- DKOldies sent me a replacement for the last Nintendo DS Lite, and this is what they sent! I've talked about DKOldies enough recently, so I decided to have Danny film this one.

I have the exact same model, DS, and my screens are extremely bright
How about some like actual retro consoles showing insides of them like coleco or wanderswan

About the screens: The white DS in the video has the code USG-USA which means original release, while the Guitar Hero one has USG-USA-1 which means first revision. This could be related to the screen issue maybe? Personally I have two DSLites, USA-1 and EUR-1 and they're all perfectly bright

I bought a near perfect condition white DS Lite the other day at a thrift store for $50. Best part of my week.
I can recall when comparing mine to my classmates there is a good amount of variance between screens. They don't look to all use the same sku
I’ve bought a few ds lites over the years, and some are definitely using slightly different screens. One was so bad I had to return it. It had slight motion blur in the top screen.
They will usually buy screens from different makers which can have different variances on their whites . Commonly some will look more or less yellow and you would probably never notice if you don't compare it one side by side with another . Even the Switch has different screen makers and slightly different colors .

It’s about the same from the screen. Screens can be tinted if the ribbon isn’t on there right.
The card reader might need to be cleaned or the pins are a little bent and realigning itself when your out the cartridge.
I think that it's becoming an issue with white DS Lite's in general as of late. My personal one is having similar screen issues as of late.

Honestly I say you should stick around for at least the "after" stories of the main channel. Watching this video as well as the Goodwill Xbox 360 was very nice as we get a full story of start to end.

Regarding the screen issues, I don't know for sure but perhaps (I'm guessing) the colour of the shell might make a slight difference to the screens. A black shell would, perhaps, have a brighter looking screen to that of a white one due to the surround; I'd assume. Different models/makers or releases might also make a difference, as might the usage of a system. This is, of course. not to give any definitive reason for the differences in screens; it is all just guesswork. I'd also assume the screens could just vary maybe, not every screen is going to show up the same as another; perhaps there are some that are just naturally brighter and some that are naturally darker. (Again, all this is guesswork, so might not be the case at all). Just some thoughts.

If I'm remembering correctly, (it could be the DSI) if you remove the battery cover, there's access to two small screws, that can adjust the brightness/contrast of the screens, if you have a play with those it should fix the issue, at least for a while

Wooow 130$ is tooo much. In my local second hand market they are sold on average for 20-30eur in good condition. Most of them i've seen unsold for months.
I pick them up 10-30 dollars Canadian max lol all of mine have brught screen except for my white ds lite same screen issue all the ds lites I pick up for this price pretty much never have chargers or stylus but all in good working and cosmetic condition going for every model but I buy duplicates for right price:)

I absolutely HATE taped bubble wrap, sticky mess and wastes the bubble wrap, yuck as.
The condition IS AN ISSUE. If I'm paying asinine money for a DS lite, it BETTER be in literal new condition. I got my black ds lite from a peddlers mall for 45$, in literal new condition. Not a scratch on it.
ALSO, I've owned and sold hundreds of DS lite, and I've never had a screen issue like that. So no, it's not a "model" issue. It's DK oldies selling pure trash and stealing your hard earned money
Agreed, issues like this should not exist when I’m paying $130 for a console I can on eBay for $50 or less.

I wouldnt have been disappointed with the price tbh. I agree that it doesnt appear to have been properly serviced which should have included cleaning. Its not amazing, but its working. The prices for these are only gonna go up since they havent been made for years. I suppose it depends on if you plan to play on these dsl's or just collect them.

Dk oldies is a joke lol. I emailed them a list of games and some old consoles, like a gba, Sega dreamcast... And a bunch of games from various systems... They offered me 100 flat and tried to make it sound like they were giving me a special extra price or something lol. One of the games I listed was metal gear solid 3d complete in the box... That game is 75 alone LOOSE lmfao.

I have a feeling that DKOldies has a pretty high employee turnover rate (except for the same 3-4 people that are the only ones allowed on camera.). No professional who regularly works on refurbishing tech would let this shit slide..
