Xcel Energy Center was built for the Minnesota Wild, which is an NHL franchise located in St. Paul, MN. The Lakers moved to Los Angeles after the 1959-1960 season, leaving Minnesota without an NBA franchise until the Minnesota Timberwolves started play in 1989.

Balmer wanted to give more room to the finds, so its not cramped as in most arenas. I am down for that. The 2 billion are for other amenities as well that other stadiums do not have.. clean reusable energy, hotel, plenty of parking unlink some venues, shopping areas, etc..... not just seating. but it looks great,
