No, just her and Caesarion. He wanted to parade her through the streets of Rome in his triumph and have her executed like Caesar did with Vercingetorix. Cleopatra's kids with Anthony were fine. As a matter of fact, Octavia adopted them soon after their parents' death. It was all for propaganda of course which worked out quite well for Octavian.

She'd manage to ally and win over Caesar (Looks only being part of it, she was reportedly beyond intelligent and Caesar liked her wit and intellect)
She'd manage to ally and even manipulate Antony (through a mix of beauty, flattery and guile, as she was very intelligent)
But she was up against the most dangerous man in Rome, who had no time for women. No time for sex. Only power. Only Egypt, and his Triumph, would suffice.
She witnessed the titan of Rome. She witness what a vastly different beast he was. And knew that her hand was empty, and she had only one choice left.

Apparently Cleopatra wasn't even that pretty. Not ugly or anything, just not like Hollywood tends to portray; it was absolutely her intelligence that Caesar was impressed with, and her usefulness as an ally.
Her issue with Octavian is she really had nothing to offer that he couldn't just take himself. And Ptolemy Caesarion was always going to be a threat to him, there was no way to try and strike up an alliance with Octavian and keep her son safe.

I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN.
I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what Egyptologists, Historians and Scientists also agreed on,
and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him.
Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Assyrians, Persians, Israelites, Nubians, Ukrainians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and French, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like?
With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans.
    WE ARE
    EGYPTIANS,
    WE ARE
    VERY UNIQUE!

    • @AntoniousFrancis
      @AntoniousFrancis Год назад +3

@@svetchannel2998 Egypt wasn't only conquered by Arabs, It was conquered by many nations, so it's not historically accurate to cal Egyptians Arabs, Even Muslim Egyptians shouldn't be called Arabs, cause their DNA have different genes from many different countries, Arab tribes are no more than 5% of the total Egyptian population, most of them came from the Arabian Golf and exactly from Yemen and Saudi Arabia, and they don't even care for the purity of their blood like Copts do, so their Arabian blood also got mixed with the Egyptian blood and they became Egyptians too.
But what about Copts? haven't I said that Copts are the most pure blooded Egyptians?
The answer is yes I did, and yes we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there, Copts who are about represents more than 30% of the total Egyptian population are the rightful descendants of Ancient Egyptians, and that's not what I say that's what scientists and historians said and proved. DNA test results made on Copts showed that we are 70% to 90% pure Egyptians, we could survive all these invasions because of two main reasons: First is our gold and because we were very rich once, and the second is because we marry our cousins and relatives. these are the two main reasons which kept our pure blood.
And second we haven't welcomed any invasions to Egypt, but that's what happened because they outnumbered us, but yet we could preserve our pure blood, culture, language, heritage, habits and traditions in spite of all these countless invasions.

Octavian never would’ve been what he was Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, his friend since teenage years, the eventual husband of Julia, later exiled, and the essential progenitor of other Roman emperors. It’s too bad “Shakespeare”-very likely Edmund de Vere, Duke of Oxford- check that out-never wrote a play about him, let alone about Octavian.

He didn't, that was the whole point. Cleopatra didn't kill herself because she thought she could charm and seduce Octavian like Caesar & Anthony. What she found instead was a man who was almost sexless in his conversation only caring about one thing, power. The direction in this scene is for Octavian to be wide eyed like he is looking at a jewel in a crown and not any sort of romance.
When Cleopatra realised this was a different sort of man that there was no bargaining with she killed herself.
