I did the conversion to modern spec. I did as you did here. Complete stripdown. Car went on to be developed to a 2.0 litre 8 valve with it's injection.. K-Jet. Did a 14.7 1/4 mile..

There are 2 Legends in the GTi : The VW Golf GTi mk1 like this of course and until the mk2 phase 1 (I had one, afte rit is not by far a GTi but just a GT car made for highways and family) and the PEUGEOT 205 GTi 1.6L and 1.9L 130cv (I was one 1.9L 130hp) I'am a lucky guy because I was the owner of 2 on 4 of GTi Legends!! ^_^

This is one of the highest rated cars. My dad had one and he raced it near stock and it was one of the best on the track.
That upholstery is spot freakin on! Although the carbon fiber oil filter is a bit overboard. Haha!
