Way to make a first-time visitor cry! 😢 I'm sorry for everyone's collective loss, but thank the channel for this thoughtful and insightful compilation.❤
First time viewer and I shed tears for Rosa and Lewis. I am a faithful viewer of Jackie and Shadow and trying to stay positive but think we may see something similar in the days ahead. How these two stood watch over their babies in their final goodbyes...😭💔
This sad music….😭😭 I’m so invested in Jackie and Shadows eggs and worried this is what is to come for them. I’ve only recently discovered the eagle cams and find myself checking on them way too often!
Yes, the sad music! I got sucked in and now can’t get enough about eagles. At least there will be next year for these two beautiful birds including shadow and Jackie.❤
They dont give up that easy as a couple! I have faith that there is a next time for them. Jackie and Shadow have had disappointments, and they haven't parted company nor stopped trying after a dusappointed last year. They have 3 eggs this year, and we are waiting anxiously for the pipping to start soon! Just pray that Mother Nature will give step up to the plate next season!😢😢❤❤
Rosa unfortunately is in a similar situation as Gabby. It's impossible for the female to incubate 24/7, hunt/eat with no help. Hopefully next season Lewis will figure out what his role in all this is ❤
I had not been following sweet Rosa and Lewis as I am new to watching live cams. I was following another pair and saw this clip. It is heartbreaking. My heart hurts and I am crying to see how hard it was for Rosa and for Lewis to leave their eggs that were more like lifeless. Rosa made the call and it was so very hard for her. She just didn’t get up and leave, she took her time. And I trust her instincts are correct. And her man was there by her side. I think he reaffirmed her decision and also waited patiently for her to make the move to leave their beautiful home. My heart breaks for them. It wasn’t easy for them. 💕💔💔💕
Thank you Earlybird your update is perfect as usual, and even though we are saddened for Rosa and Lewis I am hoping for a better future for them both. ❤❤
My heart broke I know Rosa raised 3 babies last season, she is amazing mom who continues feed her babies even in top of nearby trees , she is hungry and no help this season, Lewis is still a young eagle 🦅 and not knowing yet about his responsibilities despite of keeping Rosa close to him , hopefully next season is good as long they are healthy
You're absolutely right. Eagles don't walk away from their eggs and when it was stated Rosa stopped incubatting, I've learned they don't do that. Prayers for happiness and if it means finding a different mate, so be it. Thank's for the updates.❤
Thank you for this sad but beautiful video, earlybird - we can't know what is in their minds but it sure seemed that some inner sense or something she was sensing in the eggs told her "you have done your best but it is not to be with this season and these eggs." Lewis is so devoted to her - fingers crossed that next season his "being a Dad" instincts will mature and kick in. We learn so much about their lives from the events of every season even if it isn't the outcome we would wish for.
I have been watching eagle cams for many years and have learned that eagles will stop incubating their eggs if they sense the eggs are not viable. They may not be fertilized, or the chick never developed. The eagles know when something is wrong. Trust them. They are smart.
I wish Rosa and Lewis strenghten theirs links over the coming monthes 💕a great spring and summer for both of them 🌞🌼🍀🌻I'm sure that a lucky star will shine above this attaching couple 💫
Rosa seemed to be looking at the eggs and thinking over and over again. Did she feel, sense no life in them? She definitely was pondering something. Sad?
I think she came to the realization that she couldn't do it alone and as hard as a decision as I'm sure it was she decided to do what was best for her survival.
This was very sad. First Martin's leaving which I felt got little attention, then the replacements came so quickly (being cheered on by the human audience) and Rosa ended up with a mate too immature to help her with her two eggs. Yes, very sad all around. Last year Shadow mourned the loss of his eggs and I can imagine for Rosa it is even worse because she knew she couldn't do it all by herself. Last year M15 waited until he had fledged his eaglets before he got a mate and I wish Rosa had been given the opportunity to wait until next season and maybe "lewis" would have been mature enough to help.
@@carolwisniewski6740 No and that probably would have been worse because she would have either left them to feed herself or starved. So sad and Martin, as with most of the eagle dad's, was a great provider.
@@ef2512 Thanks, there has been so much death and partner changes I can't keep up with which year some of them happened. Yes, she made a good choice. I felt the same about the egg at NEFL with Gabby. If she were to have an egg now, maybe Beau would know enough to bring food. At least she taught him to sit on the egg. We just would have all been shattered to watch beatings and starvation.
I started watching Rosa last year and saw what a loving creature she is; I believe that she is grieving Martin. Her eagle heart is aching even though she has a new mate. It's sad to see the eggs abandoned but I guess it's better now before they hatch than after. Nature will sort this out. God Bless sweet Rosa and Lewis.
From my point of view, she knows what's best, I have chickens that sit on eggs for a period of time, then they kick the ones out of the nest if it is not viable. Sometimes the chick dies in the shell or they are not fertile. My chickens do the sitting all alone the roosters don't help. I hope they have better luck next year.
I've been sad for Shadow and Jackie in California, but I guess this just happens. Apparently, the success rate for hatchlings isn't as high as we would hope.

Last year Jackie at the Big Bear CA nest did the same thing, she incubated for awhile then simply stopped.. Nobody knows why they do that but yes, we have to trust the eagles.. 🦅
@@seventhdayissabbath8747what you're saying about Jacky is wrong. She incubated the eggs way passed the date they were to hatch she knew in the end that the eggs were not going to hatch.. After she stopped the ravens ate the eggs which showed they were never fertilized..
To be more accurate, Jackie and Shadow were very inconsistent about incubating the eggs earlier in the process, when it was very cold out. They were exposed to the elements for long stretches and became unviable. So even though she resumed incubating them, it was too late. The same thing happened at the Redding Eagles' nest last year!
