hehehehe
Need to put up a liquid fertilizer containment now where those trees were. For your 10-34-0 and 28%.
Chet, you can always tell what amount of grease is left in the tube by pulling out the plunger. As you pump grease out, the plunger moves in indicating exactly what the level of grease is remaining in the tube.
There's a hole in the middle. Lake Larson. Ice skating this winter!
you can put hose on them and bring them out each side of the truck that is what i do with my trucks
A good place to get the old school grease tips is yard sales people sell off their old stuff and I always see grease guns with the long lasting tips.
I'd love to see you do an interview or a series of interviews with your grandfather/grandparents. I'd love to hear the Larson Farm story from his point of view. How farming used to be compared to now and what he thinks about all the technology necessary to farm now.
I agree, I’d like to see a video of Grandpa, Doug’s, and Randy giving a history of Larson Farms.
Maybe in a “down time” (heat is that you say
Crap, hit the wrong keys, but maybe in one of your down times y’all can sit down and share the farm history.
I agree, in the last few years the grease gun tip haven't been lasting like they used to
Fine job we need you out there on a 1000 yard pour!!!!
👏👏👏too much fun 😎
Always good to see Toby! Chet...why couldn't the scrap be stored in one of the remaining swine barns...at least until prices rise again? Neater grounds👀👍
That's a great idea, but I think they plan on removing the remaining swine barns. Oh no that means the kitty barn goes away, what will Tody do?
Moving it by hand is more work. In a pile out back they can scoop it up or use the grapple and load it quicker/easier
Take it from me--the amount of money you want to get for the scrap iron could take years and years to come back to previous price levels.. is 5 to 10 years of an eyesore worth $250 ? Concrete is money, but it ain't easy.
TOBY IS SO CUTE
Big Sweed found some Tiger mosquitoes AKA ankle biters Their from Asia .and were brought to the US in shipping containers but not on propose , They even bite during the day , We now have them in California .
That's a new shirt. Can't tame the big sweed. With the bull ring as a logo
I'm really surprised that you haven't painted the fuel tank.
Good Job. Who was the younger guy in video. Is that Randys son? Or your brother. Gpa looks good. Poor Toby. Lol
Chet
That’s called a Expansion Joint!
Check it out spider hitch for hooking your grain cart to the combine it’s attached to the combine pull a cable out hook it to the header cart it retracks and hooks the cart up automatically
I always start with the 5th wheel, before I go under the truck, coz usually by the time I get done with it I run out of grease,
You did ok chet and dougo...ive been pouring concrete for 35 yrs and i could say this or that about what you did wrong but if someone with minimal experience can get it somewhat flat then you've done ok...the biggest ive done is 165 cubic metres in one pour...yes im Australian 🇦🇺 with my metric terms....so while most will judge on your mistakes ill say good job its flat and fairly smooth so it'll do for around the bins...next time though put proper expansion foam between the bins and slab instead of cardboard
Y’all got r done looks good y’all did a good job!
Did you put a Toby paw mark in one corner of the new concrete?
Chet you need to wash your hands with apple cider vinegar after getting them in concrete. It counter acts the acid of the concrete and stops your hands from peeling. Really works
Well done you all good hard work
The SmartSaker Grease Gun Coupler has a locking lever. Looks promising. Good review by Simcoe Spring Service.
Great job you all did. Is Ray never on the farm anymore?
