Multimatic, a company that has built great race cars in the past built this Mustang GT3 for Ford.
People generally don't understand these types of cars. They allow you to buy a turn key legal race car.
We build time attack cars out of gen 6 ss, zl1 1le, and c7 z06s that set faster laps than all these gt4.r, mustang gtd or whatever. Maybe not the mustang gtd but besides the point. The reason that you buy one of those cars is to be legal in a series and have all the safety, so it's not about lap times but about a turn key legal competition car that's competitive in a set class. Camaro gt4r is off pace of a zl1 1le with slicks and a real wing. Actually a dead stock zl1 1le would probably beat a gt4r camaro around a single lap. The flip side of that is you couldn't beat it over 15 laps cause the zl1 1le would lose brakes and probably over heat at full 10 tenths pace with a professional driver. I race a c7 z06 with 580 wheel hp, mcs coilovers, and a little aero with gy3r tires and it runs 2:16 around cota and 1:45 around Buttonwillow a gt4r camaro would probably be 2:20 and 1:50 on better racing slick tires. Hope that helps with understanding purpose of these cars. Grated the mustang gtd is likely faster but still wouldn't be a single lap hero over say a unlimted class global time attack car. So just a higher level like you said but still not record setter
Race cars are restricted to a class that it races in restricted power to weight BoP...
Well, another reason why Barra should been replaced (I have been posting that for years, especially when the new Trailblazer came out-I had'07 Trailblazer SS so I was very disappointed*) hey she started out with interiors so what does that tell you? Good for Ford and smart because it will only help dark horse -(Shelby without paying Shelby*😮) at least they have not folded yet.
GTD is a GT3 class, just runs under it's own BOP and name for IMSA specifically.
Corvette has not had a GT4 car since the C6, only GTE/GT3 . Camaro also had a GT3 car with the 5th gen, but it was built by a German company and very much unknown to most.
The Camaro GT4.R was built by Pratt & Miller, with assistance from GM, similar to the C5.R - C8.R.
The GT4.R loses it's homologation at the end of the 2023 racing season so I do not think it will be available anymore from P&M, mainly because they have shifted focus to the new Corvette GT3 customer based program. And FYI, the GT4.R is not a street legal car, it is strictly a racecar for the GT4 racing class.
Just a few extra facts for anyone who wants to know. Feel free to ask anymore questions if anyone has some.

I never had the money to pursue anything over $100k! I’m just as happy with the SS/ZL1’s to build myself. Plus I can afford those lol! Mustangs are pretty neat vehicles. I’ve owned one in the past but since buying a camaro I haven’t looked back. I’m not a hater I just preferred Camaros. I currently have a C6 Corvette but still also looking to buy another Camaro ZL1 in the future. I want add that this newer mustang body style favors the Camaros 🤔 and now with them entering the racing scene with the GT4.R spec makes me wonder why they waited so long to go with this along side the Camaro. I wish them luck!

On the Mustang, my budget can't handle the $100k dealers are wanting for the C8 Corvette, no way I can even entertain the idea of something like that. I just can't bring myself to get excited about a car that costs more than my house.

300k in this economy says everything about the GTD but it's gaod to see these companies still making special cars. That Nurburgring time will be crucial for the GTD

The GTD is not a race car. It is a carbon fiber super car to compete with Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes AMG, and the likes. Ford has GT3 and GT4 mustangs. They will be racing for now 2 GT3 teams in Le Mans. They also have the Darkhorse R which is the off the shelf face car anyone can buy and will have their own racing series. I believe Multimatic is building all these cars.
The GTD is based of the GT3 race car. It’s the road version of the GT3
Camaro is still alive in motorsports. They run a ZL1 in Nascar, the Camaro GT4.R in IMSA, multiple classes in NHRA, and the newest one is in the Australian Supercar series. That Camaro in the supercar series is whooping up on the mustang and is seriously awesome, look up some 2023 supercar races if you haven't seen it yet.
Mustang runs restrictor in Gen 3 they have changed weight and aero balance and throttle bodies to match cars parity...

Not 2024 it is 2025 mustang GTD so they test compared 2016 Ford GT and they test timer on new mustang is very fast car beat Porsche in IMSA racing
The GTD is a street version of the GT3. However, the active aerodynamic spoiler is illegal for racing.

The car is a street legal GTD spec car that is for someone who wants to race. It’s a cool car just like the GT4.R cars and they might make 25-50 of them.

Unfortunately I only saw one Camaro GT4R racing in the Fanatec GT World Challenge last year. They also race the Camaro GT4R in the USA but never saw one in the IMSA series.
Rebel Rock Racing fields one in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series, they actually took 1st in their class two weeks ago at road america. You can stream all the races on Peacock

I brought this concept to you years ago.... GM has these parts in the warehouse, GEN 7 Corvette leftovers....dry sump and rear trans... could have been done better and much cheaper on the camaro ... maybe Z28 ?????
$300k is pretty damn high for a mustang. But Ford will need to beat back applicants for the GTD. From traditional mustang fans (but with money) and supercar/track-centric buyers (those who prefer 911 GT3, Lamborghini Huracan STO, AMG GT Black Series, etc buyers).
There are quite a few channels who are, generally, supercar owners that indicate they’ve gotten an allocation for GTD.
I almost feel like I need to turn in my Camaro fan card for not knowing about this. :(

Chevy did a lap at CTMP several weeks ago, the new C8z did 1.22.10 which almost catches porsche gt3 cars. :) You can get a c8z instead.

It's a mid engine afterthought patchjob... and I'm sure nobody here is paying 300k+ for it... irrelevant babbling on this video is all it will be.... and the darkhorse is BS, bring back a Mach1 or the Shelby... Mustang owner all my life and I hate gow Ford destroyed the brand, starting with the 4 door electric SUV... Ford is sending me pre approval letters every week, 0.9 financing, telling me to come get my Mustang... and for the first time in 30 years I'm not in the least bit interested.

The GT4.R nope the floor with the GT4 Mustang, the GTD car here would be disqualified from racing in the GTD circuit I have found out. Cool car, but it’s a publicity stunt.

Problem is Tadge has said many times of not wanting to build a ACR/ Senna type Corvette. Camaro ZL1 1LE was already there. Only needed more attention. What is GM going to do will be interesting.

No one wants the Camaro . Why do you think it's being discontinued? Because its popular? No! Because its sells have dwindled down to nothing. You have to ask yourself for a car that's so popular, track worthy, and capable what happened to all the buyers? Actions speak louder than words.
I used to love Camaro and it was one of the first cars i learned how to drive in.
The Mustang is just a more desirable nameplate, with better marketing, and more loyal following. And trust me when i say!, They will sell every last one of them at Three hundred thousand.

This is a street only Mustang that cannot compete in any racing series with Active Areo and 800 HP. This car is the same as the outgoing Street Ford GT.
