Picoreplayer design now with both sets of Meters and Spectrum ie Normal and Mini (new for 2024)

- Hello all i finally have both sets of Meters and Spectrum working now ie normal and mini versions, took me a while to workout how to change meters at the same time but got there in the end :)
You will find two versions of my Joggler skin one normal and one which is a flat version as i call it where the top and bottom bars are removed so you get a more modern look
If you already have Picoreplayer setup just skip to • Picoreplayer design no... just make sure you have Putty and Squashfs Tools installed

Thanks for sharing this Eyerex, it looks really nice and clean now, I did have a little issue as I skipped the picore setup but didn't have unsquashfs installed, for anyone else that is covered around the 8 min mark, cheers

@Eyerex Would you happen to know where I need to adjust the position of the meters for a 9" 1280x720 screen? Currently it shows up in the middle of the screen when in the now playing window. When I switch to the Joggler skin or any smaller dimension, it shows up in the right place
You have to edit the JogglerSkinApplet.lua to move the window the meters sit behind then move the meters behind that window with say photoshop if you fancy doing it yourself
The setting below control where the window sits ie the x and y then the h and w is the meters height and width and the width has to be the size of the width of two frames which fit into the space or they wobble

Ps does the rest of the layout look ok on a 1280x720 screen as it's for a 800 x 480 screen ?
Hi, do these skins work in 2160p? I want to put my Pi4 on my 4K TV (LG C3), but I wouldn't like black bars....

I had the levels up too high and the needle pegged the furthest level and it bent on the left meter. Are there replacements available? 😀 Seriously, very cool and the new setup method is simple.
I am on a 7 inch monitor for this test and the display does not fill the screen. There is about 3/4 inch on both sides and 1/2 inch on top and bottom. I UN-comented the disable_overscan=1 but it didn't make any difference. Your other skins I tried filled the screen without even changing that setting.

Hi in your config.txt file you can add some custom params at the bottom with the actual screen res for your screen, my screen is 1024x600 so...

@Eyerex, I've installed this on a 4.3 LCD module Display with touch screen, and works like a charm! But there are one issue that occurs when I change de volume throug buttons, the spectrum turn invisible until another music start or I do something that make the screen go out end return. So the spectrum turns visible again. Did you know something that needs to be set to avoid this behaviour ?
That's a bit of a odd one did it do the same with the normal install before you installed my custom layout

I tried again because on last, I've tried install one of your older versions before this, so I've made a new fresh install, but seems that the behavior still occurs. Anyway, not matter. I can live with this with just like that.

Does this setup require that the Pi 7" touchscreen be installed? I tried this on a Pi4 - everything appeared to work but my HDMI output is now blank.

@@Eyerex OK last try - I've typed out a full response twice, it looks like it posted then it's gone; perhaps because I was trying to include a link? Anywho... I think the Pi4B I was working with bit the dust - it's now slow blinking red and nothing. I tried again with another Pi4B and it's works perfectly. I'm not using the "official" Pi Touch 7" but another 7" IPS with HDMI but it works. My end goal is to use a round display like the Waveshare 4inch DSI Round Touch Display (this is where I tried to link the display in Amazon). I am renovating an old tabletop tube radio to a modern streamer and I'd love to replace the old tuning window with something appropriate in the PCP (like a single VU or something else era appropriate). Thank you so much for this excellent reference - after many, many confusing attempts and false starts yours if the first one that is thorough and clear.
@@kestrel929 I was thinking of buying one of those awhile ago but there a bit pricey as just say a album cover display with say vu meters or spectrum overlaid on top

@@Eyerex Thanks! I may take you up on that! What I'd love to figure out is how to actually replicate the groovey oscilloscope (Google TECHNICS SH-3434 ), either in physical format or digital - probably a huge lift compared to VU meters

what is the difference between dual meters and dual meters flat?
Only difference is the top and bottom bar which sits behind the text is removed to give the player a flat look
At the start of the video the player on the left is normal and the one on the right has them removed is flat look
Thanks for your videos. I bought a Raspberry PI5 with 10.1 inch Waveshare touchscreen. But the touch function is not working. Your videos are just for 7", but mine is 10.1" with resolution 1280x800. Can you help me with it? Thanks.

@@hussamalsiadi Sorry i forgot to post a link to get the touch working, i used this method to get the touch working on my ipistbit screen forums.slimdevices.com/forum/user-forums/diy/1672185-pcp-jivelite-with-an-elecrow-touchscreen-monitor-10-1280x800-model-dis85101d i will post a link to my custom files later but just see if everything works on a standard install of picoreplayer
@@Eyerex Hi, I tried to follow your instructions. But it didn't work. On Step 4, I couldn't see the touchscreen name as you mentioned. Also in Step 8, it doesn't seem that it recognized the touchscreen. Can I contact you directly?
