Thank you for sharing this! I have been making stocks for decades, but I learned something new about five years ago. My nutritionist told me not to cook my stocks for no more than 8 hours. I used to do the 24-hour method taught to me as a child. He said that after 8 hours of cooking, the heat will kill off minerals and vitamins when you go past the eight-hour mark. So I have been simmering my stock no longer than 8 hours and I find the gelatin is thicker and the clarity of the broth is much clearer and less muddy. Just a little food for thought on this.
@@fiddlesnsticks Chicken bones not more than 1 1/2 hours and pork and beef bones no more than three hours. I fine the instantpot makes the broth cloudy because you can't skim off the foam as it is processed. Even if you strain it through muslin cloth, it is still cloudy. I do use this method if I am in a bind, but I usually go for my huge stock pot.
When we had a house, I made all my own broth too! It is so yummy. Now space is at a premium. We make our own taco seasoning from our spices. Great tortilla idea! Thank you. - Michelle
Also people who are allergic to peanuts and/or chickpeas are sometimes allergic to lupin flour. So people with these allergies should be careful. Do you have an alternative recipe?
For those that are new here, you can get a piece of cheesecloth, you do not need much. At about 2 tablespoon of rice to that cheesecloth, close the bag using a ponytail hair band. Drop it into a mason jar, put your homemade seasonings on top of that. Instant rice works better. The rice will pull the the moisture and keep your seasoning dry. Just about the only good news that rice has
I get all the broth off the bones and then refill the instant pot with water and cook it all again and use the rendering as just plain chicken broth vs. bone broth. The bones at this point are pretty crushable and our dog gets these as her treat in her raw diet dinner.
Annie! Why haven’t I tried these tortillas until now!! I’ve tried many including serious keto & Nashville Chris…& finally went to Hero which I know I needed to get off the gluten, but just couldn’t take the substitutes, until now!! I love these!! U made it possible & ENJOYABLE🎉thank u!!❤(I did add corn extract)
Hi Annie! - HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🍾- I’ve really missed tortillas, especially corn tortillas. I purchased 2lbs of Carrington Lupin Meal to (successfully 🤤) make your grits recipe. I think I can just grind the meal down to make flour, correct? Thanks for the recipes! ❤❤❤
Pass on the LMNT with maltodextrin in it. Found it cheaper now just to make home made electrolytes that are about tasteless depending how much you put in to water and spread it out over the day.
Any details on the release date for the book...? Also, have you ever considered a collaboration with Monya Kilian Palmer? She's a South African/UK based Keto diet author and her books and recipes are awesome!!
In order for the broth to be shelf stable it would actually need to be pressure canned, not water bathed. But she's just freezing it. No canning needed.
Thank you for this! How do you store your broth? fridge or pantry or? --- for me its just myself and my husband and I make broths as I need them but this would be handy for sure when I dont' want to spend 24 hours to make a broth and I need to make something for dinner asap =)
Hi, I’m not trying to be negative but another RUclipsr mentioned that there’s maltodextrin in that LMNT. I don’t know how much, though. And I haven’t heard if it’s been removed or not. You might want to check it out. And, I’m sorry, I don’t remember which RUclipsr. I will see if I can find out who it was that said it.
Hi, I found the RUclipsr. It was Steve at Serious Keto. He did a Maltodextrin Test video 4 months ago. For those of us who are diabetic, this might raise our sugar.
Steve - Serious Keto was talking about the maltodextrin. I tried a sample and it was way too salty for me. I use Ultima; lots of yummy flavors and not salty. Have heard good things about SaltT from perfect keto from Steve as well
Realized that even expensive healthy peanut butter upsets my stomach. Decided make my own and much better. Cheaper and you know what's in it. Makes you wonder what these companies are hiding.

Yes!! Studies have actually shown this to be true. It can also decrease the gelatin and collagen content to cook it longer. Great info!
@bdctrans70 I cook mine in an instant pot for 2.5 hours...do you have info on this technique and recommended cook times?🤔

We save our chewed off chicken bones in the freezer to make bone broth for our dogs. It's as good for them as for us and part of our feeding program.
You should pressure can the broths. Then it’s shelf stable and you don’t have to stress freezer burn or how long it’s been in the fridge
As for the tortillas, you can also add drops of corn emulsion/flavoring to ramp up the corn flavor

I will be trying the tortillas today! I have not found a recipe yet that has both good texture and flavor.
So we will see if these work out.

My mom always put a few grains in the salt shaker for the same reason, hopefully your shaker jar holes aren’t big enough for the rice to pass through.
Everything looked delicious.
Lupin flour is not available in my country, do you know of a replacement?

Yes! Those soft cooked bones are so fabulous for dogs ❤
I always love your content!
What are some ideas for using the shredded chicken please?
My daughter, who is on a tight budget, buys chicken feet from Walmart for her chicken broth. It is delicious.

How did I miss her grits recipe? I have lupin flour. I'm gonna look up that recipe!
We also give bone broth to our cats. They love it.
❤❤❤😻

Would you be willing to share your recipe for the homemade electrolytes?
I seen that it has maltodextrin in it too, I was really disappointed.

Anise = ANN iss. Rhymes with Pan Hiss.
Thank you
Using the instant pot is much better because you don’t lose nutrients like you do in the crock pot.
Do you not have to water bath can the jars for storage?
She's just freezing it.Broth requires pressure canning, not water bath. (It's not acidic enough.)

Can I replace the xanthan gum with arrowroot?
arrowroot is not keto as it contains 85 grams of net carbs in 100 grams
🎉Can we preorder your cookbook? When will it be out!!!???
“….but their really good…”. Nice!

I call them "en-niss" seeds

Can you make the coffee without the element I think you can but I just wonder how
3:40 Ann-ise
LOL 😂it’s just like Ah-niece fast with a Spanish accent
Nice meme song reference.
💗♥️💗
I've never heard anise seeds pronounced this way before.
I googled it. There were at least 4 different ways to pronounce it.
Anise is pronounced “Annis”.
Well now I like you even more. Louis Theroux reference.
ANN-iss
Pronounced Ann-eh-seed
Lol, not in America. 😊😊
That's the way it's pronounced in Canada. Just letting her know its not Anus-seed. 😊
@themessycook 🤣 nice
It's pronounced Ann-iss. Rhymes with hiss. Still kind of uncomfortable to say. Lol
I’m not using anything called anus seeds as an ingredient!
Keto is HIGH fat, medium protein, and low carb.
LMNT has maltodextrin. Bad idea.
