As much as I love my iPad Pro in performance and usability, the Surface Series always up iPad in terms of hardware design. The kick stand and slap-on cover-keyboard with pen pouch is miles ahead oh iPad’s bulky and ridiculously complex design.
Imagine kids with no PC skills get released to the workforce years later? They'll have different logics and mindsets about computer science, or in general, what a computer can do. I work as a lead game programmer in a AAA publisher (7k employees), there's no way to get any job done on a Chromebook (or any phone OS). Same can be applied to our business partners in other industries. Can we shift away from Windows one person at a time? No. Can we, human as a whole, shift everyone away from Windows in a single day (by dropping every knowhow, workflow, application and tech support we human ever built, with a flip of a switch)? No. As a freshman, can you tell IT dept to "screw your Windows, I want a Chromebook"? Afraid not. If you think G-Suite is enough, then ask yourself. How do you upload excel files to your game server to config game contents / database? How do you version control documents? How to store docs in the on-site server or storage if your documents are classified? What happens when internet or service is down? If you have a freaking huge excel table (e.g. expanses, earning, revenue, etc sheets), can you group, collapse, expand cells with gSheets? It's a very useful feature during meetings. About Windows. Pros: 3rd party OEM support. driver hosting service, long API support. PC, 2in1, IOT, embedded machines, arcade machines, smart city, smart agriculture, factory, Xbox, etc. Cons: infinite hardware and software combinations (also user error, bad habit, etc
btw, I'm buying a new house @ a really good location in the center of Tokyo (that area is always rated #1~3 in places-you'd-like-to-live-the-most ranking). Launching online loan applications is way easier on a Windows. You have scanner, printer, Photoshop, shortcut keys, multi-tasking, multi-screen, way bigger screens to work on. You can work on something while taking a call. You can display information side by side. You can paste images directly from memory into another richtext input area. It's way efficient than doing it on a phone or a Chromebook.

It’s true that M1 processor is better than most laptops. If you have an ipad you could screen mirror your mac on it and annotate on the iPad and also on the last mircosoft video they shouldn’t compare it with the mac. They should compare it to an ipad pro with the magic keyboard.

Processing isn't everything. Tablets are better than laptops for reading, working on things with a touchscreen, etc. And what's the best kind of tablet for a lot of people? For many, it's not a tablet with the capabilities of a personal computer, but a personal computer in the form of a tablet. THAT is what the Surface Pro series is.
