Nice job! Everything well documented and those rims are really sweet. Who cares about those VR6 turbo "i don´t get the power on the street" - conversions? This thing will surely get all the looks if you park it in front of an ice-dealer and no one cares about it´s hp for sure :) (y)
What websites are good to order parts for the restoration of US version mk 1 and mk1 Pickup? Orig interior not necessary as the SA/Euro parts look great. Also fenders, bonnet, bumpers in addition to the entire interior. I am trying to avoid individual shipping a hundred or more parts.
1a) More than you sure noob youngman just out of your videogames :-) I'm 45 years old & an old fan and owner of "GTi" I knew this Golf 1 GTi in a direct live in the end of the 70's, I was a kid but 1 of my big brothers had one of the Gof 1 GTi 1.6L in 1977 After I had myself yes several "GTi" and I continue nowadays to liev my old passion even if "GTi" is not in the name of the car
Awesome work, love your Golf! :) Gonna give my 76 MKI Golf LS the same white GTI look, but with an MKIII GTI engine and track spec setup all over... ;)
Tire and wheel specs? I'm looking to do the same to my 87 cabriolet and don't know what to do size and offset wise. I daily drive it and want it to still be functional but look lower and meatier.
There are 2 Legends in the GTi : The VW Golf GTi mk1 like this of course and until the mk2 phase 1 (I had one, afte rit is not by far a GTi but just a GT car made for highways and family) and the PEUGEOT 205 GTi 1.6L and 1.9L 130cv (I was one 1.9L 130hp) I'am a lucky guy because I was the owner of 2 on 4 of GTi Legends!! ^_^
Very nice car but why you changed back lights adn geuges.??? I think that biger lights and those geuges are coolest than that you put after..sory for bad Engilsh
good design , just curious you know how much and for how long did this project to rebuild the whole car ? Here in Brazil I imagine that to rebuild this car is more expensive than buying a new car.
The car came out awesome, super clean. Where did you get the carbon fiber pieces or did you wrap them with the carbon fiber, if yes were did you buy it?
Great build bud... I did one back in the nineties.. In South Afroica we had the Mk1 in production till 2010. The fenders and bumpers were different, making the car look a bit more modern. I did the conversion to modern spec. I did as you did here. Complete stripdown. Car went on to be developed to a 2.0 litre 8 valve with it's injection.. K-Jet. Did a 14.7 1/4 mile..
0:50 and 2:47 Why everybody removes that sheet of metal where the VIN of any Golf is? Don't they look at it when you do the yearly check? In all the countries I have lived in so far, no VIN=no car.
Pretty great job guys from el gato customs, the car looks so good, oem plus style, a little bit of details and some nice touches like carbon fiber recovers, I respect that, Congrats and ¡¡Saludos desde Mexico!!
I'm Mexican and I LOVE This car, is the BEST Rabbit gti 1
Beautiful! I really like the conservative approach to the project. Not overdone or tacky.
i think is the perfect golf for 2014 i ever seen
absolutly one if not the best restoration projects ive ever seen...massive respect to this guy,,i admire you...very well done and i absolutly love your car....clearlt lots of hard work...and time and dedication...well done my friend,,,,

You guys in Slovenia are allowed to import vehicles from anywhere no matter what first registration is?
If you reply to me directly I will see the reply, well yes same sort of thing, either way they are not actually made from carbon fiber...
That's about as good as a Mk1 gets!
Holy Fuuuuck! I see you replaced all the panels with original VW. Wish we had more OEM stuff here is Oz
Howzit im from south africa
where can i get both those stabilizing bars that was used in this vid
we here is SA are battling to get those

Very nice car but why you changed back lights adn geuges.??? I think that biger lights and those geuges are coolest than that you put after..sory for bad Engilsh
I have 1965 VW Bug and I am desperately wanting one of these babies as a daily driver. How much would a build like yours cost. Just an estimate.
good design , just curious you know how much and for how long did this project to rebuild the whole car ? Here in Brazil I imagine that to rebuild this car is more expensive than buying a new car.
Perfect ! that will be beter if you restore it in original model... but you do a realy great job on this nice Golf ^^
Wow very nice........this vid is making me miss my old Mk1
kolko je trebalo dugo da se auto kompletno promjeni ? i dali je ulozeno puno novaca u njega? :D
Grat Bro, VERY NICE Golfy!!!
After all that... and you left it as an 8v motor... damned shame. Drop a 2,0 into that thing!
How was the car supported on its side while using the mattress pad?
The wheels are incorrect; please replace them with the original Pirellis.
That upholstery is spot freakin on! Although the carbon fiber oil filter is a bit overboard. Haha!
Hello,
no, we are allowed to import only oldtimers (more than 25 years old) and new cars (I think till 3 or 5 years old)...
Greetings,
Andrej
The car came out awesome, super clean. Where did you get the carbon fiber pieces or did you wrap them with the carbon fiber, if yes were did you buy it?

awesome car and massive amount of work on it. but whats with the exhaust tip ?
when is this model coming out? 2015?
NOICE! Complete overhaul! Doing it the PROPER way.
0:37 > 4:04 Never seen anything like this before. Beautiful down to the last detail!!
Wooow. I have a question. The black parts. Is Carbon fiber? How did they do that?
Hey. Yes, correct. The black parts are from carbon fibre... I dressed the parts in carbon fibre - the process is called lamination...
@@ElGatoCustomz oh okay thanks

Where did you get your parts from? I recently bought a 77 Vw rabbit and i need a good rliable place to get parts from. Thanks. Sweet Mk1 by the way!
Hello. Most of parts from e-bay and some from Croatia, Slovenia. You welcome. Tnx
just out of curiosity, how much did you spend in total?
This mk1 is perfect. Is this pepper white color? wondering which color code it is ?
Looks like Alpine White which was the colour of the limited edition campaign version of Golf GTI
Beautiful Work. I would have love to see and engine transplant for more power to go with the looks but its awesome to look at.
Pretty great job guys from el gato customs, the car looks so good, oem plus style, a little bit of details and some nice touches like carbon fiber recovers, I respect that, Congrats and ¡¡Saludos desde Mexico!!
