that was fun hahaha the tearblast arrow just shredded all the components from the stalker at once, that made him not be able to go invisible or shot at you :)

Overriding machines is very helpful in fights, as they fight for you and have powerful attacks. Also the often pull aggro (enemies fighting them instead of you) which gives you time to craft ammo or set up traps or sneak up behind them. Or run away an make them lose sight.

Hey good job defeating two tough enemies. In the cauldron the fight is very confined with no cover, making it important to slow the Bellow back down with ropes (like you did), shock or ice. The Stalker fight kicked my ass at first. Tearblast arrows are great.

Finally you discovered how useful the ropes are, they'd be also usefull with the stalkers. Make sure you keep your ammunition up while walking the world. there are so many rescources that you waste if your pouch is full but could craft ropes, traps and so on.
I noticed you panic a lot. try to keep a calm head and pause if you are panicing to consider what is the best strategy.
The Tearblast Arrow was a long time ignored by you but it makes fights so much easier, because it takes down the armor (so best used at the start of the fight, making your following shots and meele attacks make much more damage.

    Hi Maria!
First of all, I really like watching your videos and how you progress so much from episode to episode. It's funny how the only two games I've played the last couple of years are Subnautica and Horizon Zero Dawn, so I was directly interested in your channel. Good choice of games ;)
As I have completed Horizon Zero Dawn recently on the highest difficulty, I would like to offer some tips for you as a new player, especially for some of the "less explained" functions of the game. Most advice will be directed towards specific issues that I see you are having and I believe that knowing these things will make your experience of playing the game better. Nothing will be spoilery, or explain things that you would like to learn yourself, or atleast I don't think so.
The game does quite a poor job at explaining elemental effects/attack effects, so let's start there.
Basically, the game has some different attack effects which broadly can be summarized as either "damage" or "attack/elemental effects".
    Damage:
is represented by the downwards pointing arrow Icon (which is currenly 70 on your Carja Sharpshot Bow). This function is quite straightforward and represents how much of the enemy's health-bar will be taken down when applying a hit/arrow/trap etc. Generally, the higher the better :)
    Elemental effects:
are a bit less intuitive. Basically there are 4 different types of elemental effects. Fire, Freeze, Shock and Corruption.
Elemental effects have NO direct damage. Instead, they are applied on enemies until they "take effect" and ONLY then will it benefit you in the fight. After it has already taken effect, it will NOT benefit you to apply more of the same elemental effect for a while. I will discuss them briefly below.
    1. Fire - The fire arrows in themselves does NO damage (or at least very little). When shooting an enemy with a fire arrow, a round fire icon will start showing over the selected enemy. This icon will be "filled up" from bottom to top the more arrows you hit. When you've hit the enemy with enough fire arrows, the whole round icon will have been filled up, and the icon boarders will basically "glow" in white color. This means that the enemy has catched on fire. The enemy will be disoriented for a while when the effect takes place, and then the fire will start doing damage over time for a while. The time remaining will show as the white corners of the icon will slowly remove itself (counter clockwise I believe). Remember that it's only this fire effect that will do the damage. So if the enemy is already on fire, applying more fire arrows will not help. You cannot set them on fire again while they are already burning. If the enemy is weak to fire, such as corrupted machines or for example sawtooths, the effect will be applied with less arrows used, and the damage over time from the burning effect will be higher. So, basically, try to set enemies on fire (preferably those who are weak to fire) and then switch to some other weapon (for example normal damage).
In your episode, you tried attacking the Fire Bellowback with a lot of fire arrows. This was not the best choice since the Fire Bellowback has fire as its strength. This means that you need to apply ALOT of fire before it will start burning and when it starts buring it will not take so much damage from the burning effect. This is also why you at one point said "why does it no damage??" :)
    2. Freeze - The same thing goes for freeze. It does NO damage but will apply its effect exactly as fire. You hit it with enough freeze attacks until the freeze icon is filled up. The enemy will then be "frozen". This means that it will move slower and take massively increased damage from your normal damage attacks. So basically, try to attack with enough freeze attacks (preferably on enemies that are weak to freeze) so that the enemy gets the frozen status and then switch to some damage attack/arrow to benefit from the increased damage taken while the freeze effect lasts. Attacking with more freeze attacks once the enemy is already frozen will do no benefit, same as with fire.
The Fire Bellowback is weak to freeze, you should have tried to freeze it instead of trying to make it burn with fire arrows!
    3. Shock - The same thing goes with Shock. It does NO damage, but will apply its effect exactly as the above. You hit it with enough shock attacks until the shock icon is filled up. The enemy will then be "Shocked" for a while. This basically means that it will fall down and be stunned. It cannot move for a while and you can take the opportunity to attack it without it being able to attack you back. Using more shock on an already shocked enemy will do no benefit. So basically, attack enemies that are weak to shock with enough shock damage (for example your shock tripcaster) so that they are stunned. Then use the time when they are stunned to apply as much damage as you can with regular damage items. Again, this works better and shock is applied easier if the enemy is weak to shock.
    4. Corruption - Same thing here. The effect will cause the enemy to be confused and start attacking other machines instead.
    Other kind of effects:
    1. Tear - does NO damage in itself. It's used on machines to knock parts of their armor OR weapons off them which will fall to the ground. The amount of tear you have to hit an enemy with is represented by the broken shield icon on your weapons (for example 108 on your Carja Sharpshot Bow if you use the tearblast arrows). The higher the tear, the less arrows you need to apply to a specific part of a machine to have it fall off to the ground. As you might notice, some of your regular attacks also have tear, although much less tear than the tearblast arrows. This means that regular attacks with for example your Hunter Bow will also eventually tear off the machine part. But it will take more arrows before it happens. So basically, the tearblast arrows are specifically made to "tear" part of the machines to the ground. It does have alot of tear, but have NO damage. Another thing here which is good to know is that sometimes, the enemies weak points (those that glow yellow on a machine when you scan it with your focus) will be defended by some sort of armor. Using tear to remove this armor will leave the weak points vulnerable to attacks.
    2. Ropecaster (not sure what its called) - this effect works exactly as the elemental effects fire/freeze/shock/corruption. Shoot the enemy with enough ropes and the round rope icon above the machine will be filled up and a white border to the icon will glow. This means that the effect will now take place, lets call it the tied-down effect. When you have successfully tied down an enemy, it is the same as it being shocked. It will be stunned and cannot move or attack for a while. BUT, if you attack the machine while it has the tied-down effect active, the duration of the effect will be massively shortened. So as an example, in your fight with the Fire Bellowback in the Couldron. You decided to tie down the bigger machine so you could handle the smaller ones first. But, since you immediately started attacking the Fire Bellowback once it was tied down, the tied-down effect was very short (only a few seconds). If you instead leave it alone and do not attack a machine that is tied down, it will stay tied down for a very long time. I'm not sure exactly how long, but its aleast over a minute.
Basically tied down is used to remove an enemy from the fight for a period of time, and also remember that if you keep shooting ropes at an enemy that has already the tied-down effect triggered it will do no extra benefit.
    3. Handling - this is basically the attack speed function of Horizon Zero Dawn. Maybe you have noticed that when you charge an arrow with your bow, there are two lines moving towards the center of your aim before they finally stop moving. This represents how accurate your shot will be. If you release your arrow before the two lines touch the circle in the middle (which is your aim), then the shot will NOT be accurate and might very well hit something that you are not aiming for. Handling basically reduces the time it takes for these lines to move to the center, so in essence it will reduce the time you have to charge your bow before the shot will accurately hit what you are aiming for. So the faster your aim is accurate, the faster you can let lose the arrow and start charging a new one. You will notice a clear difference in charging time between your Hunter Bow and your Sharpshot Bow for example, as one have much higher handling than the other. The Sharposhot bow does more damage, but you have to charge each arrow longer before the shot will be accurate. One thing to remember here is that the closer you are to the enemy, the less important an accurate aim is. This means that if you are right next to a big machine for example, you can just let lose arrows like crazy and they will most likely hit even if they are not very accurate. A tip here could be when you are using elemental attacks, you do not need to hit a specific part of the machine to trigger the effect (in general). So the aim is not as important as if you are trying to hit the eye of a watcher. This means that if you are trying to apply an elemental effect on a machine, sometimes its better to not charge the bow so much but instead shoot more arrows faster, less accurate, so the elemental effect is filled up faster and takes effect faster. Of course, the further away the machine is, the more accurate you have to be for the arrows to hit at all...
I know this is a lot to read, but I hope that it will help you on your journey. I have more tips to give that can be quite beneficial for your gaming experience, but this is getting as long as an essay so I will stop here haha...
    Take care and have fun!

Thats the idea, setting up traps before a big fight helps a lot, the more the better. Shock traps will mostly stun but not do that much damage while explosive traps might be better in some situations. Setting up some tripcaster wires helps too, even better if you had the carja tripcaster as you can set up explosive wires instead of just shock.
Good to see you tries out the ropecaster, as you can see it stops the machine in its track temporarily to give you some breathing room and deal some critical hits to weak points. I knew you would like it.
You did much better on the second attempt of this fight than last time, shame you forgot about health lol, and good to see you are practising trying to keep the camera pointing at the main guy. Nearly had him the next try. Being aggressive and getting stuck in is also a valid strategy too if you have a lot of heath potions. Find what ever strategy works best for you, it is all good practice. You showed him whos boss.
I can't remember but I think you can reclaim unused traps (I might be wrong)
Don't worry about killing the wildlife, their skin and bones are more important for your pouches, at least it is not fish 😂🤣
Those stalkers are tricky. A tearblast arrow would get rid of their weapons and if you hit their stealth generator they will not be able to turn invisible. Yay you used it lol, now you see why it is good.
    You are improving each video👍

Getting far enough in the Forager skill tree you'll be able to pick up deployed traps. Tripwires are better in cauldrons as you can spread them across paths and are more likely to be hit rather than traps I basically turned the boss room into a spider's web of tripwires. Traps are better deployed in narrow gaps like doors or arches.

Tips: a red arrow when hiting a target mean not effective, a green arrow mean critical hit

  • @ВасилийКочергин-д6ы

During boss battles resist potions are very useful. For example, fire resist potion defends from... I don't remember exactly, something around 75 % of fire damage. There is another buff potion, which adds about 25% of health. So before boss battle just drink all needed potions and fight will be a lot easier. Also 2-3 traps are useless during boss fights, you need at least 15-20 traps to feel their effect. Shock traps don't do any damage, they stun machines for very short time, so i personnally prefer to use fire or blast traps.i usually place traps on circle around the cauldron's boss, this way small machines will be destroyed more likely.

Stalkers won't appear in your focus if their cloaking is active. If you tag them, they will become untagged when they cloak. Listening for their footsteps is the most reliable way of finding them.
